I support this because my grandmother is going through this right now. She is trying to file bankruptcy for medical reasons, and she is going through so many hurdles to get it done. My grandmother is a breast cancer survivor, meaning she can not get health insurance now, she is a small business owner and is slowing losing that business and her home. She is five months behind on the lease on her office and three months behind on her home. My grandfather died from kidney failure and heart disease, so that adds to her debts as well. She has used credit cards, borrowed, etc. to pay her medical bills. She is afraid she will lose everything because of the all of the red tape she is going through just to continue to work. She is past retirement age, and she has limited family members to help her with anything because most of us are unemployed because of our irresponsible government. I want this to pass, and I want real financial and health care reform too.

Our son did expect to be hospitalized for 3 weeks due to infection from the original surgery. The hospital worked with us with over $120,000.00 debt of release. However, we (mom and dad) are still paying back the original surgery. At times it straps us.
We’ll make it but we know others that need this bill. Please get word out of it.
Thank you,
The hi-lite comment isnt working. How is this fair to the people owed money for services rendered. This is going increase vetting of consumers to avoid dumpng debt. While the medical aspect is covered, section 6 makes sure they lawyers “get theirs.” On the surface this is a loving bill with a loving idea, but no. Why is this bill needed anyway? The HC reform just passed so you wont go bankrupt. I dont think we need this added legislation if HC reform ensures you get all the care you need.
