The repubs don’t have the balls to talk about the subject. To me it is treason on the American Citizens. They are refusing to do their jobs..

Not all republican senators were bad this year..I know one who was good.

Senator Arlen Specter..he switched parties from republican to democratic in April 2009.

Nowhere in sight. It’s a disgrace. I have called and asked that they speak out. Feinstein’s office told me she had signed the ‘Brown’ letter. That’s it! Left message for Boxer — no response. Where ARE they?

  • abbondanza 10/27/2009 12:43pm

the speeches do not mean jack, they keep saying the same thing over and over…it’s all about the vote

  • abbondanza 10/27/2009 12:49pm

the Republicans are blocking this to set the precedent for their Healthcare objection. If Healthcare wasn’t such a hot topic, this would’ve passed a month ago

The Republicans are not going to speak, they know it is political suicide to talk against the extension.

They will just hope that we don’t get the 60

so what exactly are they voting on? Is this the actual senate vote or just a vote to determine whether to or not to proceed with a final senate vote?

this is the vote on the procedural motion whether to invoke cloture.
If they get the vote, they motion to invoke cloture. After 30 hours, they can vote on the bill and each amendment.

  • jelee 10/27/2009 12:56pm

I can’t believe the Republicans, have nothing to offer in response of why they have Stalled this Bill ? what about the excuse of how much it would cost?
or taking it from stimulus Money ? I think they owe the American people some kind of explaination, they have had them for the last four weeks, where is their retro now ?

  • Anonymous 10/27/2009 12:57pm

Not a single peep from the Republicans supporting this bill. So telling. Unreal.

  • abbondanza 10/27/2009 12:58pm

If the vote passes tonight, I believe that they can limit further ‘debate’ for a maximum of 30 more hours before the Bill can be brought to the floor for a vote.

I assume that’s why the Democrats went this route, in order to force the vote in a few days.
