Please consider this important bill that would increase the coverage for COBRA from 18 months to 24 months. ALthough I have been paying for my COBRA, sometimes at the expense of eating, I still would prefer the option of continuation for a longer time than to have no coverage at all, especially since I have a pre-existing condition and will be denied coverage with private insurance after COBRA expires. I was inelligable for the subsiby that assists people with their COBRA premium because I BECAME UNEMPLOYED INVOLUNTARILY ON JULY 1, 2008, ONLY 2 MONTHS BEFORE THOSE LUCKY PEOPLE WERE DEEMED ELIGIBLE. Although I do not understand how September 1 was chosen as the cutoff date, since MANY AMERICANS WERE IN TROUBLE LONG BEFORE THAT!

Thank you for your consideration of this bill to assist with extension of COBRA benefits.

Please help this bill become a reality. It is estimated that September 2008 unemployed Cobra participants will be without health insurance as of March 31, 2010. There has to be many of us; I cannot get insurance and have even approached my insurance company to request an extension of Cobra Benefits. Fat Chance; why would they want my $1,893.00 per month? I have cashed in my 401 retirement benefits to ensure that my family remains insured, thank god for the subsidy but please endorse the bill to extend Cobra Benefits from 18 to 24 months.

I found out yesterday that the Cobra subsidy has been extended to 15 months.
The bill was signed by Obama on Dec 19,2009. Our insurance company sent a bill
for the reduced premiums that needs to be paid by 1/31/2010.The companies have
been given 60 days to inform laid off workers that they have six more months of insurance at a 65% discount.
Thanks to BO & congress for this extra time.
