One thing we don’t need is more restrictions on gun owners. Again, we find that the US Government is looking to impose laws that restrict those of us who are law-abiding citizens. If they think that a law of this nature will keep the criminals from having guns, they’re dead wrong. In each instance of gun restrictions, all we find is that the only people who have weapons are the criminals. Do we think that somehow criminals will see the light and turn in their weapons? No…only those of us who legally carry will be forced to abide or become criminals ourselves. Stay safe…stay armed.

They will not be able to build enough jail cells to hold those of us who will continue to maintain our firearms for the protection of ourselves and our families…and I speak as retired from 27 years of Law Enforcement. You can be pro-gun but anti-republican. Why is it always red and blue, Democrat and Republican or Right and Left. I am an Independent (think for myself instead of letting a party define me), progressive ( not all change is good but change is necessary), moderate ( find the best solution for all those involved within reason) and a gun owner ( who believes HR 45 is a bad idea). I do not want to register my guns only to re-apply in 5 years with my little picture ID. What is next, making me out to be like a sex offender and listing to all my neighbors that a “gun owner” is in their neighborhood or that I fail to meet some new criteria when I re-apply therefore making me a criminal.

I live in Indiana and have a “License to Carry a Handgun”, but I cannot carry it 12 miles to cross the border into Illinois. Or in Ohio or New Jersey for that matter. BUT I can go to Navada and get an out-of-state handgun license, and then I could carry my handgun in all the above mentioned states. Why? Try Chicago, Cleveland and Atlantic City, and their connection to the Navada gambling syndicate.

Not only does this bill impeded on our second amendment rights, it also severely oversteps the fourth amendment. Hopefully we will see our Democratic House make a sound decision when voting on this bill.

HR 45 would, retroactively, make every gun owner a felon for doing nothing, literally. The bill provides 60 days to get your license for the guns you already own; how likely is it that the any federal agency can set up a licensing system in 60 days that can handle 100M people? This bill can be used not only to strip you of your right to arms, it can strip you of your right to vote. Think about that.

I’ve seen first hand what happens when only criminals have weapons. I lived in the DC suburbs and saw drug dealers shooting it out in the 12th street tunnel during the 80’s in brode day light.

You are absolutely right about that…. What the Government WANTS the people to forget is that the 2nd. Amendment has nothing to do with hunting and only a little to do with self defense. The 2nd. Amendment was writen, and our RIGHT ot own and cary arms was guarenteed, in order to protect not only ourselves and our families, but mostly to give the people the means to defend ALL of our rights and the constitution against a corrupt Government, such as the one we are now (for quite some time) seeing.

Yeah, like the Attorney General wants all these calls of lost guns. Really, this is not good legislation. There is a reason why people own guns. For us, it’s to have meat for the winter, and to stave off people who would brake into our home. Whoever wants to take away our privledges of gun ownership by placing all these ‘restrictions’ on us is taking away what power we have to ‘throw off such governments’ that would see us in poverty while the people in power are living a lavish life. Why is our government enacting gun legislation that penalizes innocent law abiding citizens, in effort to reduce high crime rates? How many criminals register their guns? (NIL)
Why don’t we look at the real causes for people killing one another? The only chance
of solving this problem is to concentrate on the ROOT CAUSE. It is obvious that most of these reasons are: Lack of parental control, Lack of education, Lack of role models, No job, Negative environment, Peer pressure, Lack of self esteem…

Why not use the death penalty for a deterrent to those who think they can murder? What a novel idea. If people realized there was consequences for their actions, we would have a lot less murder going on. And for those who do, we remove them from society permanently, problem solved.
