Agreed. I think this will happen.
nancym I’m sure you went thru 6867 the last time. You have to say this is going a little faster than that did??
To be sure! But as for my going through all this on OC earlier, there are many who were on this board way before I was. I started around the beginning of ’09. Around that time the board was unmoderated and nothing I wanted to waste too much of my time with.
They were in recess last year to campaign for re-election ..and didn’t return until Nov 8 ..and HR 6867 passed Nov 22..So yeah ..it is taking longer this time
6867 was actually introduced 9/10 and didn’t get signed by the President until 11/21. So far this is going faster but I am still having flashbacks or Deja Vu or whatever you want to call it.
THEN WHATS THE HOLD UP!!!!!!!!
RE: Try the Salvation Army in your area
I did that already for my Oct. rent
Responce from Salvation Army..No funds , Community Action.. Out of Funds.. try again next week ..
Well try again next week. Something will pass. They can’t ignore thousands of people.
Even though the latest extension proposal is popular among Democrats and unlikely to face much Republican opposition, it’s still unclear when the Senate might take up a companion bill. One problem is that the legislation (S. 1647) would have to move through the Senate Finance Committee, which is currently preoccupied with health care reform negotiations. There’s also serious talk about tweaking the bill to provide assistance to workers in states where unemployment isn’t as widespread, a shift that will require even more debate.

I think this person might have meant 1699 but who knows?
I think they were just out of date! S.1647, remember, is the companion bill to HR 3404, the bill that would extend all these programs. Progress Illinois doesn’t seem to be aware that S. 1699 already exists.

………and what will the debate be most strongly geared toward?…..$$Money$$ Money to fund 50 instead of 27 states. Increasing from 27 to 50 made this tamale allot more expensive than $1.4 billion.
To All: I am attaching websites to each idea.
1. Call, email, fax, twitter, mail all Senators and the President.
a. http://www.nelp.org/page/speakout/FedBensNow
2. Write letters to local newspaper regarding the need for unemployment support.
3. Possible ideas if Senators and the President refuses to listen to us such as one term limit, etc.
Any other ideas? Lets keep the ideas coming.
Ohioeb change the tent picture. You are just putting negative thoughts in your head. Unless you are really living in one. Then I appologize!!
RE: Unless you are really living in one
Not yet..But soon will be if they don’t pass HR 3548 … What am I to tell my landlord Oct 1 ..
UM, I don’t know when you will get the rent ..The Senate hasn’t brought it to a vote yet ..Oh, Then there’s ODJFS ..don’t know how long that will take them to set it up" ..GEEZ
You just stated the Salvation army got your Oct rent??
No, I posted was : I did that already for my Oct. rent (Meaning I already called them )
Responce from Salvation Army..No funds
RE: change the tent picture
Thats a reality that will happen..
OMG, I am sorry. but I got to say at first glaze it does kinda look like a
advertisement for coleman, just my opinon :]
JM, what I was pointing out was that this bill is a COPY of HR 3548, not a “new” bill—that is the process for when a bill goes from the House to the Senate. This bill was taken right over to the Senate less than 24 hours after its passage in the House. So any accusations on this board about this bill being some kind of “delaying tactic” don’t hold water.
read that ohio its the same bill not a new one holding up the 3548
Really..Because I didn’t see this in HR 3548 : Looks to me like it’s to extended the year that people can collect benefits:
Unemployment Compensation Extension Act of 2009 (Introduced in Senate)S 1699
(1) by striking `through 2009’ in paragraph (1) and inserting `through 2010’, and
(2) by striking `calendar year 2010’ in paragraph (2) and inserting `calendar year 2011’.
(b) Effective Date- The amendments made by this section shall apply to wages paid after December 31, 2009
I thought to Stream-line HR 3548 ..was to leave out " extended the year "so it didn’t get held up and to provided a QUICK PASSAGE..
This is like beating a dead horse LOL!
Those strikes are referring to the surtax on BOTH bills – they are virtually identical. This has been posted numerous times!
OK, I stand corrected
That relates to the employer tax only. Notice it is under the section that says
SEC. 3. 0.2 PERCENT FUTA SURTAX.
(a) In General- Section 3301 of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 (relating to rate of tax) is amended-
That is why they expect it to pass quicker. They extended the extra taxes for a year so the bill would virtually pay for itself.
