The treaty of Guatalupe Hildalgo was signed about 160 years ago, agreed it was signed at the point of a gun but that does not mitigate the passage of time nor does it point out that many of the persons that benefited from the treaty were mostly Mexicans or Americans that had accepted Mexican citizenship. The treaty made all of them American citizens. The treaty also gaurenteed all land grants given by the Spanish crown which preceeded the Mexican government of General Santa Anna who removed the lands from the original holders and took it for himself under the guise of government and at the point of a gun also, then distributed the lands to his supporters and lackys. So, what is there to compensate? If the decendents that want this issue to be brought to light so that they can be compensated for their ancestors being tricked or fooled or forced out of their lands by “Americans”, they may find out more than what they really want to know.
