What part of “shall not infringe” does Congress not understand? Sounds as if there is any chance a child, what under the age of 21? breaks into your home and uses your gun, you are liable?

Typical government BS. Try to pass a bill w/o letting the American People know upfront. Just shows how crooked our so called “LEADERS” are.

Why don’t we punish the criminals (when they use a firearm instead of slapping them on the wrist put them away). Right now many people that get convicted eventually get out and commit another violent crime with a gun. I think it would be more effective and cheaper just to put anyone who commits a crime with a gun away for life. Don’t give them another chance to use a gun again. Why punish to people who are law abiding citizens?

This bill, the product of a self-proclaimed urban waif who now wants to make his childhood neighborhood more dangerous by virtually eliminating self-defense? Go figure.

After the Cuban crisis Nikita Khrushchev said at the UN that Russia would defeat the United States without firing a shot.Gun control is the second step. The first was the Media turning to the left and supporting Obama.MSNBC has trashed honest reporting. If they can disarm the citizens this country is lost.

Let them try and pry my gun from my cold dead fingers! Too many of my friends have guns to allow that to happen! They will gladly continue using my gun as I did!

Hopefully. But we can’t count on the S.C. They are the parachute. That’s not a plan to make. We fight it before it gets there… all the way, every step. And we make sure that moron that submitted the bill gets voted out of office the first chance we get. To do that we need a strong candidate to put in his place, to run against him.

It’s total B.S. What really gets me is that even if you’re able to maintain the stupid license required to own a gun, you still have to wave your rights, allowing the officials to enter your home at any time (without a warrant) to make sure your gun is locked and out of reach of children. They hide behind the “we want to keep children safe” caveat, but really that’s just their way of taking away our rights and getting around the warrant process. How am I going to keep my kid safe if I can’t get to my gun when I need it? Basically, if you own a gun, you’re opening your door to officials at any time. Welcome to the start of socialism/communism/total government control. So, if this passes, I can say, “hey criminal, come into my house and do whatever you want. I have a gun, but don’t worry because it’s locked up securely enough that I can’t get to it in time to protect myself.” Congratulations criminals. This is your lucky day! Sleep easy fellow Americans!

HEY CONGRESS! Remember, you work for us. Let us also remember that we have the right to ask them to step down if they are not representing the goals, needs and rights of their respective constituencies.

We do not have to set back and accept their voting patterns which are based on an internal process of ‘saving their job’ more than saving their charges.

If your Congressman or Senator is failing, make it VERY PUBLIC, as many times as you can, on as many blogs as you can. Email the very public News entities who can post your true feelings about Political Failure.

What have you got to lose? Your freedoms that the boys in Iraq, Afganistan, Vietnam, Korea, and the WW2 laid down their lives for.

They say they are doing for the good of the Nation, but its for their own that they craft a bill to remove our rights while giving themselves raises, full benefits, and full retirement as nothing but “PART-TIME” workers.

This bill only gives information on law abiding citizens for the government to later track down and take those guns away. It will not deter the sale of guns to criminals and it will not take the guns out of criminals hands. It will eventually make criminals out of actual law abiding citizens!

This is why I will never vote for a Democrat period. Too bad too many folks voted for their wallets on false promises and a false hope of change of the Democratic party. Whith the economy, jobs(unemployment),banking and housing issues the way they are its a crying shame that these people waste our tax payer money, waste time and resourses on this non-effecting criminals one bit only us legal gun owners piece of trash they call a bill. I hope we can bump these worthless people out of office like in the 90’s ASAP!!

the Constitution also states the the Gov’t does not have the right to infringe on the rights we have already…therefore, for the Gov’t to enforce registration, id’s, and all IS an infringement…it also stops my right to protect my nontaxable property, and my family from the gov’t that is trying to do the infringing…sounds to me like YOu are the balbbering idiot.

What a crock! Law abiding citizens already obey the laws. Many of the issues covered in this bill are already covered in one form or another in other federal or state laws.
NOTHING in this bill, as it is explained here, will have the least impact on a criminal’s willingness to procure or use a weapon. It will certainly NOT prevent a person who is willing to engage in criminal behavior from finding or using one.
We don’t need more laws, we need definitive and uniform enforcement of the laws already on the books.

“THIS YEAR WILL GO DOWN IN HISTORY. FOR THE FIRST TIME, A CIVILIZED NATION HAS FULL GUN REGISTRATION. OUR STREETS WILL BE SAFER, OUR POLICE MORE EFFICIENT, AND THE WORLD WILL FOLLOW OUR LEAD INTO THE FUTURE!” ADOLF HITLER 1935

Anonymous 02/03/2009 7:40am

The Canadaians and other countries have done this process and all it has done is cost a large amount of money with no return.
What is gained by knowing who has a firearms. The poeple who do register are not the ones using firearms for the wrong use. SHould we registar all knifes they kill people as well. Don’t focus on the tool but who is using the tool. This law was developed by a tool.

A few words from Thomas Jefferson:

“It is error alone which needs the support of government. Truth can stand by itself.”
“The price of freedom is eternal vigilance.”
“Indeed, I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just: that his justice cannot sleep forever.”
“I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.”
“Rebellion to tyrants is obedience to God.”
“Government big enough to supply everything you need is big enough to take everything you have … The course of history shows that as a government grows, liberty decreases.”
“The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not.”
“The tree of Liberty needs to be watered from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.”
“There is nothing more unequal, than the equal treatment of unequal people.” – Thomas Jefferson

Keep reading the fine print. Yes, it states that you must be of sound mind and body. It also states that you must submit to a mental and physical evaluation at the whem of the government should there be any question is your registration of gun ownership. Are you really willing to agree to such government intervention?? Revolution is a definite possibility in my mind.

The government has already test this out in our prisons, the only ones to have guns in them are the governing body, and there is still just as much crime, drugs and gangs in the prison system that is supposed to be a controlled environment. Gun controll doesn’t work. I don’t think they have ever looked at how corrupt and crime ridden our prison system really is.

Please, why don’t we get back to personal accountability!!! Stop blaming everything on everyone else. We are our own worst enemy. We let this happen. The power that be and the media see an opportunity every time someone uses a firearm unlawfully and cries we must save the children and no one wants to see children hurt or killed right? So lets ban guns. what a joke that is.

Education is certainly the key but it is every individuals responsibility to get the answers to their questions. The problem is that most people don’t care enough to bother. They have what I call the FAT AND HAPPY SYNDROME.

Very naive!!! The government should make you test for a federal license to own a car!! Wake up!! It is one more step in abolishing weapons completely!!! Crack down on people who commit crimes with guns and leave law abiding citizens alone!!!

The people in the state of Illinois need to pull their heads out of their butt’s and elcet people that will do as the people want done. Being from the great state of West Virginia we already have laws in our books to protect gun owners and their rights. Anyone who would vote for such an idiotic bill needs to be removed from office by the people of their state. Only could a bill like this standup in a state so corupt as Illinoins.

The laws that are currently in place already provide protection against criminals. It is already illegal to sell firearms to criminals, and no law abiding citizen does it. Enforce the existing laws!
This IS an attempt at limiting and removing the rights of law abiding citizens and lining a corrupt system’s pockets with more money.

It is OUR RIGHT to keep and bear those arms for our own protection and to keep everyone else honest. If our arms are taken from us, it would be easy for an army to overwhelm the population. If we have our arms, it would be far more difficult.

Are we going down the road to such an occurrence? Who knows? But the possibility always existed for an entire population to be swayed by a charismatic leader with false information and evil intentions. With the right authority (Genocidal psychiatrists) and false information (Jews are mental defectives), Germany murdered millions of its population and surrounding countries populations. But what preceded that event? THE GERMANS DISARMED THEIR POPULATION. The Jews and those with a conscience could not defend themselves. I guarantee you that history would read differently if the German population was armed. So of course, the first step in abusing the rights of a society is LEGALLY disarming the population, and here it is on our doorstep.

How do you make law abiding citizens criminals? You pass a bill like H.R.45. Speak up and help protect your rights, if the second ammendment falls what’s next? The original 10 ammendments are the foundation of our country and they need to be protected.
