This bill will be certainly helping US immigration efficiency and current recessed business climite because most of reunioned family start to do small business and to buy house with their own money which come from their home land or thier saving account.

will let me buy a house, if my relatives can be brought over here…

It will lessen the serious retrogression in the employment based categories for green card processing (EB2, EB3) which in turn will be beneficial for the sponsoring companies (like the hi-tech industry) and the economy as a whole.

I appreciate and thank the senators for taking this initiative and recognizing the needs of immigrants as well as the country. I believe passage of this bill will be a tremendous boost to the economy in the most notable sectors of housing and auto industry as a huge number of employed immigrants will buy houses and new cars.

  • babuworld 06/04/2009 5:46am

This bill helps people who are long time for permanent residency. They are lot of people like me who are waiting to buy house once they get their permanent residency. It helps a lot to the economy. This DO NOT welcomes more immigrants but helping the legal immigration who are paying taxes.

Looks like they are loading the books, or in this case, the comment section. Must have Acorn people at work, to use the term loosely. Obama is still courting the Hispanic vote and kissing a— to get it. It doesn’t matter what it costs the American people. Too bad he doesn’t care about those who are here already, but of course, we’re not going to vote for him. He and his administration are going to destroy our Country, and they are doing it fast. They need a new crop of voters.

Immediate relatives/Dependents should not be count for a immigrant visa number.

  • sunil_143 06/05/2009 1:45pm

This bill will be help full because there are some 600,000 visas that have not been used in the past which is part of the reason that there is a log jam now for visas & years and years of wasted time waiting as an I-140 holder.
    Thanks

This bill will Only help the illegals get a faster stronghold on our economy. If these people want a better place to live they need to reform their own place of residence.

    Dear burke524,

Please read at least one of the 100 positive posts on this topic – you will know that we are not talking about “illegals” as you state. This bill is directed towards LEGAL immigrants – the kind you should welcome if you want to keep illegal immigration in check.

Of course, no immigration would be your preference, but that is not practical in today’s world. Need an example? – look at North Korea and Iran – that’s what happens when you cut yourself off from the world – now look at the progress in a little country called the U.S.A. – that’s what happens when you allow LEGAL immigration and open yourself for business, trade, scientific and social development.

    burke524,

Looks like you have not read the bill, please read it. This is aimed at “LEGAL” immigrants, who abide by the law, PAY thousands of $$$ in taxes and have been contributing to the US economy “LEGALLY” for years.

As a matter of fact some of these people have been here “LEGALLY” for more than decades. And hence have contributed a lot to the country not only by paying taxes but as consumers as well.

If this bill passes many will be provided relief and they will purchase homes since the only thing stopping them from doing so is that they do not have Residency. This will bring up the housing market as well.

Therefore I urge people to support this bill as it has a lot of benefits not only for people residing in this country “LEGALLY” and needing their Green Card but also for the economy over all.

  • neithal_vizhi 06/07/2009 5:53pm

This bill will give big relief for thousands of law abiding individuals to get their green card faster and help unite families and contribute more to develop the economy.

Description in part says, “Specifically, it would reclassify spouses and children of legal immigrants as immediate relatives”..

When were those ever NOT “immediate relatives”..??

  • Comm_reply
    m_atique2009 06/08/2009 7:06am

They are not considered immediate relatives in terms of immigration law, so that is why they are reclassifying

I am going to break my reply in three different messages due to limit on the size to 1000 characters.

    According to immigration Act:

    1. If you are a H1-B worker, you are a temporary worker in the US, since H1-B is considered a temporary work visa. So you can bring your spouses and children right away, there is no visa limitation or visa number availability requirement, (i.e.you don’t have to wait for a visa number to become available for your spouse or kid, by the state department), because they think that you are here temporary and you will return to your home country once either your visa is expired or your work is done with the company you are working for, which rarely happens by the way, and people tend to stay permanently.

  • m_atique2009 06/08/2009 8:22am

2.If you are a US.citizen, your spouse and kids are considred “Immediate Relative”, so there is no visa limitation or visa number availability requirement.

    3. But if you are a Green Card holder (Lawful Permanent Resident of the USA), then you have to wait for visa number availablity, since there is a cap for that because your spouse and kids are not considered your “Immediate Relative”. Even though the only one difference between a US Citizen and a Green card holder is the ability to vote.

  • m_atique2009 06/08/2009 8:22am

This is a pure discrimination against Green Card holders or Lawful Permanent Residents that they have to wait for no reason due to caps. AS people say that this law is archaic and needs to be changed to end the suffering of families.

I am really so depressed I can’t even work or think about anything else

You seem to be under the assumption this bill deals with illegal immigration. It does not. Just the uniting of families of US Citizens and legal residents. Please read the text of the bill. Strong families build a strong country. The powerful Roman empire collapsed due to family breakdown and our country is heading in the same direction.

This bill will help reunite my family and will help the United States Economy because instead of having to spend money in Peru where my husband lives and trying to pay for living expenses here and there. We will be able to spend all of our money in the United States. We will be happy, reunited and work harder for our future.

  • domirebec 06/22/2009 1:51pm
