What is really sad is that so many otherwise good and decent law enforcement personnel will die trying to enforce such a stupid law should it ever come to pass. I will engage with all the force and tactics available to me if necessary.

what I see in this bill is one more step to ban all guns. looks like they are wanting to find out what doors to kick down first.

Joe_Libertarian 04/21/2009 4:07pm

The creators of this bill, and anyone voting in favor of it, are TRAITORS to the United States of America. It is an infringement of The 2nd Amendment. These are Socialists, Communists and liberals destroying our freedom. This bill does not address violent crime, it only seeks to turn law-abiding citizens into criminals, giving them a legal reason to steal your firearms. This bill will not make anyone safer from criminals, in fact, makes all people less safe.

Hey lefty, did you read what you wrote, “a well regulated militia necessary to the security of a free state.” Sounds like ground for Civil War to me…you are obviously not a true student of the Constitution because you don’t even know what it means.

Hey go have some more Koolaid…I think I heard Jim calling you!

tigermanrick 01/28/2009 11:22am

Really, what does this bill accomplish? NOTHING!! The criminals will still get the guns. The kids that want the guns will still get them, and at that point will send their mother or father to jail because the child has seen where the hide the keys for the gun cabinet, or found out the code for the gun safe. So what does this accomplish? A lot more headache for the law abiding citizen. And it begins! No doubt this is only the beginning.

No politician, no matter how liberal or supported, will ever be as powerfull as my Barrett M107. In my state we have emblazened on our licence plates and on our hearts “Live Free Or Die”. That combined with article 10 of our state constitution which states that the people have the right to revolution, I feel that any attempt at a law such as this will not go without a great deal of bloodshed. I carry everywhere I go, and have stopped a few crimes that would have had far worse outcomes just with the presence of my gun, never having to fire a shot. So, to all of the left wing communists and zealots who wish to take my guns… COME AND GET THEM!!!

hulsered 01/27/2009 10:46am

This is war. Do not be deceived or let it be put down under not ‘politically correct’. This is an all-out assault on what our founding fathers, and so many others, have put their lives’ on the line to defend. The first and foremost way for a government to control the people has always been to disarm them.

Push. Push hard.

Anonymous 01/25/2009 6:53pm

This is War people. The right to keep and bear arms is our Constitutional right and the right of every free man born into this world.

Anyone who would try to restrict or deny that right declares war, so should be dealt with as such.

Maybe it is time for a revolution to take back what our forefathers fought and died for. Perhaps now is the time to fight the tyranny that is rising, and stamp it out like the hell hound that it is.

Maybe now is the time to evict the illegal Federal Reserve fractional banking system from this country and try them for crimes against the people of the United States.

Anonymous 01/26/2009 10:19am

Bills like H. R. 45 will continually be written and proposed, as long as we the people continue to vote them into office or back into office.

Our founding fathers were very specific with the wording of The Constitution Of The United States and its Amendments. They were written clearly and precisely, so no interpetations is required.

The people who right and propose these laws can only make me suspect as to their true motive. And those motives cannot be favorable the the majority of US Citizens.

Maybe it is time to rename the democratic party to the Socialist Party of the USA. It seams more appropriate to the direction this country is fast moving.

It took 185 years (revolution to 1960) to make this country truely number on in the worlds eyss. And it has taken only 49 years to bring us down.

HaroldMott 01/21/2009 9:22am

Hopefully this one won’t even make it out of committee…even if it did make it to law…the supreme court would over turn it. At least as they sit now…

Anonymous 02/03/2009 5:59am

We all need to make an important decision as these bills pass, for there is now nothing to stop their passing. First is registration, next is limitation thru regulation, then comes confiscation. We must each personally decide to either disarm or stand and fight.

Amen! I’m 23 years law enforcement and 3 years military. I have yet to see a gun law/restriction such as this do any good for saving lives, it only causes major civil unrest with peaceful law abiding citizens!

c5matt 02/04/2009 9:08am

bobby rush should be arrested, tried and executed as a traitor to the republic. this is a blatant attack upon the basic freedoms of the citizenry. if the honorable mr. rush would like to come for my firearms, he’s quite welcome to, it would be a rather fun “discussion”. i do hope that he checks to see that he is paid up on his insurance, though, before he drops by. KEEP YOUR LAWS OFF OF OUR RIGHTS, SOCIALISTS!!

Anonymous 02/05/2009 3:01am

How is it that someone who by law no longer has the right to vote, a convicted felon, can be in a position to make law in the first place? This boob can’t vote for dog catcher, how the hell is it he can introduce/vote for the law of the land?

Another believer that thinks the government is looking out for him. If they take away your rights slowly and just a piece at a time it doesn’t hurt so much. As a matter of fact people such as yourself bend over and take it with a smile on their face. Others believe this is one small part of a bigger picture and wish to stop it before it begins. I am with all the other people that want to fight to keep my right to bear arms without infringement or people saying how I have to store my guns. You think a robber or someone that wants to break in and hurt my family is going to wait until I get my gun out of “the safe place”? C’mon!!! Wake up!! I want to be able to put my gun where I believe to be the best place. Government get out of my house!!!!!

mechwarrior 01/30/2009 6:23am

Let’s start punishining those who break the law and quit harrassing the citizens who do not. If this passes, many new criminals will be created. I wish we could pass a law that all law makers would be required to use common sense.

Please, Representatives, Senators, stop this robbery of my freedom. After reading what this bill is going to do, I now fear my government, I fear my President, and I fear the US representatives that introduced this bill.

I want the freedoms guaranteed to me in the Bill of Rights, I want my Second Amendment freedom. We the people are not stupid, we know what this is about, and we know what the outcome is. It is no secret that the authors of this bill wish to take all guns from all citizens. Please. Stop.

Those of you in support of this bill are cruel, totalitarian, mean spirited, and have no concern for American Freedom. I will remember every Representatives and Senators name in support, and so will many others.

I will be silent no longer.

Alaskans: We need to pull out of the mess that the cowards and idiots have allowed to happen in the Lower 48. We can’t do anything about it – we don’t have the numbers – but we can certainly pull the pin and leave. We’ll still have Sarah Palin and some other really good folks, a pretty good constitution, ourselves, and our firearms. (Plus a little oil.)

I say, “A moose steak on the table, a good job, and Freedom!” Let those losers have their armed criminals and their pink politicians, and let them hide in their homes until they lose them as well as their firearms.

America used to be great; Alaska still is. Let’s get out while the gettin’s good.

Remember that you have to renew the license yearly w/ a fee,
go to jail if you move and do not report it,
go to jail if you give/receive a gun without reporting it,
go to jail if you have a gun w/ kids in the house (they might use it)

Don’t forget, if they know you have them they can come and get them!!

About 20 years ago in California, the State decided to ‘register’ all ‘assault weapons’ but they were going to ‘grandfather’ all that were already owned by Californians. They promised that those who had them would be able to keep them – no one else would be able to obtain ‘assault weapons’ (but those who already had them would be able to keep them).

About 90 days after they registered them, the State of California ‘changed their minds’ and told those who had registered their ‘assault weapons’ that they had 90 days to turn them in or they would be coming to their homes to take them.

This law may not “change anything int eh constitution,” but I promise you it is just the first step. Obama and his minions know that if they tried to come in and take everyone’s guns away they’d have a revolt on their hands. They are craftier than that.
Look at how Hitler took over Germany or what Hussein did in the Middle East. The same thing is happening here, but no one can see it! The more power we give them, the fewer freedoms we have. This is NOT the way our ancestors set up our government.

Anonymous 02/01/2009 4:07am

Personally, I think this man is deranged to think he can regulate gun control in this country. Many of us have guns that have been passed on by Will and inheritance and have no intention of using them but we sure are not gonna give them up or be forced to register them and pay all the fees that would be required. This is just another ploy to extort money from American’s.

I have to admit, I figured, at least some of these fact were bogus. I some surfing and found that ALL of them are true. Most of them I found at the Washington Post website.

Why is THIS guy making laws for US?!!!!

mighty1 02/02/2009 3:24am

What is there to say!!!! Gun ownership is a fundamental right of the people that live in this country!
Perhaps this bill will wake up some of the liberals that fear inanimate objects (guns)!
As the saying goes, “only criminals will have guns”.
This absolutely must not be passed!!

Anonymous 01/30/2009 4:14pm

Many comments here are already missing the point… “Illegal” gun sales and ownership is already “ILLEGAL!!” Killing someone is already “ILLEGAL”. This is like saying we need a better death penalty for hate crimes, because the death penalty isn’t bad enough punishment. We need to kill them twice. Come on, Congress, get a clue and have some type of common since. Enforce the laws we have now and that will suffice. I can promise one thing as many have already said here…. “cold dead hands”.

Congressman from Illinois needs to be impeached with their Governor.

Anonymous 01/27/2009 6:01am

the fools in congress think that by banning legal gun ownership that they will have a safer sociaty and world.

they need to view the video in the link below and get a grip on reality. if you ban the legal guns then the streets will be flooded with cheap, foreign guns.

Guns are one of the few things people are still buying nowadays. With the way the economy is looking, I think it would be pretty irresponsible to support any legislation that is going to hurt the gun industry.
