This is a ridiculous waste of taxpayer money. The government has already thrown $175 BILLION into this hole. Unfortunately, a lot of residents there have walked around with their hands out their entire lives: I’m tired of having my hard earned dollar stolen to give to those who refuse to take care of themselves.

Guess what guys? Galveston county is still flat, 6 months late, and no one seems to give a damn. But we have to continue throwing money to Katrina “victims” for four years… when is it going to end?

I agree with Genevieve. In addition people knew the dangers, their state officials did not take actions to protect the levy… enough said. Besides look at all the abuse “the Victims” have instituted and regain some of those funds instead.

Yet another bone head bill proposed..Why not submitting a bill to outlaw hurricanes?

Ridiculous waste of money! Not only is forecasting not able to perfectly predict the weather (although they did a FANTASTIC job with THIS storm), the weather is going to happen whether we predict it or not. Choosing to live in a high-risk area is, well, high risk! Local and state government was responsible for ensuring the public safety and zoning people out of high-threat areas.
