There is NO-THING democratic about “socialized” medicine. The H.R.956 – HealthCARE Act of 2009 bill strips away the freedom of choice (pg 16& 17), desecrates the values that this country was built on, and demoralizes the elderly who have contributed to the system their whole life (pg 425) – only to have it regurgitate on them in the golden years. What an irony…democrats supporting socialist communistic medicine???

I’m trying to understand all POVs. What exactly did you read on the pages you site that says this?

So far, everything I have read in the bills (since there are at least four now) states that these bills are being proposed as a public option to help keep the costs of health care down.

Now, I’m not sure if it would actually work as proposed or be economically viable, but I live in a very poor area of West Virginia where lots of people can’t afford health care and, as a result, are soooo unhealthy, it’s sad. Obama has said we can keep our current insurance if we like it and that the idea of these bills is to keep insurance costs down.

    How is that bad?

For a huge percentage of Americans, so called “choices” are: pay the rent, or go to the doctor. Buy food or buy medicine. Quit my job and get medicaid, or work and get nothing.
“the values this country was built on”?—You mean slavery, mass murder of native Americans, illegal land appropriation? Know your own history much?
We already have an undemocratic form of socialism in this country, whereby the wealthiest 10% are supported by the other 90% through tax exemptions, loopholes, subsidies, and predatory pricing.
Under Democratic socialism, on the other hand, everyone contributes and everyone benefits. Yeah, why would we want that?

Wake up America! Do you really want this?

    Socialism
    Noun
A political and economic theory or system in which the means of production, distribution, and exchange are owned by the community collectively, usually through the state.

Time to vote the Dems. out! Nov. 2, 2010!!!!!

    DEMOCRACY:
1 a : government BY THE PEOPLE; especially : rule of the majority b : a government in which THE SUPREME POWER IS VESTED IN THE PEOPLE AND EXERCISED BY THEM directly or indirectly through a system of representation usually involving periodically held free elections
2 : a political unit that has a democratic government
3 : the principles and policies of the Democratic party in the United States <from emancipation Republicanism to New Deal Democracy — C. M. Roberts>
4 : THE COMMON PEOPLE especially when constituting the source of political authority
5 : THE ABSENCE OF HEREDITARY OR ARBITRARY CLASS DISTINCTIONS OR PRIVILEGES

If you know how to read, you will understand that what you wrote, the definition of socialism is DEMOCRACY APPLIED TO ECONOMICS. Get it? The country belongs to ALL of us, the gov’t belongs to ALL of us, and the economy belongs to ALL of us!!

    CONT…
    CAPITALISM:Noun
an economic system in which investment in and ownership of the means of production, distribution, and exchange of wealth is made or maintained chiefly by private individuals or corporations.
    AUTHORITARIANISM:Noun
a political system controlled by non-elected rulers who usually permit some degree of individual freedom.
    DICTATORSHIP: Noun
an autocratic form of government in which the government is ruled by an individual, the dictator , without hereditary ascension.
    PLUTOCRACY:Noun
A form of government in which the supreme power is lodged in the hands of the wealthy classes; government by the rich; also, a controlling or influential class of rich men.

Read the definition of capitalism & the others listed here. Then look at democracy again. Then look at socialism again. It shouldn’t take long to see which go together and which don’t. You’re right about one thing: Wake up, America!!

In response to the River Falls Journal Editorial to the abortion issue.
I do believe that, by law, everything NOT explicitly excluded is generally included.
The $250,000 comes directly from Mr.“Hey, big Spender” Obama himself. If his oral statements and the written bills don’t coincide, than that’s a troubling issue in itself.
More bothersome is the way those bills are written. They work like a rubber band. You can stretch it(interpret them) anyway you can.

Since when has the government been able to do ANYTHING better than private industry?
This is about government POWER, not improved healthcare. If the government could cut costs so efficiently, why have they not done it in Medicare?
You and all your descendants will become slaves to the government. Who is motivated to work when the “government” will take care of everything?
Take a look at multi-generations of welfare recipients, and you will see the future of this country.
