When I left my comment, I was speaking interms of protesting, not violence. What happened in AZ was a senseless horrific tragedy!!. My thoughts and prayers are with all who were hurt and killed.

I agree and my prayers will also be forward. Mrs. Lee needs to move this bill forward Immediately. 20 million unemployed continue to be out of work and that number will only rise in the coming weeks. This bill must be first and foremost on the minds of both house and senate. We can not (99ers) sit idle by and wait for either house to act or put this bill off any more.

    We can sit here all day and talk about how wonderful the economy might be recovering, when truth speaks in numbers the opposite is happening. I myself have been laughed out of applying for work because employers will not hire individuals that have been on unemployment.(FACT). I have done all the right things to get a well design resume out there in front of over 1000 employers. I have gone back to school to increase my chances of employment. AA and continue to work on my BA. Three responses I have experienced in this endeavor are;

    (1) Because you have been out so long we can not hire you.
    (2) Your over qualified and we can not benefit or hire you because of your education. It would be unfair to you.
(3)We are unsure how the economy is going and are not hiring at this time.

Further more increasing your education does not work either. We need to stay consistent and write those in power to change things(Congress men and woman)> Write your local papers and tell them to stop making things look so perfect in this world. People(unemployed)are and will be homeless double dipping the crime wave to increase for those that are just trying to survive. And tho this may seem funny to those in congress to take there sweet time in responding to those of whom voted them into office many Americans wonder were their next meal is coming from. Were there next home maybe. How will they be able to tell their children that they must quit school and live on the streets because they cant afford it.

Presto! 9.4% Unemployment! How The Government Lies.

    Hooray…Happy days are here again!

That is exactly what the elite would have us believe with the 9.4% unemployment number in this huge CONfidence game otherwise known as the USEconomy.

“During times of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act” -George Orwell

We were having dinner at my in-law’s house and I had overheard the TV playing in the back ground. At one point, I thought I had heard the squealing of teenagers who were fawning over Justin Beiber. Instead, it turned out that it was someone on the news reporting the new, much lower 9.4% unemployment rate. I could hear the panting of excitement spoken by the breathless reporters who were interviewing very serious economists about this new 9.4% rate. The news aired their personal interest piece about a girl who was just hired at an internet company. She commented with the utmost confidence that the economy was getting better!!

You have all heard that saying, “it is a recession when your neighbor loses a job, but when you lose a job it is a depression.” Well, according to her, we are out of her depression.

But alas, this is all a dream and the media is using their very best, tried and true propaganda to keep the people from getting too upset with reality. Let me just state that the real rate of unemployment is much, much more than the 9.4% and if the government really reported what was really going on, there would be revolution in the morning. Allow me to destroy this fictional 9.4% number and the billion dollar propaganda machine that provides cover for the trillion dollar banking and government schemes. I will accomplish this magical feat with writing a blog post in my pajamas. That is real magic!

The latest U.S. Labor Department data indicated that non-farm payroll added 103,000 jobs in December, which is far short of expectation, but the unemployment rate somehow managed to fall sharply to 9.4% (from 9.8% in November) far exceeding expectation.

103k Jobs Not Enough To Drop Unemployment Rate

The current consensus is that the U.S. economy would need to create 150,000 to 175,000 new jobs each month in the next 5 years or so, at minimum, just to restore the 8+ million jobs wiped out by the Great Recession.

Since the nation added only 1.1 million jobs in total last year, or averaging 94,000 jobs a month, the 103,000 new jobs added, coupled with a 0.4% drop in unemployment rate in December, simply does not make much sense.

Nevertheless, a closer look at data the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) tells that the drop in unemployment had very little to do with newly created jobs. Instead, it was primarily due to 260,000 workers dropping out of the labor force.

There were 3.2 million job openings on the last business day of
November, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today.

    http://www.bls.gov/news.release/jolts.nr0.htm

There are far more 99ers than that, and that number includes all temp and part time minimum wage jobs.

The real number of unemployed is well over 20 million.

and growing everyday. We need to get HR 6556 back on the floor before any other business is done. Rock groups can get up on stage and raise funds for people all over the world but not one response from them when it comes to the unemployed? When we do not take care of our own first it tilts the voting poll one direction. I say we need to DEMAND this BIll be Herd before any other business be done.It has to be brought back up. Here’s a thought,Lets ask Congress to tell a child they can get the basic necessities of life because they do not care. I gave a young family $50 dollars so they could enjoy Christmas. I could afford to give away $50 dollars but did it because I understand the problem of our Government.

    wstaff 01/13/2011 8:07am

that should of been I could not afford to give away $50 dollars. Regardless I was not about to see children starving on Christmas day. Tho I wish I had billions more to those that did starve including friends of mine. We use to take in one homeless family on thanksgiving and Christmas day. In a few days I hope someone will return the favor as that is the direction I will be going soon. I’m not asking for pity, I want everyone to keep pushing HR 6556. Who knows maybe turning to drugs is a great alternative at least the hurt will lesson. Purely Sad and upset.

Looks like the number of Americans filing for first-time unemployment benefits rose to an estimate 445,000 from an revised reading of an estimated 410,000 in the previous week so it seems the Xmas holidays delayed some of the first time filing for unemployment making it look like the economy is getting better but in my opinion its still struggling.

Giant Spike in January 13’TH New Unemployment Claims Data

Talk is cheap we need action.

Claims: Where Are The Apologists Now?

    The Survey Says!

“In the week ending Jan. 8, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 445,000, an increase of 35,000 from the previous week’s revised figure of 410,000. The 4-week moving average was 416,500, an increase of 5,500 from the previous week’s revised average of 411,000.”

    It’s worse….

“The advance number of actual initial claims under state programs, unadjusted, totaled 770,413 in the week ending Jan. 8, an increase of 191,686 from the previous week. There were 815,593 initial claims in the comparable week in 2010.”

    770,000?! Holy crap.

Now here’s reality folks – I said last week that I didn’t believe the “3 handle” folks nor that the problem was over, and that seasonal distortions and idiocy in the labor department was responsible. Of course “idiocy” implies unknowing distortion, which is a damn hard argument to make when the “errors” are all in one direction – and they both are and have been.

    How about intentional lies instead?

In any event this ought to take some hot air out of people’s BS-running lungs.

The other not-good thing is that the ranks of those going back into the extended programs was up for the week of the 25th too – by 195,000.

This is unambiguously bad – extended benefits AND initial benefits both up materially, and note that this was a week during which people said that the claims numbers were generally “good”.

    Nope.

Wake up folks – the supposed “economic expansion” is complete crap and is all government blowing money they don’t have.

The end of that rope is approaching.

    Fast.

And the floor of the canyon we’re rappelling down is 500’ below us.

Retail sales were indicated to be lower in December than in November. This shows that consumers are still being very cautious about the economy and still not convinced that we are covering yet. Jobs, Jobs and Jobs is the root problem and we need support to fix this root problem.

Evergreen Solar – estimate to be the third largest maker of Solar Panels in the United States is now laying off up to 800 workers by March. They are taking the work to China. We need to find a way to keep the manufacturing base in the United States and bring the jobs back.

One of our volunteers, Michelle, was kind enough to share a link to a broadcast from ABC News on Sunday about 99ers and future job growth prospects which indicates that we all must remain vigilant towards pressing for action. Please continue to share any positive news that you may have so we can continue to keep ourselves energized for this very critical cause.

It seems that if to add weeks to an unemployment extension has to be paid for why not pull some of the funds from the billions spent on farm subsidies.

For those interested in trying to contact newspapers, television stations, and radio stations in your area, this link is a great resource for addresses and phone numbers. Boosting media attention to the state of America’s millions of the long term unemployed and the 99ers is a must going forward.
