Scott- Thank you so much for your continued effort to help the 99ers. I did post on the latest story you wrote. I am not sure of others but I am finding it hard to get work and I’ve tried everything short of holding up a business and demand work. We need to drive a petition that the HR 6556 Bill Be priority in both Houses. 99ers that are not out on the street live only on hope, those of us that can continue this fight need to make the unheard voices herd once and for all. If we can raise 1.5 million signatures and call it an emergency Bill
they be dammed not to hear us.

If you did not get a chance to see the Ed Show last night, please take the time to follow the link provided – Ed was in rare form providing GREAT support for the 99ers and mentions a brief story about one of “Michael’s Plan” volunteers Gerry DePietro that attended the press conference in D.C. yesterday (God Bless her!).

I also want to personally thank all that have responded to my article yesterday – it did my heart good to see all of you respond. We all know that now is the time to quadruple our efforts again – we have been too quiet for too long now – it is time to shake the tree again – God Bless us one and ALL!

“Those who complain about the spending associated with this bill ignore two key factors. First, this bill costs only a fraction of what we spent on tax breaks for millionaires last year. Second, unemployment benefits have always been considered emergency spending.”
http://thehill.com/blogs/congress-blog/economy-a-budget/143005—supporting-our-most-vulnerable-workers-in-their-hour-of-need

“The bill would provide 14 weeks of emergency unemployment benefits to people who have exhausted all their benefits and are still unemployed.”
http://www.examiner.com/unemployment-in-san-diego/lee-scott-call-on-house-republican-leadership-on-behalf-of-99ers

The more clicks they get the more money they make the more money they make from stories about the unemployed the more they will write about the unemployed.

Remember to google “unemployment extension” “long term unemployed” and other such terms several times a day. We have won this fight before we will do it again.

The unnecessary rail system;

WasMiddleClass – You bring up some great points. I just read today that Americans will be spending 53 million on a new rail system? Now why I first argue wasteful spending, I wonder if it wasn’t part of the package deal by the Chinese loan. 53 million would be a great start in getting the homeless and unemployed off the street as well as build jobs. Yes? It will be interesting to hear the (talking out of both sides of the Mouth) In the coming months. Republicans want to stop the over spending but in the same breath want to send pork barrel spending on projects that could be placed on hold until the jobs increase and we get every unemployed (American) back to work.

sclark113- Supposedly Senator Lee is suppose to bring the bill back up today..that of course is after the who rah rah taking place this afternoon.

99ers Organizing To Rally for Tier 5 Unemployment Extension; CBO Estimate Questioned
February 8th, 2011, Michael Danielson

NREUI — the Nationwide Rally to Extend Unemployment Insurance — is seeking names and locations in an attempt to set up a massive, coordinated, peaceful demonstration to encourage Congress to enact a Tier 5 unemployment extension. The rally hopes to see at least 25 people at each of at least 50 unemployment offices across the country. They currently have less than two hundred names; if you know a 99er, send them a link!

Oppression, unemployment and poverty are not just Northern African struggles. They are also prevalent in America. Ironically, homeless Americans are already on the streets, just not yet transitioning their poverty into rage.

Most of us who are housed see homelessness as a nuisance, a blight on America’s landscape. But for those who struggle on the streets battling freezing weather, empty stomachs, and young bullies who beat up on homeless persons, homelessness is not a nuisance. It is oppression.

I wonder if the tipping point for rage against homelessness will occur when homeless Americans use their large numbers to object to this country’s policies against poverty.

Or will an uprising have to wait until housed Americans join them?

Are Homeless Counts Like Counting Sheep?

If you were one of those compassionate Americans wanting to help resolve the sad state of homelessness in this country, you may have woken up hours before the sun rises to help your local city count homeless persons.

I know how it works. You drag yourself out of bed hours before you typically get up, so you can scour the streets counting the heads of sleeping homeless people.

One, two, three, four. Forty five, forty six. Seven hundred thirty seven, seven hundred thirty eight.

If you were in Los Angeles, incredibly the homeless numbers turn into five figures. Eighteen thousand three hundred and forty nine… You get the image.
Every other alley you look down, every freeway overpass you walk under, and nearly all parks seems to have some sleeping person rolled up in a ball fending off the early morning January cold…

I mean after all you live in a glass house with a cute white picket fence everything in your world is great? Right? And the press is not any better.
Clearly all other news is more important..Right? Unemployment ? Didn’t the government just say things are looking better? After all they are gods spoken truth and why would they lie to us ? President Obama invites super singer to white house for super bowl party!!! “A hope for change” is what he said during election time. How about 1.3 million still out of work and increasing daily? Is this the hope for change you were looking for? The biggest Power in the world and not one crumb, small coffee or hey lets invited a few homeless people into our home for super bowl? Although I know you have to play it in the interest of what they tell you to say. Homeless person/s in the white house just wouldn’t be good “PR” (public relations)for the government because that would mean that they actually care….Right?

“I Will not be beat Down” For those friends I have met here, I am Back although only a little better then before. Still out of work but hey sold my gaming computer for 250.00 just to get the internet reconnected, but it’s alright. Separating needs and wants and one day hopefully I will get myself out of this god forsaken wrath called homeless. People have really forgotten what a dollaris really worth. It can buy a cup of coffee on a winters night. Buy a burrito for a person who is very hungry. Millions of stories just like this over the blogging internet. I have given to those in need beyond my own means, but I am no hero…NO. Something this country is lacking and continues to lack. People helping people !!!!! The government only wants one thing to happen in this recession. They want the 99ers to just go away. Not surprising you bring the issue of unemployment up and senators will quickly try to change the conversation or plainly just walk away.
