FL -Well the Senate is recessed today, and the decision goes to tomorrow. Why should I even care (though I truly care about those of you that it will help). I am a long-termer, and there looks like nothing for those that have exhausted everything. Unemployed Workers website has a petition to sign to request a Tier V, if any of you are interested (I’m burned out). Have applied for at least 20-30 jobs this week alone and taken online qualification tests, with high results, only to be left out of any opportunity again. I am older, and can’t endure the physically strenuous jobs of my youth at low wage ($7.25 hr). I didn’t even make that much money, and this would still cut my income in half from what I’ve made in the past. At this point, I have more coming at me than I can handle, and I’m putting this whole thing in the Lord’s hands. I’m over it. I sit here everyday working towards a higher degree, while avidly looking for work, and I get absolutely nothing in return.
I was supposed to close tomorrow the 15th, and for this exact reason I cannot. Seeing my dreams of owning a home tangled with the mess that is this bill makes me sad and frustrated. Maybe next week…
Thank you Dems for trying to destroy my dreams. I look forward to participating in your removal this November.
i promise to get 2-3 minimum wage jobs and support myself. i will take any mention of intelligence or my college degree off my resume and get a job. i accept my trashed credit. i will continue to live check-to-check. i’ll humble myself .. but can you help me with my already late april rent first?
this is me giving in. the rich get richer, the poor work harder. fine. i dont have much time anymore. what good is universal healthcare if i cant afford groceries?
I THINK WE HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL THURSDAY TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS. THEY HAVE TO WAIT 30 HRS.
WELL, THEY LOOKING TO SEND $40 BILLIONS TO GREECE TO HELP IT’S ECONOMY AND FOR THE AMERICANS UNEMPLOYED WHAT?
You are right gramps. One bad apple spoiled it. Now we wait till Wednesday. We need 60 votes. Repukelican from Illinois who probably has kids in college and a nice house, maid, gardener thinks we are not an emergency. That we are not as worthy as Haiti and their own corrupt government officials. I am a Republican and I am ashamed of their lack of loyalty and commpassion for the very people who placed them in office. Shame on them! Good thing I live in Virginia fairly close to the WhiteHouse. If they dont move quickly I will be there with a sign “please let me live in your house that I helped pay for”.
Well, there is always one overbearing, self rightous idiot, who is so caught up in his wonderful uneconomically challedged life that he cant see beyond the realism happening to so many of us unemployed who want nothing more than our jobs back. How dare you pompous fool to deny/delay so many who have paid into this great country of ours then bicker over where the money will come from. You dont bicker to give yourself a raise or send monies to countries who are known to be corrupt and will continue to let their people live in poverty regardless of how much money you send for your new vacation spot you intend to create. Boy I would do anything to meet you face to face and let you walk in my shoes. Problem is you sir would never be able to handle the stress. You argue that are children will have to pick up the tab. Thats a good one. Is that really the best you can come up with. That has been happening for decades due to poor management on the governments part that means you!
They didn’t “pass the bill”, They voted to close the debate and move it forward. They have to wait 30 hours to vote. Please correct me if I’m wrong.
FL -still no help for the long-term unemployed, and they’ve just passed it until May 2010, correct? Still no help for those that have exhausted all of their benefits, EB and all Tiers, correct?
They shouldn’t be spending anything to Haiti when we are in poverty.
By the way we won, I just watched as the Senate passed the bill H.R.4851 to extend our unemployment benefits, won 60-34.
This is for you (nmeagent):Do you work? If you do you pay taxes to the goverment that money goes out from us so that if something like this happens we’vd paid in they should pay out………..We just want what help we are intitled too.
Get the National Flood Insurance Program OUT of this Bill! The Senate has left the housing industry without Flood Insurance for two weeks because it is hidden in this Unemployment Benefits Bill. Restore Flood Insurance today and THEN deal with the issue of Unemployment Benefits. Hundreds of thousands of homebuyers have been affected by this lapse in Flood Insurance at the hands of the Federal Government. This “packaging” of unrelated issues within the same bill has to stop! A Filibuster on Employment Benefits should not hurt the Flood Insurance program, but that is exactly what has happened. Thousands of homebuyers have lost their escrow deposits on home purchases over this mess and the US Senate has single-handedly put a STOP to any real estate closing which required Flood Insurance for two weeks, which they took a vacation. Unacceptable!
What gives you the right to demand that government officials steal resources from other families to feed yours? What gives you the right to seize more of our meager resources and send us ever closer to that same local food kitchen? You decry the ‘insensitive’ and ‘immoral’ people of this country while trying to continue sucking the very marrow from their bones. Shame on all of you indeed.
Today there was a discussion in Washington about the Chinese currency. Mt reply to them was:
Who gives a crap about Chinese currency. I know the implications of all the different currencies but these guys, even during their break, are dealing with stuff that has NO bearing on the long term unemployed who lose all their beneifts April 5 because Washington feels it’s more important to take a 3 week vacation than help REAL American citizens. Shame on all of you but I bet you all had a great Easter while many of us had none or if we did it was at a local food kitchen. How your consciences can ignore what is happening to hard working, tax paying citizens who are out of work because of all of you is beyond me. I have never know of such insensitive, rich, immoral people as those who run America.
Vote all the incumbents out in November, out with the old, slimy, crooks! We need a new Senate and Congress and POTUS!
How can congress send $1 trillion dollars to Haiti knowing full well that this money will never be repaid, and congress is complaining about spending 1/100th that amount on people in there own country people who voted them into there current jobs.
This also affects all military (active duty, retired, and their family members) by implementing a 21% cut in Medicare reimbursement to physicians. Medicare/Tricare are linked. If this is allowed to take effect it will mean cuts in care for all seniors and military. Remember, it means the military currently fighting our wars. Their family members could and will be denied access to healthcare even as their military spouses are fighting and dying for this country. This important issue is tied to Colburn’s Viagra issue among other bullshit pork!
I live here in Virginia and have every intention of coming to the White House front door if HR 4851 doesnt pass. I will be bringing my childrn with me so that YOU, Mr. President and You Senate members can explain to them why mommy cant put a roof over their head!!!
Mr. President and members on the Senate,
I hope you are enjoying your traveling and family during this holiday. I however am stressing over keeping a roof over me and my childrens head. I am a Builder and Developer. My talents certainly over ride those of my competition “men” however with the job market in my field suffering the worst hit due to others “Banks, Government” I have been unable to find work for 13 months now. I have two checks remaining for unemployment with no prospects. I have had 2 interviews “2”. I have lost my nice home, my credit is destroyed, everything I have worked for is almost gone. Where is my BAILOUT? My company has been granted one of your useless Stimulas but my company can not get financing for the Infra Structure in order to access the Stimulas funds. Will you people please get off our Holly asses and do your jobs. I vote. I count. You are suppose to hear me, hear the people your crappy decisions have affected. Pass 4851
Now they’ve reduced the amount to Haiti or so they say. Good ole media with their BS but even if it is a dollar that is too much to send anywhere as long as America is in such horrible shape.
They don’t have an problem sleepimg because none of them have a conscience. That they have made very clear.
Washington is on break until April 12th. Nothing will get done before then unless Obama or Pelosi call them all back from Easter break.
Cloture vote at 5:30, which starts the 30 hour clock, which means a vote Wednesday morning or afternoon.
FL -FYI (I called the UC office to check for any possible extensions for those with exhausted benefits, and was told to call back in 3 weeks for update or keep an eye on the website. It looks as though the long-term unemployed just may have a chance with this one, despite the wait; and this one will be retroactive)/April 12, 2010:
The Senate will convene at 2:00 p.m. and will be in a period of morning business until 3:00 p.m. with the time equally divided and controlled.
At 3:00 p.m., the Senate will resume the motion to proceed to H.R. 4851, the Continuing Extension Act of 2010 (UI/COBRA et al). The Republican Leader will control the time from 5:00-5:15 p.m. and the Majority Leader will control the time from 5:15-5:30 p.m.
At 5:30 p.m., the Senate will proceed to vote on the motion to invoke cloture on the motion to proceed to H.R. 4851. That will be the first vote of the day.
I feel that this is about delay, delay, delay. Congress does this over and over again. The feeling I get is that they feel if they make sure we have a gap between tiers it will force some of us back to work but all it does for the most part is force some of us to take part time work and then when the next tier comes along they don’t qualify for it because their income is too high.
What about the Unemployed that has Exhausted all Tiers ..and Have no Jobs or Benefits left to pay for their basic needs …Where’s their HELP!!!!
Unemployment Line Stays Long: Up to 26.4 Million Seek Full-Time Jobs
Unemployment is expected to remain above 9% for at least the next two years, according to Christopher Woock, research associate for The Conference Board, and other economists.

Can any one say “DEPRESSION”
No extension vote till they come back from their EASTER break ( April 12th). I wonder how they all sleep at night when there are so many of us running out of time and money. I don’t sleep well, considering I can’t find a job and my Tier 1 will run out and I will not be able to get Tier 2, thanks to those in Washington not taking care of bills HR4851 or HR4213 before they go home for two weeks. I spend my nights wondering how to feed my daughter and keep a roof over her head. I’m a single parent and the sole provider. I’ve never been on welfare or homeless, but I may be homeless soon. I will make sure that I vote in November. As far as I’m concerned both parties let us down. They were to busy fighting over the health care bill. Maybe they should walk a mile in the shoes of someone fighting just to survive. Must be nice to have a two week vacation. No worries or thoughts of being without food or shelter and no worries about those without jobs and without benefits. Thanks Congress.
I’M 100% WITH YOU. WE ARE RUNNING OUT OF TIME AND THE CONGRESS STILL DON’T SAY NOTHING ABOUT IT. THE GOOD EXAMPLE STARTS AT HOME, NOT THAT WE DON’T WANT TO HELP OTHERS IN NEED,BUT OBAMA SHOULD START FIRST WITH THE AMERICANS THAT WE ARE SUFFERING FROM THE LACK OF JOBS IN AMERICA.IF WE DON’T GET THE 5TH TIER,IMAGINE HOW MANY PEOPLE WILL START GETTING PROBLEMS WITH PAYING OF THEIR RENT, OR MORTGAGES,PAYING THEIR CARS, INSURANCE, BUY FOOD,MEDICINE,ETC,ETC…..THENTHE ECONOMIC CRISIS WILL ENCREASE,SO IS TIME THAT THE GOVERMENT TAKE ACTION.
