You are complete bone head if you think that this bill does not open the door for complete control of guns and gun ownership. I have served ten years in the military (including Vietnam) and 7 years in law enforcement but if this law passes I will, as some others stated, become a criminal myself because I will not under any circumstances give up my guns.

Scary. Hitler did this, Stalin did this…

No offense but actually you don’t get it. The Second Amendment is not “a right that has been given to us.” The right of self preservation contained within the Second Amendment is an inalienable God given right that no man can “give” or take from us, especially politicians!

I find it interesting you invoke the term “radical rednecks” when in fact it’s the dirtbag gang bangers that provide an ignorant population the perception they hold of all law abiding gun owners in this country.

We are up against decades of well orchestrated anti gun ownership propaganda in this country and there is very little we can do to change the opinions of many people that could care less about our Constitution as long as the government gives them free handouts. A rough road to hoe is before us like never before in the history of this country.

As was previously posted:

Laws like this are absolutely ridiculous. They only affect LAW-ABIDING CITIZENS. People who obtain guns illegally, will ALWAYS get them that way. More government BS.

H.R.45 is the type of legislation which would immediately make millions of innocent Americans criminals while doing nothing at all to hinder true violent criminals. It is an affront to our second amendment constitutional rights and is obviously written by a person who never bothered to read the constitution or actually cares about a citizens rights. Keep this idiot in Illinois.

I am a white, law abiding, gun owning, citizen. This racsist hogwash view will do nothing to help us retain our right to own guns. It will convince the other side they have a reason.

The people in the state of Illinois need to pull their heads out of their butt’s and elcet people that will do as the people want done. Being from the great state of West Virginia we already have laws in our books to protect gun owners and their rights. Anyone who would vote for such an idiotic bill needs to be removed from office by the people of their state. Only could a bill like this standup in a state so corupt as Illinoins.

This is THE scariest thing I have heard, ever. This is crazy talk. Are our leaders begging for an uprising? A revolution?

hurricane 02/13/2009 3:51pm

What happens when one of these liberals get their homes broken into and are standing in front of a criminal what will they use to protect their family from harm? AN ANTI GUN BILL. I thnk not. It does not even make a good bullet proof vest!!!!

God Bless All

P. S. Some of the greatest men in our history were called traitors in the begining of our countries days.

I’d like to live to see the day when legislators such as this one who introduce bill’s that thearten the founding principels of this country would be dragged out of the House of Representatives, Charged with Treason Agianst the People of the United States of American, and impresoned in a super MAX for the rest of their miserable lives.

the day we stop honoring the principels our founding fathers established in 1771, we stop being a free democracy……

Why should the everyday man who uses their guns for non-violent purposes be penalized for a right given us by the Consititution. They should just give all welfare, since those who use their guns/rifles to help provide food for their families, will not be able to feed thier families, especially with the price of groceries these days…
Gun ownership was given us by our fore-fathers…now they want to take it away…:P

A few words from Thomas Jefferson:

“It is error alone which needs the support of government. Truth can stand by itself.”
“The price of freedom is eternal vigilance.”
“Indeed, I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just: that his justice cannot sleep forever.”
“I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.”
“Rebellion to tyrants is obedience to God.”
“Government big enough to supply everything you need is big enough to take everything you have … The course of history shows that as a government grows, liberty decreases.”
“The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not.”
“The tree of Liberty needs to be watered from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.”
“There is nothing more unequal, than the equal treatment of unequal people.” – Thomas Jefferson

Nice pipe dream, but that is all it is. Texas is the only state that included in its state constitution the right to succeed from the union. So, until Alaska gets an army big enough to defend itself from the armies of the American Empire, you are living in a dream world.

KenAhlstrom 02/05/2009 5:44am

The 2nd Amendment clearly states that all US Citizens are guaranteed the right to own weapons – including guns – for the purpose of mobilization and overthrow of the government, should that government become tyrannical. It is only a tyrannical government that wishes to remove the rights of gun ownership from its citizens – as it is only a tyrannical government that has anything to fear from an armed populace.

Anonymous 01/31/2009 8:15am

Has anyone really looked into the Blair case? If I remember correctly the gun was taken from someone by the police, then it was sold again after a destroy order was issued, then the police department traded it for bullet proof vests……then a kid got shot with it. It may be another case, but that does happen ALOT. Take the guns off the street, then resell them to a dealer and they get right back out there. Police recyling program.

Jayartiste 02/01/2009 12:22am

People kill people. Know gun ever came alive got up and ever killed anyone. More gun laws will not stop any thing, just 11
weeks after surviving an attempt on his life, President Reagan rejected a call for additional legislation, arguing at a press conference that “there are today more than 20,000 gun-control laws in effect—federal,
state, and local—in the United States. Not one of them have ever stopped people from killing people. More gun laws will not stop that.

Stand by to stand by …… the same thing happened in Illinois and now it is going to happen nation wide. Hold on tight to your 2nd ammendment rights. They are not gonna be around too long unless everyone stands up and says something. Has anyone else notice how this has not been in the news at all? Wonder why they are trying to sneak this thing through. How about some media coverage and a little public outrage/discussion.

I agree this bill needs to squelched before it goes any farther. I was brought up a law abiding citizen and my country is bound and determined to make me a fellon I refuse to register my guns and or my ammunition so if it’s a fight they want I will be a front runner and will die defending our 2nd amendment rights!

Want some more…

Article V – The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.

Article 2 Section 1 – Before he enter on the Execution of his Office, he shall take the following Oath or Affirmation:—“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”

Notice there is no “so help me God” this has been added by some presidents since and is not required in any way.

Please, why don’t we get back to personal accountability!!! Stop blaming everything on everyone else. We are our own worst enemy. We let this happen. The power that be and the media see an opportunity every time someone uses a firearm unlawfully and cries we must save the children and no one wants to see children hurt or killed right? So lets ban guns. what a joke that is.

Education is certainly the key but it is every individuals responsibility to get the answers to their questions. The problem is that most people don’t care enough to bother. They have what I call the FAT AND HAPPY SYNDROME.

I think sponsoring a bill to restrict citizens’ firearms is a foolish act for politicians in light of how they are expecting citizens and taxpayers to bail out their Wall Street and banking cronies.

We want our country to thrive economically and every other way. Right now we’re willing to pay pay pay pay pay if it will benefit America. But that can change. Or am I the only one who is beginning to think we have “taxation without representation”? Politicians need to buckle down, stop worrying about what perks and privileges they can glean for themselves while in office, do the job they were elected to do, stop fighting among themselves like kindergartners, and leave our right to keep and bear arms ALONE.

Repair the economic damage done to our country, by Washington, and focus on promoting citizens’ well being until that job is done.

bidthrower 02/05/2009 3:25am

This is why I will never vote for a Democrat period. Too bad too many folks voted for their wallets on false promises and a false hope of change of the Democratic party. Whith the economy, jobs(unemployment),banking and housing issues the way they are its a crying shame that these people waste our tax payer money, waste time and resourses on this non-effecting criminals one bit only us legal gun owners piece of trash they call a bill. I hope we can bump these worthless people out of office like in the 90’s ASAP!!

The Canadaians and other countries have done this process and all it has done is cost a large amount of money with no return.
What is gained by knowing who has a firearms. The poeple who do register are not the ones using firearms for the wrong use. SHould we registar all knifes they kill people as well. Don’t focus on the tool but who is using the tool. This law was developed by a tool.
