What unamerican id*** thought this one up? You should be ashamed of yourself for even proposing such an idiotic waste of time and money! It shouldn't even be under debate. If anything we should shorten the period of time, not eliminate it.
The Representative should be removed for simply proposing this idea. Sure, it was a more recent amendment but we had less power-hungry officials and a more involved public in the past. Once they pass this bill it will be a straight highway to dictatorship if rigged electronic voting machines are allowed to stand.
This is a play to push us closer to complete tyranny. Throw in a dash of voter fraud and an army of ACORN zombies and we're done!
The Dems. don't know their own history. THEY were the ones that introduced the 22nd amendment after FDR died.
No President should serve more than 4 year and Obama should not be serving at all unless he produces a certificed copy of his birth certificate. As far as I am concerned he is not a legal president until he does so and have
violated our Constitution. Also, Congress has helped him violate our Constitution and they should be thrown in jail.

I served as an election judge just last week in local elections and I can tell you that a voter will know if their votes are being rigged. There is a hard copy made of every vote and the voter watches as this hard copy is printed. If there was rigging going on, the hard copy would be used as the frame of reference, not the electronic copy.
First off I think all elected officials should have term limits. No career politicians.

Well in your state the voter may get to see a hard copy of his or her vote. But where I live the electronic machine does not print out a hard copy, I never saw a hard copy, I only have to assume that my vote was recorded the way that I voted. I'm not saying that it was rigged, but without the hard copy how are voters suppose to know? All electronic machines should print a hard copy for the voter to see.
Closer to tyranny? Let's be rational, here... America was founded in order to get away from tyranny. The American public would cause an immense uproar if a "King" ever were to take power.
Though, it is true, the Democrats did introduce the 22nd Amendment. But, it was in order to create a stronger role for Congress, not to cause a turnover in the Presidency. Why would any loyal party-memeber want to force one of their executives out of office after four years? None.
The discrepancy over Obama's birth certificate is ridiculous. This would have come up in the Primaries as a huge selling point for Hillary; but, she stayed away from it because Obama does have a valid birth certificate. Why didn't it come out until after Obama won the primaries? Because it was Republican propaganda, a ploy to win the election. If it were a serious allegation, wouldn't the Republican party still be publicly pushing an investigation? The idea that Obama was not born in the United States is ridiculous.
There is a reason our fore-fathers wrote this into the Constitution; a check and balance so that no one would have a likelihood of gaining to much power over the people. The government works "for" the people; people do not work "for" government.
Err... the forefathers didn't write any term limits into the Constitution. In fact Alexander Hamilton in Federalist Paper No. 53 stated that term limits are a very poor idea. The forefathers of this country would have written term limits into the Constitution if they were deemed necessary. Fact is, no term limits were added and this country survived just fine without them for 150+ years.

You have got to be kidding! H***, we need to reduce/limit the number of terms the Senators and Representatives are in office so a man that is not rich may have a chance to make a change!
Presonally, I don't see a valid reason for this legislation. It doesn't serve the People, it would serve only the politicians. It addresses no specific problem or issue that needs to be resolved; it only opens the door to creating career politicians - and we have enough of those already.
Makes me think of how Hitler made his move to take over Germany, this is a terrible bill.
Absolutely NOT! If there are no term limits, then why bother to have elections? I want to have a say in who sits in the White House for four years and often four years is too much time for some Presidents!
There needs to be an amendment fixing the salary of congressmen to a multiply of the minimum wage. There should also be term limits on representatives of four terms and term limit of two terms on senators. They should not get lifetime benefits either, maybe for a six months to a year at most.

H.J.Res. 5 is a Constitutional amendment to remove the limit on the number of terms one may serve as President. It effectively would repeal the 22nd Amendment, which was approved by Congress in 1947 and ratified by the states in 1951. Several members of Congress have introduced similar legislation, including Sen. Harry Reid in 1989 ( S.J.Res. 36). As is likely the case in the 111th Congress, the resolutions have never proceeded out of committee.

i was thinking exactly the same. who is to say that dictatorship doesn't SOON follow after the repealing of this article. that is EXACTLY how Hitler got power as a dictator. now, i don't intend to compare anything of the United States to Hitler, but, if we do repeal this article....than we are much closer like Hitler in mindset than we want to believe.

The president gets only 2 terms and if it's good enough for him or her then it should be good enough for all those bozos that are called congressmen or women. How about national election for Supreme Court? Why should a president who is limited to two terms be allowed to appoint someone to an office for life? Term limits are the way to go, but Congress will never limit themselves to this. Two 6 year terms for senators and 4 two terms for representatives.
