Official Summary

2/4/2009--Introduced.Dental Emergency Responder Act of 2009 - Amends the Public Health Service Act to:
(1) revise the National Health Security Strategy to include increasing the preparedness, response capabilities, and surge capacity of dental facilities and effective utilization of any available mobile dental assets; and
(2) provide that federal dental entities shall carry out activities under the public health and medical response training program. Amends the Homeland Security Act of 2002 to:
(1) include dental personnel within the definition of "emergency response providers"; and
(2) require the Chief Medical Officer of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to serve as DHS's primary point of contact for the dental community with respect to medical and public health matters related to natural disasters, acts of terrorism, and other man-made disasters. Amends the Post-Katrina Emergency Management Reform Act of 2006 to require operational plans developed by federal agencies with responsibilities under the National Response Plan to address the preparedness and deployment of dental resources.
