That was me who posted about Spencir copying other posts (possibly his own) from there. Yeah, that is kinda like OpenCongress used to be since you don’t have to register to post.

Yes a few are being very stubborn ..lol
I don’t understand why more people don’t come to this bill! It is better than HR3404 and has a better chance of passing first.
S1647 goes before the Senate Finance Committee on 9/15. The 2 member statements are coming from Montana and Iowa. Montana is at 6.5% average and Iowa is at 6.1%. It will be interesting to see what they say.
When will this get voted on??
I been here a few times posting..I don’t understand why two bills (house and senate) almost the same s1647 and hr3404.. Yes its a fact if the senate passes a bill they made it will pass the house easy then. I just hope they keep their word as they said… early September we will get these bills rolling…Hello its early September and not even out of the committee reviews yet just sitting there still.
I know this don’t mean nothing…but big brother is always watching..I google S1647 and HR 3404 ten times a day when I’m online. Figure if a few thousand of us did this..it would be a high search item for (big brother) to think about!
I’m here!! I’ll try to post over here as well as HR 3404:)
Yay! This bill will help me but 3404 won’t. Thanks for your support!
NancyM posted this under HR 3404. McDermott’s new bill mirrors this one.
“In response to direct calls for help by Americans from across the country, Rep. Jim McDermott (D-WA) introduced new streamlined legislation today, HR 3548, to extend unemployment insurance benefits for an additional 13 weeks in states where unemployment has averaged at least 8.5% over the last three months.”

Pelosi promises action on unemployment extension
Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, said on Thursday that Congress will get to work on passing an extension of unemployment benefits now that the August recess is over and lawmakers have returned to the nation’s capitol. The Detroit News reports:House Speaker Nancy Pelosi today called an extension of jobless benefits “essential,” signaling the House of Representatives will act quickly to keep as many as 100,000 Michiganians from losing their benefits by the end of the year.“The unemployment insurance is essential. We cannot let that run out,” Pelosi said in her weekly news conference.“And that is on our agenda to be dealt with.”The Obama administration has also said they want to pass an unemployment extension and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has also indicated that his chamber would take up the issue soon.

Rep. McDermott Introduces Streamlined Bill, as Speaker Nancy Pelosi Calls for Swift Action on the Extension. (September 11, 2009)
There were several major developments in the extension campaign yesterday. At a news conference, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi came out strongly in favor of swift action on the extension. MORE
Well I know those who are officals in my state of NJ are trying..they all wrote to congress and the president… senators, Reps, even the governor and me.
I receive this also for news on NJ only: A new program has been announced to help those who exhausted all types of UI benefits. They send you a form that proves if someone hire’s you the employer will be reimbursed for up to $5 per hour total $2400..It has to be employment at least $15 per hour plus a guarantee of 6 months of employment for the employer to get the $2400.
Something new..can’t hurt… every little helps.
What time is the bill supposed to be on c-span2 and further more…how do you know when they will vote on this bill or the other one 3404
Anyone have any info on the meeting today? I don’t find any mention of either HR3404, 3548 or S1647 on the clerks office schedule at http://clerk.house.gov/floorsummary/floor.html
I did read a good article I saw posted on another board with the link that sounds promising:
Tuesday, September 15, 2009 .Senator promises quick action on extending unemployment benefits
Deb Price / Detroit News Washington Bureau
Washington —
Baucus made these comments at the end of a hearing by his committee to look at options to deal with 1.4 million unemployed workers — including 100,000 Michiganians — facing their last unemployment check at the end of the year.
The chairman of a key Senate committee said today Congress will act quickly on legislation extending unemployment benefits to the nation’s jobless.

It looks like it’ll be the end of the month before this bill gets voted on. Hopefully it won’t take that long…
The numbers for new york came out on a 3 month avg we are now at 8.76 from 8.5. The unemployed desperatly need this extension fast! There are no jobs, none! For every job available 6 people are fighting for the same job. I heard congress is off again for the month of October so they better get moving on passing another extension. Some say the economy is starting to get better, but i dont see it with the unemployment continually rising. Winter is coming and with our other bills we will now have a heat bill to contend with. Please get this bill fast tracked!
http://www.cqpolitics.com/wmspage.cfm?parm1=5&docID=cqmidday-000003204963……If you go to this site it says the congress will be bringing up this bill next week for the states hit hardest, i think its any state over 8.5 percent of a 3 month average.
is it a safe bet now to start checking out this bill/thread now since it appears that hr 3548 is now being switched over and updated now back to this bill according to today’s recent news ?

Uhm, ok, still learning this process…. H.R.3548 was passed by House on 9/22. S.1647 is the Senate’s version? There is no joint resolution? It (S.1647) is in the senate finance committee? Then both bills have to pass (with the Pres. sign-off) for it to become law and the funds released. Both bills? Even then each state has to decide if they are then going to accept the funds? (My governor threatened to boycott the last unemplyment increase – he and every member of his family) has a job and copious financial resources, the a**)
If the S.1647 stalls in committee, then it doesn’t matter that H.R.3548 passed? I poor head is desperately trying to come up with a possible timeline. (Yes, everyone in family unemployed at the moment and we are scared to death.) Can someone put this process into a simple approximated timeline?
Thanks to all and I wish each and everyone better circumstance than ours…
