I think this bill is a little too late! The US government already bailed out GM and set the price for dividends of stock holders. I hope Congress wakes up, stop worrying about there special interest and do there job of what the people want. I’m tried of being a tax slave.

This resolution is a great idea. Yes, there is the sticky problem of GM. But this will force those whose real agenda is for the government to control the economy to show their hands so that the American public can see them for what they are.

While this amendment will not undue the tax burden our current Congress has placed on every citizen, it will help to prevent more damage in the future. It is truly a shame that this, and several other proposed Constiutional Amendments will not come to fruition because most legislators balk at the idea of an Amendment nowadays. It is fine in their eyes however, to “reinterpret” what the Constitution means, thus amending it to fit their own purposes.

This is a stupid law that IS a waste of time. Capitalism is gasping it’s last breath and it’s about time the greedy gave way to the needy. You people are shameful – the damage was done long ago and to take advantage of the economic crises to write capitalism into our Constitution is dispicable. I’m saying VOTE NO ON THIS!!!!!

It’s about time the greedy give way to the needy?? Spoken like a true socialist. What is wrong with earning money?? Why should we have to give what we work hard to get only to have the government take it from us and give it to those who want what they didn’t earn?? I have no problem giving to those who are trying but have fallen on hard times but I certainly do not want to give to those who take and refuse to do their part to be a productive person.

Capitalism isn’t the problem. It’s the very reason this country has become the most prosperous country ever. You can’t blame the capitalism if you keep interfering with it. Our problems don’t stem from capitalism, they come mostly from government making laws to “work around” capitalism because they’ve run out of money to spend. Then, when a crisis hits, they claim they have to make more laws to work around capitalism because they’re out of money again.

Capitalism is the reason you have your lifestyle.

I don’t think it is to late unless everyone just wants to give up.The 2010 elections can put a stop to what damage there is and turn it around. We can’t win a war by giving up and fight for our God Given Right for a Free Country. Our media and Acorn has got us where we are now by electing a president that is not even American born against our constitution and also letting illegals vote in our federal elections.Acorn even had dead people voting in the elections. We need to safe guard our next elections from fraud so this don’t happen again. This country has stood the test of time and it can come back stonger than ever but not by giving up like some wants to or they just want to sit back and let someone else do it for them.It takes a MAJORITY to get things done so we can’t be lazy and depend on someone doing everything for you.

What a roundabout way to oppose the Obama Bailout. This would do nothing but create problems not only concerning current government takeovers, but also will complicate any government-owned corporations which include FDIC, Amtrak, Tennessee Valley Authority, most state lotteries, and countless other joint public-private ventures. These not only serve important niche roles in the American economy that can’t be filled by private businesses, but generate revenue for public works outside of taxation. What a stupid law.

It’s ridiculous that we would have to amend the Constitution to explicitly prohibit something that is implicitly prohibited already.

  • LucasFoxx 09/17/2009 10:46am

This is a waste of time. It would not protect capitalism, but would protect large corporations from the people in this country for whom the constitution was written to protect and promote the general welfare of. If they don’t want us to be part owners of their companies, then they should not be coming to us asking for handouts. We need to take our SCOTUS back and put our trust back in the hands of the people and out of the hands of the “too big to fail” corporate entities. Justice Roberts is wrong. Corporations don’t vote, they shouldn’t have the power to sway elections or blackmail our representatives.
