I agree with the above comments! The only people this law is going to HURT and HINDER are the law abiding citizens who lawfully own guns. The criminals will only gain a stronger hold on the Americans that can no longer protect themselves... and dialing 911 promotes investigation after a crime has already been committed!

Not only does this bill impeded on our second amendment rights, it also severely oversteps the fourth amendment. Hopefully we will see our Democratic House make a sound decision when voting on this bill.

They must be truly fools that think all the new firearms and mass ammunition being bought into private citizens hands will be turned in if they create this atrocity. I dare say this is the best anti-law and order campaign they could launch short of simply abolishing all the law enforcement agencies effective immediately. I've seen first hand what happens when only criminals have weapons. I lived in the DC suburbs and saw drug dealers shooting it out in the 12th street tunnel during the 80's in brode day light.

You are absolutely right about that.... What the Government WANTS the people to forget is that the 2nd. Amendment has nothing to do with hunting and only a little to do with self defense. The 2nd. Amendment was writen, and our RIGHT ot own and cary arms was guarenteed, in order to protect not only ourselves and our families, but mostly to give the people the means to defend ALL of our rights and the constitution against a corrupt Government, such as the one we are now (for quite some time) seeing.

Registration and licensing gives the Government the tools necessary to disarm (by force) and have TOTAL control over it's citizens...

I DO NOT trust a government that doesn't trust the people it governs. They are public servents, who work for us. The Constitution was writen so those rokes could not be reversed (unless we sheepishly let them be).

The person who is proposing this needs to read the Amendment 2 - Right to Bear Arms. Ratified 12/15/1791.

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

The last part does say Infringed meaning :

In the context of the Constitution, phrases like "shall not be infringed," "shall make no law," and "shall not be violated" sound pretty unbendable.

What part of this is treasonous? The part where our RIGHT to bear arms is constantly being obstructed, mutated, and disregarded. This bill can well be the straw that broke the camels back when it comes to the Federal and State Governments attempt to register take away and restrict or control a private citizens right to own and bear firearms. This country could well be headed for a second civil war over the issue of firearm ownership and possession. You can be pro-gun but anti-republican. Why is it always red and blue, Democrat and Republican or Right and Left. I am an Independent (think for myself instead of letting a party define me), progressive ( not all change is good but change is necessary), moderate ( find the best solution for all those involved within reason) and a gun owner ( who believes HR 45 is a bad idea). I do not want to register my guns only to re-apply in 5 years with my little picture ID. What is next, making me out to be like a sex offender and listing to all my neighbors that a "gun owner" is in their neighborhood or that I fail to meet some new criteria when I re-apply therefore making me a criminal.

I live in Indiana and have a "License to Carry a Handgun", but I cannot carry it 12 miles to cross the border into Illinois. Or in Ohio or New Jersey for that matter. BUT I can go to Navada and get an out-of-state handgun license, and then I could carry my handgun in all the above mentioned states. Why? Try Chicago, Cleveland and Atlantic City, and their connection to the Navada gambling syndicate.

Why not use the death penalty for a deterrent to those who think they can murder? What a novel idea. If people realized there was consequences for their actions, we would have a lot less murder going on. And for those who do, we remove them from society permanently, problem solved.
