From what I have seen regarding the text of this Bill (under either title, H.R. 1359 or H.R. 450), which would, “require Congress to specify the source of authority under the United States Constitution for the enactment of laws, and for other purposes." it seems only logical that it would have long since passed; which is why I am so truly perplexed that this is not already a requirement…

I have been making phone calls to different Congressmen on this issue, trying to find out where “my” Representatives stand in regard to the United States Constitution and its relevance in U.S. law.

As I have been making my phone calls to various Congressmen’s offices one thing cited as a possible reason for H.R. 1359 not getting farther is because of partisan lines… I surely hope such claims are not true, as the Constitution is supposed to be supported by both parties and such a reason would not be anywhere near sufficient. Another possible reason cited by various Congressmen’s offices is that they had simply not seen the previous or current version of this Bill, which would seem to be more logical. If your Representative had not previously supported this Bill simply because it had not crossed their desk, then I would like to take this time to strongly urge that they be given a copy H.R. 450 and chance to review it. I see no reason why every member of the House should not sign on as a cosponsor of this Bill.

The current oath for all incoming members of Congress & the President was enacted in 1884; every one of them takes this oath:
“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.”

Since they all have taken the above oath, every member of our Congress should be in full support of this Bill; if they are not, we the people need to have them pulled from their seats, as they are not upholding the oath (contract) that they made with us.

The Constitution is what created and seats both the Senate & the House and both derive their power from it. With this being the case, I cannot comprehend why there would be a hold up in either the Rules or Judiciary Committees, as this bill appears to be ethical and in accordance with the law.

I am determined we should get this Bill passed this time around! Our government should be required to operate within the frame work for which it was designed, but currently is not.

This is a must pass. It is hard to see why not.

Why is this bill not getting any coverage in the news media? If they don’t
pass it, they just don’t care because they don’t want to serve the people.
They want the power and the money and thats it.

Given the government’s takeover of GM and it’s power grab in full swing, we need to be pushing the resolution full force!

This is certainly One Bill that needs to PASS, but of course Not if politicians aren’t interested in the Constitution.
Spread the word on this Bill………

I will put it on my website www.djproductscompany.com to let my customers know about it.

Bout damned time! This will be going up on every forum I frequent, along with a letter and a tea bag string and tab (since they won’t deliver the actual bag). Maybe the suckers will finally get “FOR THE PEOPLE, BY THE PEOPLE.”

I am amazed that it is necessary to pass a LAW in order to FORCE our representatives to DO that which they already took an OATH to perform. Thank you, Rep. Shadegg and the 15 Co sponsors of this bill. Apparently, you are the only people in the District of Criminals which are there to FAITHFULLY EXECUTE YOUR OFFICE.

  • Ghosthand 04/25/2009 2:46am

Why are there no Democratic co sponsors? Hmmm.

For heaven’s sake, this bill should be a no-brainer…don’t our elected officials support the Constitution? Hmm, if this one passes, that would already put us on the road to smaller government…think of all the bills that would simply have to be abandoned because they lack constitutional authority. Didn’t these people take an oath to “defend the Constitution?”

The other wonderful thing about this bill…it’s short and uncomplicated. And it cites the Constitution as authority!

  • mindeezhere 07/08/2009 1:43pm

Not only should this bill be passed, it should already be assumed to be law. It should pass and be retroactive to have all previous bills reviewed for constitutionality. The government would shrink overnight!

Why isn’t this bill moving forward? Why has it stalled?
