Yup, and the states could just handle the entire thing.

    Good luck with that.

Also, can you make it retroactive to when I started working? And can I get a refund of that money I gave you since then? Oh and I’d like a pony too. And a Red Rider BB Gun.

    Go for it Ron Quixote!

Oh its not a Ron Paul proposal — I saw his name there – but now I see its just that all the Ron Paul fans are tracking this bill too.

ken, are you threatened by Ron Paul or something? Is that why you resort to making comments that have no facts to support your dislike? The truth is that most Americans have no problem paying taxes. I myself like driving on paved roads and supporting the under privileged. My problem is that if it’s true that it wasn’t originally ratified then there is no law. Let’s fix the system to make it legal. That’s all.

Which comments have “no facts to support my dislike”. First, I believe you were mistaking ridicule for dislike. And, as for facts to support my ridicule, I didn’t know (attempted) humor required ‘facts’, but how is this for facts to base ridicule of this proposal:
    A) Democrats control 59% of the seats in the House
    B) Democrats control 58% or 59% of the seats in the Senate
    C) Democrats tend to raise taxes
    D) Democrats tend to like more federal government
    E) This proposal would tend to go against C & D in the extreme
    F) This proposal requires 66.6% in BOTH houses, and it couldn’t even remotely come close to that in either.

No, I’m not threatened by Ron Paul. My comment was more aimed at the fact that I think this has exactly zero chance of making it through congress.

And no, I don’t dislike Ron Paul. In fact, while he’s not at the top of my list, I’d much prefer him the guy who does represent me in Congress.

The rest of my original comment still applies — Just substitute whichever representative(s) are behind this in the role of Don Quixote. (My second comment was just explaining my mistake in my first comment in thinking it was Ron Paul (hence Ron Quixote))

My apologies for misunderstanding. I would say that I would agree mostly but unfortunately we have seen the Bush administration impose more government into our lives then ever before. One of the reasons I have strayed from the republican party lately. I’m in agreement with you on Ron,I would love to see this guy represent me. He may have a republican label but is more in tune with what the people want, imo.

Wouldn’t it be nice if this was removed nearly 100 years after it was introduced? Well, we can dream can’t we? I mean aren’t there plenty of people that would really like to repeal the laws of physics when it comes to energy? But I digress . . .

Maybe we should look at the motive behind this bill? In its present state, it would never be passed, I’m sure. But, were it to be amended and propose instead abolishment of the ridiculous Internal Revenue Code, replacing it with a Fair Tax type of law, it would make sense to the majority, Republican, Democrat, Independent alike.

We should pay are direct tax and are indirect tax. but we should not pay income tax. there is no need for it. well that is if we still went off of the gold standard. we would not need income tax if the system was not changed in 1913. i know this bill has no chance what so ever but one can dream of being free at least. untill congress passes a law agenst that too.

Just starting to get into the “political arena” myself so do not have “facts” to present, just gut feelings as a 60 year old retired military woman. I would love to see a fair tax or flat tax implemented rather then the horrid system we currently have. I seriously doubt we will see that happen as it would be a case of killing the goose that lays the golden egg, so far as Congress is concerned. Would kill off a ton of lobbiest also chuckles
