PP receives too much taxpayer money as it is. We do not need to be sending more money their way. Especially during a recession this simply doesn’t make sense.

A recession is a most important time to put funds toward prevention of unintended pregnancy. Think of the medical costs in prenatal care, delivery, pediatric care (usually paid by medicaid). Then think about mental healthcare costs. Child abuse dramatically increases in homes with unplanned pregnancies – I believe the most recent national studies of child abuse estimate $99,000.00 cost for each abused child. Additionally, a pregnant woman is substantially more likely to be beat by her partner when she is pregnant than when she is not – and the risk of this is even greater when the pregnancy is unintended.

Please educate yourself and think before you speak – and especially before you vote.

Planned parenthood helps women by fully informing them of all their choices. I have no idea what you mean by “poisoning” their bodies, JimEarl. I am an advanced health care practitioner and am scratching my head at the ugly, thoughtless, misinformation in this blog. What kind of pregnancy centers really help women? What’s the difference beteen those and planned parenthood? PP should have their funding tripled.

Nobody likes abortion. When you anti-choice voters start voting yes on feeding the hungry children in this country who have already been born, and when you start voting yes on stronger child protection laws, your irrational accusations may become valid. The last national study, 1996, estimated nearly 3 million abused children in the U.S. More than 50% of which are sexually abused children, greatest risk beginning at age 3. Then you expect these little girls to grow up with clear understanding of sexuality. Look up Bessel van der Kolk (google makes it easy), and read about traumatic effects of child sexual abuse, show at least a bit of compassion. And start helping us reduce abortions in a rational way – through education that includes abstinence AND contraception.

I can’t believe that our country is in an economic state of emergency … and Obama and his ‘cabinet’ think the only time efficient thing to do is to continue taking money from the tax payers and give it to planned parenthood …the wording on this bill sounds great … if I were a naive woman I’d think this is great … but it’s not … it’s taking away her right to have money if she wants her kids to learn about abstinence … it’s money away from hospitals where women feel safe … if Hillary and Obama and planned parenthood were really pro-choice .. they’d let people have the choice of going to a hospital that chooses life … without government funding the hospitals are only going to get worse … is this what Obama meant by Universal Health Care! What a crock … I can’t believe this maniac is president …

Looks like another bill to put money in the coffers of Planned Parenthood and take money away from the pregnancy centers that really do help women. the birth control that Planned Parenthood calls womens reproductive health just poisons womens bodies. American tax payers shouldn’t be asked to pay for their poison. All of the PP Womens Health Centers should be closed, not have their funding increased by the government.

This is another attempt by Mr. Reid and members of his Party to push the United States down the raod to Socialism. The best way to prevent “unintended pregnacy” is for people to take responsibility for their own actions.

“Poor people shouldn’t have kids?” That’s a really ignorant comment. Think about it…. people are born into a cycle. Their parents are low income which correlates with lower education levels, so their children are also low socioeconomic income. Without a good education or close examples to model after, these teens become stuck in the cycle. We need to increase sex education so these kids can have the appropriate knowledge to make an educated decision. And hopefully, by making an educated decision, they will practice safer sex and be less likely to have children without the means to do so, which will SAVE taxpayers money in the long run.

People have the right to make private decsions.

Abortion should be cheap, legal and rare. Legal to prevent back alley jobs. It remains a personal choice. I just don’t want to pay for it. Contreception is cheaper.

I do beleive in education on the risks of life. Stds, the cost, work, and time to raise a child. Educating what is abuse and neglect. I beleive in father’s rights. Education on what is ideal and not ideal cicumstances for raising a child. I also am a heavy advocate on all aspects of birth control,and this should include males and females. Also the legal mess and cost when things go bad invovling kids between disputing people. But this education and be provided by public schools, charities, and parents.

Common sense, there seems to be such a lack of it.

This bill is a sweetly worded load of bull. In no way would it decrease the number of abortions, otherwise why would PP want it to pass? Where do they get most of their money? They’re not stupid when it comes to getting others’ money and neither is Obama, but they sure think we are the way they constantly outright lie to us.

Poor people shouldn’t have kids because they can’t take care of them and neither can we; so if they won’t justify their kids by their income who should take care of them as they reproduce with no money?
