I think a day of recognition is to much but the part about giving $5,000 to military men who are being discharged to help with becoming a civilian is a good start with helping the soldier. Save the money you would give for celebrations and increase the amount to, say, $10,000. Better use of money in my opinion.
As a vet who supported Bush’s decision to take this action, I really don’t think a recognition day for Iraq success is appropriate. Also, the military did a poor job of recognizing who was in Iraqi Freedom – some of us have orders that say Qatar but deployed to Iraq frequently. If there is money to give, put it in the hands of the VA to help those who were deployed into theater and are affected because of it.
1. What success?
2. This war is illegal and fraudulent and those who started it should be executed for high treason.
