not sure but i think our unemployment worrys are over i was watching the 12 news today in buffalo ny and there was a short piece saying the house and senate came to a agreement and unemployment will be extended thur dec 2010 and the bill will pass within a week yea im someone who only got 26 weeks and doesnt qualify for any extentions unless the bill was passed so im happy
rich c, I agree with you, but please don’t lump all “those tier 1 and 2 people” togther just because of one person’s ignorance! (they are probably employed and pretending to be one of us!) I am one of those tier 1 people, who by the way will be out of benefits by the end of the month if HR 4213 is not passed soon and very soon! I have also been writing letters, making phone calls, etc. etc. for support of my situation/extension as well as for yours and the other “99’ers” (adding a TierV). I will continue to petition, write letters, emails and make phone calls on behalf of all the people before me who have already exhausted their benefits as I truly believe that all of the “99’ers” still need assistance and should get it! I hope that you and the other 99’ers will do the same for me and the thousands like me as we all need all the help we can get and we need to do it together!
Cost issues and revenue offsets have also posed problematic for a planned jobs incentive package that Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus, D-Mont., wants to soon mark up in committee. Republicans are demanding assurances that Senate Democratic leaders will address the estate tax dilemma, which is set to revert to its original 55-percent tax rate at the end of 2010. Baucus has been negotiating with ranking committee member Charles E. Grassley, R-Iowa, Senate Minority Whip Jon Kyl, R-Ariz., and Finance Committee member Blanche Lincoln, D-Ark., on how to proceed on the estate tax. Both Kyl and Lincoln have been pushing to set the exemption level at $5 million for individuals and reduce the tax rate to 35 percent. Kyl has proposed several revenue offsets to Baucus, but the two lawmakers remain at odds and have not reached an agreement on how to pay for the bill.

Taxwriters need to come up with approximately $50- to $60-billion in revenue offsets, according to some estimates. House Ways and Means Chairman Sander Levin, D-Mich., had said earlier that he expected to use a phased-in change of the tax treatment of carried interest, currently used to compensate investment fund managers. The provision would raise approximately $20 billion, but the Senate has yet to sign off on the proposal. Other revenue raisers under consideration include changes in pension funding rules, various tax-compliance provisions, and funds derived from an increase in the oil spill trust fund excise tax. Lawmakers are also reportedly considering requiring certain S corporation partners, primarily lawyers and lobbyists, to pay the Medicare tax on their earnings, which would raise nearly $10 billion.

Senate Democratic leaders are preparing to turn to a package of tax extensions for individuals and businesses as early as May 20 providing the House passes a Senate-amended version of extenders legislation (HR 4213) that the House had approved earlier.
The House is slated to act on the measure on May 19, but revenue offsets continue to pose a problem, and negotiations between the House and Senate taxwriters remain ongoing.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., said on May 17 that he expects to wrap up work in the next few days on a financial regulatory reform bill (Sen 3217) and then turn to the extenders package with an eye on final approval before beginning the week-long Memorial Day recess that starts on May 31. The extenders bill also includes a long-term extension of unemployment benefits and health insurance for the unemployed, as well as a five-year delay of scheduled cuts in reimbursement payments to…
For everyone who is fighting for additional weeks/Tier 5, please call Congress today and ask if they will be adding additional weeks to this bill.

My state has Tier 4, however the unemployment rate in Texas is 8.2%,it has to be 8.5% and over for them to give us more unemployment. This still presents an obstacle. So what do we do now? Something other than Tiers must be done.
My Tier IV ran out 3 weeks ago….not sure what I will do now.
YES,WE ARE IN DEEP DEPRESSION,BUT THEY DON’T WANT TO TELL.THE CONGRESS PROBABLY DIDN’T THINK WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPENS TO THE 99ERS IF THEY DON’T GET MORE WEEKS OF EXTENSION.THE WELFARE OFFICE WILL BE CROWDED,AND THOSE THAT CAN’T GET ANY WALFARE BECAUSE THEY ARE SINGLE OR DON’T HAVE ANY KIDS THEY WILL BE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET,WITHOUT ANY OPTION.
YES THE WORD IS “DEPRESSION”
YES,THEY WENT ON VACATION WITHOUT ANY REMORSE ABOUT ALL THOSE PEOPLE THAT WON’T HAVE ANY MONEY TO PAY BILLS,BUY FOOD OR MEDICINE.BECAUSE THEY ARE WEALTHY RICH PEOPLE THEY JUST DON’T CARE ABOUT THE POOR.YOU AT LEAST ARE IN THE TIER 1, BUT OTHERS ARE IN TIER 4 AND DON’T KNOW IF WILL BE A TIER 5.THE 99ERS ARE IN THE LIMBO.
Unemployment Line Stays Long: Up to 26.4 Million Seek Full-Time Jobs
Unemployment is expected to remain above 9% for at least the next two years, according to Christopher Woock, research associate for The Conference Board, and other economists.

Can any one say “DEPRESSION”
No extension vote till they come back from their EASTER break ( April 12th). I wonder how they all sleep at night when there are so many of us running out of time and money. I don’t sleep well, considering I can’t find a job and my Tier 1 will run out and I will not be able to get Tier 2, thanks to those in Washington not taking care of bills HR4851 or HR4213 before they go home for two weeks. I spend my nights wondering how to feed my daughter and keep a roof over her head. I’m a single parent and the sole provider. I’ve never been on welfare or homeless, but I may be homeless soon. I will make sure that I vote in November. As far as I’m concerned both parties let us down. They were to busy fighting over the health care bill. Maybe they should walk a mile in the shoes of someone fighting just to survive. Must be nice to have a two week vacation. No worries or thoughts of being without food or shelter and no worries about those without jobs and without benefits. Thanks Congress.

Crime & Drugs Inc. always hiring
Some “unemployed” residents find crime to be their best source of steady income. Judge Richard Stevens of Western County Court says he noticed a 50-percent increase in the number of criminal cases handled by his court..
No doubt it’s going to get worse ..with people losing their benefits ..UGH
The GOP is once again blocking a bill to let unemployed move from One Tier to the Next AND TO ALLOW AN ADDITIONAL 53 WEEKS OF UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS FOR LONG TERM UNEMPLOYED.

you know what i just realized. my roomate who got layed off before me and on unemployment before me will be collecting unemployment longer than i will because of the dates we fall on for our last filing. the system is messed up. i wish we could just vote all these idiots out and replace them with normal people, not self indulgent jack asses. oh well.

Is this a workable link or are you asking for everyone to get on Youtube, facebook, twitter, etc., and complain? I just clicked your link and it didn’t work.
What you try’n to say? LOL.
Everyone should write their Senators and Representatives and keep writing. I have written Schumer, Gilibrand and McMahon at least three times already. Today, I put in a letter to the White House.
Write, write, write, like we did before. NELP doesn’t appear to be helping they even say that there is not talk of additional help until the end of the year.
