    Hey you, HAPPY SYNDROME,

You are talking about the news media, the children will not watch the news with their parents and it is too boring. The news is very realistic. The children are missing the whole point which the parents will not talk about it.

The focus is the movie media and it is all glory and fake. The kids love watching the pretend dead person falling to the ground with the surround sound system blasting away and it is all fake. How do you educate the little children from right and wrong that shooting at the people is ok in the movie.

Enough about this personal issue which you don’t seem to understand.

A good law-abiding citizen have the highest education standard by joining the gun club. They have spend many, many hours of traning about the safety and resposible to handle any firearms. There are more and more women, children and families are joining the club.

Sounds like you fall in the catorgory that you are one of the " The problem is that most people don’t care enough to bother" as you quote. Why not join the club and then you will help with us to educate other people as well.

By the way the way, I am skinny and proud to be the firearm ownership.

You missed the whole point! I am involved in educating MY CHILDREN! Personal accountability means that parents have to take an active in there kids lives and restrict what they watch, who they hang out with and so on. If I didn’t care I would not be reading this and trying to keep up to date with the things going on around me. If I had to take a wild stab in the dark I might say the YOU are the type who like Hillary Clinton and thinks it takes a Village to raise children. But I won’t make that assumption. I will just you clearly are trying to place blame on the types of movies that kids are watching when the truth is that the parents are responible for what influnces thier children not the media whether it be movie based or news.

None of this is an attack on you. I am just tired of people trying to blame someone else for thier actions or inactions.

By the way my children love to watch the news, are invovled in student council and politics as well as shoot guns. Imagine that.

It’s not television’s fault. It’s the lack of parenting out there these days. Parents must educate and keep their kids in line. People must take personal responsibility for their actions.

I watch all kinds of “shoot’em up” movies growing up, but my parents raised me right, and I know right from wrong.

I own two guns and use them respectfully.

bobby rush should be arrested, tried and executed as a traitor to the republic. this is a blatant attack upon the basic freedoms of the citizenry. if the honorable mr. rush would like to come for my firearms, he’s quite welcome to, it would be a rather fun “discussion”. i do hope that he checks to see that he is paid up on his insurance, though, before he drops by. KEEP YOUR LAWS OFF OF OUR RIGHTS, SOCIALISTS!!

I feel sick. Aren’t our elected officials supposed to prtoect and defend the Constitution? It seems as if we may be soon looking at a revolution……assuming that not too many Americans are suckered by Obama’s offers of free money.

  • Sublime 02/04/2009 7:40pm

If congress passes bills like this they’ll have a very good reason to be afraid of guns.

How is it that someone who by law no longer has the right to vote, a convicted felon, can be in a position to make law in the first place? This boob can’t vote for dog catcher, how the hell is it he can introduce/vote for the law of the land?

  • bidthrower 02/05/2009 3:25am

This is why I will never vote for a Democrat period. Too bad too many folks voted for their wallets on false promises and a false hope of change of the Democratic party. Whith the economy, jobs(unemployment),banking and housing issues the way they are its a crying shame that these people waste our tax payer money, waste time and resourses on this non-effecting criminals one bit only us legal gun owners piece of trash they call a bill. I hope we can bump these worthless people out of office like in the 90’s ASAP!!

  • KenAhlstrom 02/05/2009 5:44am

The 2nd Amendment clearly states that all US Citizens are guaranteed the right to own weapons – including guns – for the purpose of mobilization and overthrow of the government, should that government become tyrannical. It is only a tyrannical government that wishes to remove the rights of gun ownership from its citizens – as it is only a tyrannical government that has anything to fear from an armed populace.

  • ostrich09 02/05/2009 5:51am

Mr. Rush, I’m sure as you were sworn into office you swore on the Bible to uphold the constitution of the United States. The 2nd Amendment is in there. If you can’t support the constitution then maybe you should think about resigning your seat.

  • dprcrna 02/05/2009 5:57am

This bill, the product of a self-proclaimed urban waif who now wants to make his childhood neighborhood more dangerous by virtually eliminating self-defense? Go figure.

  • nate 02/05/2009 6:37am

could we get an amendment to mention the 2nd amendment anywhere in this bill?…I mean, it has to abolish the 2nd amendment to become law, doesn’t it?

    “Amendment II

A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."

    in·fringe
    Pronunciation: \in-ˈfrinj\
    Function: verb
    Inflected Form(s): in·fringed; in·fring·ing
Etymology: Medieval Latin infringere, from Latin, to break, crush, from in- + frangere to break — more at break
    Date: 1513
    transitive verb
1: to encroach upon in a way that violates law or the rights of another
    2obsolete : defeat , frustrate
    intransitive verb
: encroach —used with on or upon

It would seem to me that yours and the rights of others to own and bear arms are infringed upon every day. In fact if you look at this site http://crime.about.com/od/gunlawsbystate/p/gunlaws_il.htm you will see that there a many requirement to purchase and own firearms in IL. Aren’t those an infringment on an individuals rights to own and bear arms??? Your rights are taken away from you every day under the homeland security act and the Bill of Rights was not rewritten. Your rights taken away all so the masses could feel safe. So we can make sure you are not a terrorist or helpling terrorist. I say if you want to feel SAFE put a gun in your hand. Thats just my 2 cents.

  • Anonymous 02/05/2009 8:03am

It’s great to hear that this many people have not “drank the Koolaid” and can see what is happening right before their very eyes. The only problem with this is, every time there is some kind of organized militia that is formed or any kind of uprising, it gets shut down. Take Ruby Ridge or Waco, TX as an example. Perhaps the later is a little of a stretch but they were fairly well armed and it was known as a “Compound”.

One mans freedom fighter is another mans terrorist. It’s all how the media spins it. I would love to take this country back to it’s roots.
A country based on religious beliefs, separated from England due to taxation without representation. How did we slide so far away from our roots in such a short amount of time? 232 years and we haven’t learned from history!?!?!? Give them an inch, it will turn into a mile.

Just pay your taxes, be a good little sheep, take your government handout and shut up. No! I am not going to be a slave to my government! People should not be affraid of their government, governments should be affraid of their people. A government FOR the people BY the people.

This is the true agenda on why the government wants to disarm its citizens.

When only cops have guns, it’s called a “police state”.

Love your country, but never trust its government.

“No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms. The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government”

    — Thomas Jefferson, 1 Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

“The best we can hope for concerning the people at large is that they be properly armed.”

    — Alexander Hamilton, The Federalist Papers at 184-188

“Among the many misdeeds of the British rule in India, history will look upon the act of depriving a whole nation of arms, as the blackest.”

    — Mahatma Gandhi

“They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.”

    — Benjamin Franklin, Historical Review of Pennsylvania, 1759.

“The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to allow the subject races to possess arms. History shows that all conquerors who have allowed their subject races to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by so doing.”

    - Adolf Hitler

The people of the various provinces are strictly forbidden to have in their possession any swords, short swords, bows, spears, firearms, or other types of arms. The possession of unnecessary implements makes difficult the collection of taxes and dues and tends to foment uprisings.

    — Toyotomi Hideyoshi, Shogun, August 1588

“This country, with its institutions, belongs to the people who inhabit it. Whenever they shall grow weary of the existing government, they can exercise their constitutional right of amending it or their revolutionary right to dismember it or overthrow it.”

    — Abraham Lincoln, 4 April 1861

“One of the ordinary modes, by which tyrants accomplish their purposes without resistance, is, by disarming the people, and making it an offense to keep arms.”

    — Constitutional scholar Joseph Story, 1840

“Taking my gun away because I might shoot someone is like cutting my tongue out because I might yell `Fire!’ in a crowded theater.”

    — Peter Venetoklis

I have to stop because it can go on and on. Just something to inspire and think about.

  • Anonymous 02/05/2009 9:13am

Bingo, you are all on target when you say this will only hurt people that CHOOSE to follow the law. By definition a criminal does not follow the law rendering this bill impotent. But lets face it the agenda is not to reduce crime or make us safer. The agenda is to take away any gun ownership in America responsible or otherwise. Keep pushing and the American people will push back. I will not give up my Second Amendment rights nor will my brothers and sisters in arms.

“Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the outcome of the vote.”

H.R.45 is the type of legislation which would immediately make millions of innocent Americans criminals while doing nothing at all to hinder true violent criminals. It is an affront to our second amendment constitutional rights and is obviously written by a person who never bothered to read the constitution or actually cares about a citizens rights. Keep this idiot in Illinois.

  • Anonymous 02/05/2009 2:49pm

This is getting out of hand. The Gov. needs to back off with these attempts to control guns. It does not take the guns out the the hands of the “bad guys”; it only makes it harder for the people doing the right thing to own a gun. I seem to recall Obama saying he was going to protect the rights of the Gun Owner. Seems to be just another lie for the White House and those who seek to control it. We should vote every person out and start from scratch. Maybe then we can have some honest people protecting the Rights of the US people.

  • Anonymous 02/05/2009 3:13pm

I think it is time for some real change. I wonder, do we have the will to do what is needed?

Support congressional term limits. We are citizens not subjects. End the ruling class.

I dare them to come get my guns.

I definitely agree with congressional term limits! I’m sick of these clueless corrupt old timers in there with 50 lobbyists in their pockets.

  • goergekiefer 02/05/2009 3:44pm

I don’t think most firearm owners get it. Just like the outlaws I will always own firearms just like the majority of you will. Not the point. This is a very important right we have been given as Americans. It may come to the point when it becomes our only defense against against a potentially corrupt and oppressive government God forbid. We need to be supportive and encouraging for the less convinced to become responsible gun owners. Lets see if we can further the cause by taking the radical redneck thinking out of it so we can create a case that more American citizens will be comfortable about buying into.

    ResponsibilityRequired 03/07/2009 2:15pm

    This is very condescending.

What exactly is Radical Redneck thinking?

  • Anonymous 02/05/2009 4:38pm

    goergekiefer,

No offense but actually you don’t get it. The Second Amendment is not “a right that has been given to us.” The right of self preservation contained within the Second Amendment is an inalienable God given right that no man can “give” or take from us, especially politicians!

I find it interesting you invoke the term “radical rednecks” when in fact it’s the dirtbag gang bangers that provide an ignorant population the perception they hold of all law abiding gun owners in this country.

We are up against decades of well orchestrated anti gun ownership propaganda in this country and there is very little we can do to change the opinions of many people that could care less about our Constitution as long as the government gives them free handouts. A rough road to hoe is before us like never before in the history of this country.

    As was previously posted:

  • inhoff2u 02/05/2009 5:21pm

If I didn’t know better, I’d think that Congressman Rush hasn’t read the Constitution. I’m sure he has…hasn’t he?
Did you read the the purposes of this Act?
    - to protect the public against the unreasonable risk of injury and death associated with the unrecorded sale or transfer of qualifying firearms to criminals and youth;
    - to ensure that owners of qualifying firearms are knowledgeable in the safe use, handling, and storage of those firearms;
    - to restrict the availability of qualifying firearms to criminals, youth, and other persons prohibited by Federal law from receiving firearms; and
    - to facilitate the tracing of qualifying firearms used in crime by Federal and State law enforcement agencies.

HOW does a recorded sale protect the public? ONLY law abiding citizens would register a gun, a criminal won’t.
WHY do we need to be “knowledgable” in the safe use and handling of “qualified” firearms (semi-auto shotgun is qualified), but a pump is OK to keep in the home without “knowledge”. It’s only a matter of time before the pump shotgun is added to the list. And then?
HOW does this restrict the availability of firearms to criminals? They’ll steal it from a law abiding citizen who did register the firearm. Where’s the protection? You want to ensure my protection? Leave me alone, I know how to protect myself.
AND the topper, to facilitate the tracing? Tracing to whom, the law abiding citizen that registered the firearm? So what about the real criminal that stole that registered firearm and used it in a crime. How do we trace it to them? A photo, address, thumb print…yeah that traces it right back to the person who legaly regeistered the firearm per this law.
Congressman…You are WAY off track. Find a country that believes this bull, and move there. This is America! You line England? I’m sure they’ll welcome you.

More drivel from an idiot in Congress who wants to set up even more guns laws. If the laws on the books were enforced, we wouldn’t be having this discussion except to tell the Congressman to forget it (and not in those terms either) Instead of going after the law abiding citizen, go after those straw purchasers who illegally buying and importing guns from the US to the drug gangs in Mexico. They’re breaking the law, not us! 6500 Mexicans murdered last year with guns illegally imported into Mexico from the United States. Tell that Jerk in Congress to pass a law for that!
