We would all be better off if we were a little less educated and interested in the universe we are a part of. What has it done for us lately? And nothing ever came from things like the moon landing or learning to orbit the earth. We don’t need the technologies used for stupid things like jet airliners, communications satellites and GPS. Even if we did, everything important about space has already been discovered and used. There is nothing new up there; it’s just a little empty space with a couple of lame planets floating around.
This is the short-sighted idiocy that prevents solutions from even being discovered.

Watching C-Span. Repubs want to add a rider to keep the death tax at 0. At a cost of 1 trillion over the course of so many years. The death tax is primarily for the rich. I thought they wanted to keep the deficit low.

I cannot believe they are doing this to us. I am unemployed, and I am disgusted by their recent proposal to force me to take a drug test. It is degrading, insulting, and humiliating. I have never taken drugs, and I never will, but in the spirit of compromise, I offer my own proposal: I will submit to Hatch’s drug testing after he and every other Republican tell me how many hookers they’ve spent our tax dollars on this week you filthy hypocrites. Wanna reduce this nation’s debt? RESIGN!!! Not paying your salaries will help a lot and they can give that money back to us! And don’t worry about the recession hitting you; I’m sure all your corporate and Wall Street buddies will continue to line your pockets for years of faithful service to them and not to us.

by the way, are you aware that the fewer people who are employed, the less currency flows into our economy and the less taxes can be collected. I would be much happier if the goverment would force American corporations to bring back our jobs, then we wouldn’t need this. But Conservative Republicans don’t want to go against the big bussinesses that contribute to their campaighns. If you want someone to blame, look at the bigger picture. look at all the politicians who allowed and even encouraged outsourcing, like Reagan and Bush Senior and Junior as well as countless others in congress, most of whom are conservative republicans.

I myself am facing eviction any day, electric shut off on the 19th along with cable. My fiance and 5 of her kids here at home. All we’ve ever done is be able to eek by, keeping the bills paid and food on the table. Keep in mind, you’ve done all that you have until now. There is no reason for shame. Hold your head high. Keep positive, no matter how bad and except graciously what help your son can give. It’s not a sign of weakness in this economy and that’s what family is all about.

Keep positive in your job search and be creative. I myself have a few options because I looked outside the box. One is a job and the other would be a partner in a business of a group of us working together to market our skills to small businesses. While waiting to hear from one, I’m setting up meetings for the other.

Just remember, you aren’t alone. We are in this together.

Senator Orrin Hutch wants to drug test the unemployed…just got to love this guy’s idea on how he proposes to actually fund these tests. I also don’t think anyone who is on unemployment really actually buys drugs with their money. I think they are struggling to eat, raise families, pay bills and rent, and pay for health care! How insulting. Waste money on drug testing those who don’t do drugs in the first place-brilliant.

So they did not pass the bill again!! Un friggin believable. I just completed my tier 2 and I am eligible for tier 3 when these politicians get their head out of their a**. But it’s ok for our president to send 400 million to Palestine for aid and relief. Yes 400 million, I did not believe it at first but went on-line to verify. But thousands of Americans can’t pay their mortgage, utility bills and whatever else. The trickle down effect of this is going to be disasterous for this country.

Another thing i noticed was a CNBC report about last months jobs report boasted 438,000 jobs created. Big DEAL what they didnt say was 411,000 of those jobs were Temporary Census workers who are now back on the unemployment line. Bunch of biased bull shit if you ask me

I’m starting to hate this country, i was always very patriotic but boy has that changed. This country is no longer about the people, its about the politicians and how fat their pockets can get.

All politicians are liars. It doesn’t matter if they are dems or GOP they lie. They say one thing and do another. They don’t care about us little people. It doesn’t matter if your rep or dem you’ll get screw one way or another from these guys. I wonder what would happen if everyone boycotted voting. They might just put anyone in office but would it matter? They lie to get into office and do opposite of their promises. I am in the same boat laid of Nov 2009. I didn’t receive 99 weeks either- yep were competing with the first wave of layoffs from 2008- plus I live in a college town. Wonder if these representatives read the news about how employers don’t want to hire the unemployed. God help us.

I exhausted my Tier 2 benefits a week ago. I am now going on my second week of no unemployment benefits. My husband and I are trying to figure out how we will survive if the Senate doesn’t come to an agreement soon. It’s ridiculous that a lot of this comes down to pure politics and us US Citizens are forced to suffer for it. This bill should have been passed by June 2nd at the latest and here we are, June 16th and it has still not been resolved. My husband and I love this country. He is a combat veteran from 2 different wars so we are a very patriotic family but for the first time in my life, I feel that this country is letting us down.

Yes, if this isn’t the poster child of this broken government wtf! They put so many issues together and make it impossible to have a straight up bill vote just for Unemployment and then the republicans have a new battle cry “oh we must not add to the budget!!!” WTF really is this the time for your BS now? Congress will either come to their senses or they will be forced into it. When a person has supported his family, government, state, city, community etc. by working an honest job and paying taxes, only to find themselves in a situation where they receive a pittance(Unemployment Insurance), then have that refused by a civil servants personal philosophy or agenda, ultimately leading the victim to lose home, car, self-respect, dignity, faith in our system……that is when people will start pushing back, what is the worst that could happen? You get sent to a prison with a roof over your head and food in your belly? At least the crooks in there won’t deny that they are using you…..There are jobs in my area as long as you aren’t overqualified, and can convince them that fast-food or retail has been your life long career goal, and that you have no intentions of leaving them for that other career you have invested many years in……

Just read where Manchin will not be appointing an interim Senator until after the Thurs. special session, that is if they conclude all business that day. The earliest someone can be there is a week from this Monday. Do the math, see how many days before August recess. Why is he stalling, even as he says with pressure from Washington. Does he not want his state to be the deciding vote. Do we really want this guy as a senator with all the back tracking he is doing. If Reid waits for WV vote, and does not compromise with the Repbs, this bill if finished until Nov. We don’t need another Repub or Nelson in the Senate. My senators voted yes, but being that this bill effects everyone in the country, I have written and called many Repubs. God help this country.

I strongly feel we will hit a double dip recession if the unemployment support stops. The reason why is because the unemployed makes up a huge chunk of the American work force which helps to keep our economy alive and strong. I think that the Senators whom oppose the unemployment extension need to be educated. Both Sen. Jim Bunning & Orrin Hatch should not be US Senators. Drug testing the unemployed will prove Hatch is an idiot. Why not drug test people on welfare, SS Disability, etc.? There are many people abusing the system that are not part of the American Working Class. The unemployed is the “American Working Class.”

I wish congress would quit with the stimulus funding, it puts people out of jobs so employers only hire the ones they get paid from the govt to hire.

Well its official. I’ve lost my home. If I don’t have the rent paid by July 1, my children and I are homeless. I’ve worked all my life, I am not a deadbeat, I ran out my first 26 weeks of unemployment the day the extension ended. While on UI, I was looking for work aggressively. After awhile, I couldn’t even afford the ink for my printer to print resumes, but at least I had the rent paid so my children had a home. I have two degrees, one in child psychology and one in accounting/business management…and was looking even for waitress work and was turned down for being overqualified. When I told them to exploit me, they just laughed. If this bill doesn’t pass, get signed & go into effect in the next few days, I’m homeless. I’ve never been a whiner or a quitter, but I just don’t know what do do anymore. If it wasn’t for my kids, I might just give up for good.
