In Afghanistan, the number one most dangerous mission is convoys. Most convoys are transporting fuel. The number one piece of equipment that uses the most fuel is generators. Simply switching to solar powered generators would cut down on the number of convoys and save American lives. The Commandant of the Marine Corps has ordered an energy audit for Afghanistan.

In Somalia and along the Niger Delta there have been tons of piracy issues revolving around the fuel storage bays. The CIA has stated that if we can run our energy on solar, wind, and natural gas, that area will be able to stabilize and return to normal security.

The Navy recently released its first ever “green powered” aircraft carrier.

DARPA has been working on solar powered tents for the US Army.

I was in DC when the Kerry-Boxer bill (this bill) was introduced. Major General Eaton, General Zinni, Vice Admiral McGinn, former Senator John Warner all spoke in favor of it.

History books can’t tell us much, there’s much more research to be done. Climate change has to be studied for at least 30 years to able to determine a trend. Individuals are in denial if they say “global warming” doesn’t exist, it’s a natural process being accelerated by human activity – but we have yet to know how much our activity is contributing to the warming trends they have found in the last 50 years. We can’t rely on one guy at MIT not to do something about our pollution and destroying the Earth that was here before us. Ever looked into the damage we have done to our oceans? Keep driving those gas guzzlers that not only pollute, but encourage our consumption of foreign oil and those big bad corporations have corporate responsibility programs for a reason now – because they started getting slack for their sustainability. Want to know who’s doing good? Go see who have transparency reports for the public, other than that they just will lobby a politician to get what they want.

AlleeA – So we have one scientist contradicting the views of the other 99% of scientists out there? Regardless, the DOD, the Marine Corps, even the CIA have been working on the threat that climate change poses to our national security. CNAS even has a Natural Security blog. Most of the people pushing this bill are retired Admirals and Generals. I know – I’ve met several of them. And regardless of the cause (man-made, natural cycle or Obama did it) they are all working together to try to fix the problems.

There’s a lot more that goes into the environment than the world getting a little hotter. Global warming is natural process and accelerated by our activities. We could really benefit from alternative sources for a cleaner earth. Don’t feel so entitled to destroy something just because you can. We all could use a little assistance to have affordable, clean resources to be a better global citizen. We can’t rely on the general public to make the ethical decision because they remain ignorant and lazy, plus we are just putting children futures at stake.

Senator John Warner gave an incredible, moving speech at an Operation Free event regarding this legislation. I hope it takes off quickly!

It is not a scam. Ever heard of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change? Dont deny the overwhelming scientific proof.

Former Senator John Warner (R-VA) has spoken passionately in favor of this bill. The Truman National Security Project and the Center for a New American Security have also been promoting it. Operation FREE held an event in DC where 150 Iraq and Afghanistan veterans met to push this very legislation. I was there. Vice Admiral Dennis McGinn, Major General Eaton, and General Anthony Zinni all spoke in favor of this bill. Jon Powers, who served as a captain in the 1st Armored Division in Iraq, also delved into the specifics and why it is needed. But Senator Warner’s speech was by far the best.

Actually, if you want to talk about scientific proof than I have to ask if you’ve ever heard of Richard Lindzen? He has just recently finished a 15 year long study out of MIT that scientifically proves that all the supposed “scientific” claims made by the IPCC are actually completely false, and in fact are the exact opposite of the truth. Long wave radiation leaving the Earth’s atmosphere does NOT in fact decrease with the rising surface temperatures we are experiencing. In fact, to the total destruction of all IPCC theories, as temperature increases, so does long wave radiation being bounced back into outer space. And, in case you forgot, that theory was the very crux of the entire “global warming” sham.

In early 2008, Obama said “my energy prolicy will necessarily cause electric bills to skyrocket.”. Google this quotation for video of him saying it.

Where in this statement can anyone with more than 2 brain cells firing think that energy will become “more affordable”?

This bill is another bill that is cap and trade, which redistributes our tax money to others who may not contribute to society. I will not be taxed for air or energy.

Another massive bill. About 800 pages now… I’m certain it drones on about a lot more than clean energy in there. You could even hide a bomb in that stack of papers.

I’m all for clean energy, being independent of fossil fuels (they ARE finite in supply), and jobs. Just not from the government. Government workers are paid at taxpayer expense. They should be working honestly in the private sector, being paid voluntarily by their employers, not funded by government extortion.

As for the transition to clean energy, government intervention can only screw it up. There are various companies making solar panels out there. Private citizens often voluntarily install solar panels to save on energy. Why does the government have to butt in? There is already a private transition to alternative energy taking place. When oil supply falls short and prices rise, if that transition isn’t already fast, you can bet your ass it will be.

The United States, under President Obama, is allowing U.S. Energy Secretary Steven Chu to make agreements with foreign countries (already alleged to have signed an agreement with Italy), to bring in radioactive waste into the United States for processing and storage.
The United States is now in the process of importing low-level radioactive waste from foreign countries. Energy Secretary Chu has signed an agreement in 2009, with Italy, to take their radioactive waste.

Global warming is not the only topic covered in this bill. This bill is a first step leading the United States, and hopefully the world, to sustainable and independent energy sources. Oil, coal, natural gas, and nuclear power make up the vast majority of worldwide energy sources. All of these sources of energy are nonrenewable, and are disrupting and depleting natural resources and services. They all will be gone within 150 years. Soon, we must find energy that is clean, produces little waste, and is renewable. There simply is no other option.

This bill begins the transition to the renewable energy we need. Also, switching to these renewable energy resources would almost completely erase greenhouse gas emissions. In other words, if global warming exists it will be stopped by this new energy. If global warming is false, we acquire a renewable, cheap, independent, and efficient energy system.

If Al Gore really believed in Global Warming, he would be living in a tiny mud house with a grass roof powered by wind/solar energy (or with Ed Begley Jr. because I don’t think Al Gore would ever ride a bicycle to power his own toaster). Instead, he just purchased a SECOND energy-eating mansion (6,500 square feet with a price tag of $8,875,000) overlooking the Pacific in Montecito, CA just up the coast from Santa Barbara. Did he forget that the melting polar ice caps are soon going to swallow up the coastlines? The new Gore mansion comes with a swimming pool, spa, fountains, six fireplaces, five bedrooms and nine bathrooms.

Let’s not forget his other home in Tennessee that “burns energy at 12 times the rate of the ordinary U.S. household, and uses more electricity in one month than most American homes use in a year”.

The purpose of the bill is to drive energy prices high enough to reduce consumption. In effect, consumers would be forced to pay more for less energy. Higher energy costs would spread throughout the economy as producers everywhere try to cover their higher production costs by raising their product prices…, further impacting consumers.APA attempts to shield the economic pain from consumers by passing two-thirds of the carbon permit revenue back to the consumer through energy discounts or direct rebates. This leaves 33 percent of the revenue to go elsewhere. Regardless, these rebates would clearly not compensate for the higher energy prices that impact all the goods and services consumers purchase.

Furthermore, there is the second IPCC/Gore-theory destroying discovery that the Earth’s “climate sensitivity” rating is in fact a whopping SIX times less that that of the “best estimates” put forth by the IPCC “group think” climate models. In case you’ve not heard of the “climate sensitivity” rating before, it is essentially the degree to which the Earth’s temperature responds to various forces of change, such as rising carbon levels. And the brilliant, non-agenda pushing, completely nonpartisan, IPCC puts it at an astounding, and dangerous, 3 degrees Centigrade. While that crazy, right-wing, hack job (which he must be if he doesn’t believe in global warming!) over at MIT puts it at a pathetic, unimportant 0.5 degrees Centigrade.

Although environmentally friendly business practices should be encouraged, cap and trade is the wrong way to do so.

Today (Nov 5th) S.1733 passed through committee with a 10-1 vote. It now moves to the Senate floor!

There are a lot of reasons to be environmentally friendly. Stopping our dependance on oil is one. We also all know that Global warming is an alarmist scam to grab power. This bill is how the oil companies (That’s right the oil companies) grab power. If you are a real environmentalist you will block this bill. And while your at it get ride of your Prius. Its oversized batteries are killing its fuel mileage and contaminating my water. Geo Metro’s have been getting better mileage since the early 90’s.
