This bill is completely absurd. I am a proud gun owner, hunter and outdoorsman. I am not a criminal, but I would like to think that I have the right to protect my family and home without becoming one. Punish the criminals for gun crimes, don’t take away our rights. Does anyone in DC have any common sense?

There are no laws that grant the people the right to protection-no one is assigned to protect me-I don’t get issued an armed guard to protect me while I walk my dogs at night in a drug/gang infested city. However, the 2nd. Ammendment allows me the option of taking care of that myself…God forbid I ever need it…but if I do, I know my chances of surviving are greater than if I had to wait for the cops.

I came looking for the HJ Res 5 I am new to all this site so I thought I was just a plain old Paranoid granny but holy cow I may never sleep again with all that I keep finding. How do we get through all that could be. When I pulled my head out of the sand it all fell inside the hole, and I am too old to dig another. I’m scared to hide and scared not to. I have grand babies that need to be free like I was once. I feel the doors closing with delibrance from those we at one time wanted faith in. Hold on to your hat cause we may need it with HJ res 5. I have a lot of study to feel comfortable again, I hope.

According to the bill, I have paid taxes on my gun purchases when I bought them, I registered the guns on paperwork I filled out when I bought them, I went through a government required and NRA backed instant background check before I was able to purchase them and I passed a common sense test at the police station before they issued me a handgun purchase permit. Are these type bills the most efficient use of our elected officials time and energy? How about a bill authorizing the distribution of funds for law enforcement to start up permanent “criminal roundup posses”? These officials have run the country into the ground financialy so they need to find a way to generate more revenue by starting feel good legislation that does nothing to thwart crime. How about exremely taxing EVERYTHING that can be used against someone as a weapon? Golf clubs, baseball bats, cars, hockey sticks? Will it ever end?

I think if they pass this gun law,We may as well be living in a communist country, Because our rights don;t count. Actually, they didn’t give you the right to own guns. They just recognised that it is a right you were born with, and they tried to protect it from the government.

Has anyone checked the ongoing amendment(Senate Bill SB-2099)to IR Act of 1986? Senate Bill SB-2099 will require us to put on our 2009 1040 federal tax form all guns that you have or own. It will require fingerprints and a tax of $50 per gun. This bill was introduced on Feb.. 24, 2009 by the Omama staff. HR-45 and SB-2099 seem to go hand in hand. Wow!

My right to own firearms, as defined, is an unalienable right, not granted me by the government, and which the Constitution of the United States is supposed to afford the citizen a protection against the interference of this right by the government. Too many for too long have been willing to sacrifice rights in favor of the “common good”; I’m sorry, but this is far too socialistic for me. These people have been sworn to defend and uphold our Constitution, yet it seems to be tossed aside further and further with each and every move they make.

Of course this is BS and has no way of passing and I read the link – “why do people submit bills that are dead when they are submitted”. Any politician who votes for this nonsense should be drug tested and given a mental evaluation ASAP. I propose having anyone who votes for this should be the one who has to knock on the door of gun owners and ask to see his/her license.

I would suggest that only those citizens who are honest will register their guns and all others will not. Just as if guns are outlawed then only outlaws will have guns.
