We knew it was coming when ‘the’ public allowed a D house, a D senate and now a D president…. An unarmed nation is a lot easier to overcome … Still waiting for the Tax and Spend ?? I’m not a smoker but the recently put into law tobacco tax (avg 20 cents a pack)will pay for healthcare for the Illegals!!! Taking away private ownership of firearms will only keep the law abiding citizens from being able to protect themselves from the gun toting non-law abiding criminals. Ever notice how long it takes for the Police to respond to your 911 calls for help? They are mainly paid to ‘take reports’ of what has already happened before they get there. Think things are bad now Hang on. It’s just starting….

  • Anonymous 02/14/2009 3:05am

according to congressmen last night on Glen Beck this has been snuck into the economic recovery bill. this is why Polosie did not want anyone to read the bill. the seeds of revolt have been sown by our own congress.

Is that really true? How could they attach this bill to HR 1?

  • Anonymous 02/14/2009 5:16am

Please don’t say get out and vote…I did…It got me a new government with old faces promised not to be…most of Clinton’s staff are running the country again! Now they want my firearms…it’s time to take back the country our forefathers founded. The rich need not apply!

It appears were at a cross roads in this Country, there are some of us that feal that a Revelution would solve the problems of our Nation. I for one will not give up what so many have died for.

I served 6 yrs in the Navy. My father was in the Marines. My step-dad was in the Army(Purple Heart recipiant). My grandmother’s brother was KIA in Korea. My step-dad’s father served in Korea. My cousin was in the Army. My other cousin is about to go into the Marines. My fith generation uncle was a Union General.

Duty to country runs in my family and guns have always been a right of passage. On 9/11 I skipped lunch go get what ammo I could afford. I figured if we were to get invaded I would at least protect my block with my life and my gun.

Why would we want to take guns away from law abiding citizens, so then only the criminals would have them. The people will fight this. We stand by and let government take away so much from us while giving it to their “friends” or at least those lining their pockets. It’s about time we stand up and say we’re not going to take it anymore.

  • Anonymous 02/14/2009 12:43pm

The purpose of the Second Amendment was so we could defend ourselves from our government.

We should at least try to stop these fools before they start something that destroys our country.

Term Limits for All of Congress. If they have been in office for 2 terms or more they don’t go back.

What part of “CONGRESS SHALL MAKE NO LAW” Do they not understand?

  • Jsh78mang 02/14/2009 2:38pm

I think the idiots responsible for this and anyone whom welcomes this bill should first read Warren Vs. D.C. it is a sick tale of how well our government and states reallly protect us. Only you are responsible for your own and families protection. It saddens me. My country is failing.

  • Texasmason1984 02/14/2009 4:27pm

This bill is UNCONSTITUTIONAL on so many disturbing levels, it is hard for me to believe that ANY Congressman could even think about trying to get something like this passed. That it has been put forward is an indication that there are some Congressmen who do not care for the constitution or this country on which it is founded. They are also probably wishing that they were in charge of a dictatorship. Can you say Hitler?

I can not put into words the feeling I have towards the party I was once so in-favor of. The closest to what I can say is that this is horrifying to me.

  • Anonymous 02/14/2009 6:42pm

it’s coming America, the Fabian Socialist of Europe are here, and they are running(ruining) our country as we speak. With Obama and his Socialists goons now running Washington, and the main stream media, I’m afraid there is little we can do as they rather swiftly brainwash too many Americans. ONLY GOVERNMENT CAN FIX OUR PROBLEMS?!?!?!? That was our president saying that, God help us all.

  • Anonymous 02/14/2009 10:50pm

I just watched a video on Glenn Beck, a senator for NH said that a gun law was tucked into the socialist bill that was just passed. Does someone have any information about this?

  • cmnetworx 02/14/2009 10:57pm

When only cops have guns, it’s called a “police state”.

Love your country, but never trust its government.

    — Robert A. Heinlein.

“No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms. The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government”

    — Thomas Jefferson, 1 Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

“The best we can hope for concerning the people at large is that they be properly armed.”

    — Alexander Hamilton, The Federalist Papers at 184-188

  • Anonymous 02/15/2009 4:28am

Taxation without representation. Change we need, or change they want? H.R. 45 is unconstitutional.

  • JMT 02/15/2009 8:07am

When seconds count, law enforcement is only 40 minutes away. This is crazy. I’ve said from the beginning that the messiah has been following Hitler’s playbook.

I’m with others, time for an armed revolution to throw the real criminals in the streets, congress. Buy all of the guns and ammo you can.

Time to unite, there are lots of websites on the 2nd Ammendment, Patriotic Resistence is one. We have to all get together.

    James Posig

  • hughescon 02/15/2009 8:27am

Another case of the government taking control of the people. Most law abiding citizens will use a gun responsibility; criminals will get them on the black market. Further, our government would like noting else but to dis-arm it’s citizens. Kill this bill if it ever gets to the floor.

  • Anonymous 02/15/2009 9:59am

Gentleman and ladies, I concur with every one who thinks this bill is lunacy. Is this a move to grab power? Of course, what else could it possibly be. All the records that have ever been kept prove these kind of laws do not work, (regarding reducing crime) consequently, this argument does not work any longer. However, these power hungry lunatics want to force the law abiding citizens of these United States to lament to their desires. THAT MUST NOT HAPPEN. There are (I believe after reading these blogs) still citizens willing to fight for what they believe in, Thank God. We who care about the United States constitution and bill of rights must protect both. If this administration wishes to make a criminal out of the legal gun owners in this country we must become criminals who fight them. I am a piece loving person, but will not be pushed this way.

We must first rely on our supreme court and congressman (and women) to do the right thing, if however, they do not we must be prepared to insist on non-infringement of our rights. If our GUNS are taken away we are doomed to become government slaves, or worse.

Get prepared, citizens, this may be a very long four years. Everyone must be advised fighting will be much more bloody then the last (civil) war, and will be a long fight, but it MUST be done if these types of things become reality.

I for one will not give up my Guns or My Rights.

Here is the link to the actual bill:
    http://www.opencongress.org/bill/111-h45/text

Are you ready for the House Bill titled ’HR 45, Blair Holt Licensing

and Record Act of 2009’. It will make it illegal to own a firearm unless it
is registered with the database in Washington D.C. As a gun owner you will
have to be finger printed, you will be required to provide your DL#, SS#,
you must maintain a valid address at all times, submit to mental and
physical health records being put on file, you will also be required to file
any address changes and any ownership changes even if a private sale. Each
update will cost $25 and if you fail to comply you will lose your right to
own firearms. This bill and its language mirror almost completely one
defeated last year in the House of Representatives by soon to be Chief of
Staff Rahm Emanuel. Will we the citizenry be as lucky this time?

Pass this on to everyone who believes in strict Constitutionalism and

remember that laws only apply to those who obey them. Criminals by
definition and nature do not abide by laws. New laws and restrictions only
apply to the law abiding citizen and are not written with the criminal in
    mind.

With guns, it is not about having laws on the books to prosecute
individuals, it is about taking guns away from the people so that no one has
them in the first place. One last item to note, when assuming power and
creating a facist state, Hitler was a proponent of strong gun laws because a
disarmed populace was much easier to control than an armed one. The kings of
old also outlawed weapons of any kind in any region that they conquered to
quell the ability of the citizens to up rise against them.

The Founding Fathers of this nation understood all of the above and

because of this they included the second amendment in the constitution. In
fact, they knew that at some point in every society’s life span that the
need for the population to arise came about. To this end they made the right
to keep and bear arms against a tyrannical state an absolute right that
    could not be revoked.
They did this because the first thing tyrants and despots do is to remove a
population’s right to defend themselves When this is done, the tyrants have
no problem with the destruction of society as we know it.

Send this on to all true patriots! Protect your Second Amendment! The following is a summary of the bill as provided by the

Congressional Research Service. If you read the whole bill, you’ll find it
will effectively preclude the ownership of ANY firearms by law-abiding
people unless licensed by the Attorney General. How long do you think THAT
    would take??
    Congressional Research Service Summary
The following summary was written by the Congressional Research
Service, a well-respected nonpartisan arm of the Library of Congress.
GovTrack did not write and has no control over these summaries.
    1/6/2009—Introduced.
Blair Holt’s Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act of 2009 -
Amends the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act to prohibit a person from
possessing a firearm unless that person has been issued a firearm license
under this Act or a state system certified under this Act and such license
has not been invalidated or revoked. Prescribes license application,
    issuance, and renewal requirements.
Prohibits transferring or receiving a qualifying firearm unless the
recipient presents a valid firearms license, the license is verified, and
the dealer records a tracking authorization number. Prescribes firearms
transfer reporting and record keeping requirements. Directs the Attorney
General to establish and maintain a federal record of sale system.

Prohibits: (1) transferring a firearm to any person other than a

licensee, unless the transfer is processed through a licensed dealer in
accordance with national instant criminal background check system
    requirements, with exceptions;

    (2) a licensed manufacturer or dealer from failing to comply with reporting

    and record keeping requirements of this Act;

    (3) failing to report the loss or theft of the firearm to the Attorney

    General within 72 hours;

    (4) failing to report to the Attorney General an address change within 60
    days; or

    (5) keeping a loaded firearm, or an unloaded firearm and ammunition for the
firearm, knowingly or recklessly disregarding the risk that a child is
capable of gaining access, if a child uses the firearm and causes death or
    serious bodily injury.
Prescribes criminal penalties for violations of firearms provisions
    covered by this Act.
Directs the Attorney General to: (1) establish and maintain a firearm
injury information clearinghouse; (2) conduct continuing studies and
investigations of firearm-related deaths and injuries; and (3) collect and
maintain current production and sales figures of each licensed manufacturer.
Authorizes the Attorney General to certify state firearm licensing or record
    of sale systems.

Pleased be advised and pass this along: House Bill HR 45, Blair Holt
Licensing and Record Act of 2009 Will, in my opinion, be the first of 2 or 3
steps toward confiscation of privately owned firearms.

You can follow the sequence as it already happened in Canada and the UK.
First the government needs to register the guns so they will know where to
find them. Next they took them away (including shotguns, etc.). Also
remember the gentlemen in England that failed to register his shotgun and
when three gentlemen came into his house and attached and attempted to rob
him he fired killing two and wounding the third. He was sentence to 30
years in prison for protecting his own life (because he used an
    un-registered weapon).

  • swampg8r2 02/15/2009 4:01pm

What happened to the RIGHTS of the law abiding citizen. It is our 2nd amendment right to bear arms. Criminals don’t register their guns. In order for you to purchase a gun or obtain concealed weapons permit, you have to have a criminal history done and fingerprints taken by a law enforcement agency. That is enough. We don’t need this bill. IT IS NOT THE GUN THAT KILLS SOMEONE… IT IS THE PERSON BEHIND THE GUN. We, as law abiding citizens of these Great United States have a right to protect life and property. Don’t take that away from us too.

  • Anonymous 02/15/2009 4:25pm

You won’t take my guns from me. I am a law abiding hard working peaceful US Military Veteran. Don’t even think that this bill will or can be enforced. Not even law enforcement departments across the country, would want to take on this enforcement. To many lives will be lost, and for what? Stupidity.

  • Anonymous 02/15/2009 10:03pm

The only thing that I don’t hear in these comments and elsewhere on the internet is the silencing of the “you can’t do that” voices that say that states can not cecede from the United States. There is no state that has maintained exclusive rights to leave the union. The federal government has broken their side of the contract…. Therefore the contract is null and void. Each and every state when ratifying the constitution took it as a contract with the people. Therefore by breaking that contract they themselves have nullified the contract for which they exist.

Gangs Blamed for 80 Percent of U.S. Crimes.

Isn’t that a better place to start

  • 3709320 02/16/2009 6:21am

Write your representatives. If this insane bill passes, ignore it. If storm troopers start invading homes then it is time to enact the purpose and intent of the 2nd ammendment.

  • randyfaz 02/16/2009 9:12am

I find it interesting that in 1969 Bobby Rush served six months in prison for illegal possession of firearms. Now he is writing a bill to try an license all law biding citizens to register or become a criminal for the same crime he was convicted on.
