We need to really look at the 5% of the population who have almost 50% of all the money and ask ourselves if this disparity should really exist and if it threatens our freedom to govern fairly. A blind man could see that from the president on down all of the politicians are on the payroll of this 5%. Think about it. How many times have we all said no and the congress goes ahead and does it anyway. Displaced people have been persecuted to carry the economic burdens of this catastrophe and forced to stare at life with no income or hope, while Wall Street is laughing all the way to the bank. It’s never about the populace, rather political self preservation at the expense of the people! Somehow, we have to get rid of all the ramped corruption. Forget politics, it’s cognitively dishonest thieves on all fronts, at any cost who bailout self serving wealthy people and corporations while they could care less about the middle class who need unemployment benefits to survive.
Hello, This seems to be the Senate companion bill to the House bill HR 4183.
Got it! Don’t forget to hit the support button! :)
For a simpler approach to that filibuster issue, check out Rep. Alan Grayson’s web petition to get rid of it.

Grayson is my favorite radically progressive Congressman from Florida’s 8th district in the Orlando area. He’s a brilliant Harvard law grad with a take-no-prisoners attitude, a hero to the left and a nightmare to the right, or perhaps the anti-Christ to the right, not sure which.
Anyway, if he keeps his new House seat next year it will definitely be a sign of which direction Florida may be moving politically.
Nancy, in case it gets lost in the shuffle, I replied to your posts in the S.1699 comments. Thank you.
I replied again on S.1699. :)
A couple things should be noted. 1) The republicans do not oppose everything, they BOTH oppose each other. Just depends on the mix of who controls what, and who is in the white house. It has always worked that way, and will likely always will. 2) The rules regarding filibuster are good rules, and it should not be changed. I am waiting for the renewal of the program too. I run out the 3rd week of January, but I’m not in agreement to changing the fundamental way our government works so that it is easier for me. There is a system in place now, 60 votes. If you have that much support then it gets to a vote without a filibuster. As for using the tarp money… Obama ran on how evil the iraq surge was, then did his own surge. Its politics, they will always seem to be working against each other.
Not sure if this was posted; NELP: Congress is on Track to Extend EUC Program, Call Your Congress member now! (December 14, 2009)

Does anybody know what we do now? Wait and see what happens with HR 3326 and the plan to attach the extension of these programs onto the Department of Defense bill to extend the Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC) program, full funding of the Extended Benefits (EB) program and the extra $25 per week in benefits? Not much action on S.2831 – Helping Unemployed Workers Act or H.R.4183 – Helping Unemployed Workers Act? Thanks for your thoughts.
Hey everyone! Hopefully we can all help each other here, too…
whats probably going to happen is, some tarp will be used for the extension and the remaining tarp will go back to paying down the deficit
LOL!
Please Pass this!!! Hit the support button, write your sentators, and Share on FACEBOOK, Twitter, etc.
I really think “all” in congress are idiots.
The democrats should realize by now the republicans will refuse whatever they decide.
So if the democrats wanted to use the tarp funds..they should of just faked it and say increase employer UI taxes just a tiny bit more..the republicans whould say no way..do what we want use the Tarp funds..SO SIMPLE EVEN A CAVE CONGRESS CAN DO IT!
I support, and I am tracking it. :-)
CONGRESS stop fighting and do us a favor pass s.2831 and give me a job so i can keep feeding my family.it is so simple,we don’t ask for much.treat us like we are human and not just a vote
HIS A NUT CASE,HE NEEDS TO BE REMOVED
your 100 percent right
WRONG,WRONG,WRONG BOTH PARTIES NEED TO BE SHARING THE LOAD AS WELL THE COUNTRIES FUTURE
THE CONGRESS AND THE SENATE NEED TO VOTE ON BILLS BY THEIR ON HEARTS NOT AS REP. OR DEM.THINGS WOULD BE ALOT BETTER FOR ALL
Good luck with that one, you know how dependable senate and congress is! i will be shocked if it passes before its deadline.
Good grief! Yet another bill to follow! It’s like the virtual breadcrumb trail! Well, for the sake of all of us, I hope one of these pass before the new year.
You are right. How come politicians can be so deceiving to us the public but even when it helps “their” cause, they can’t deceive each other? Some kind of weird “buddy code” or something I guess.
Well, this is pretty weird. Remember when the Senate was arguing about HR 3548, one of the sticking points was that the Republicans wanted the option of using the TARP funds at one point to pay for the extension? As you recall that amendment failed.
So now some Dems want to use repaid TARP money to fund the new bigger package for unemployment and jobs creation, and this article says the Republicans are totally opposed to it! (What?!?!)
Which I guess goes to show that it’s all about opposing the other side, no matter what is proposed for anything.

OMG—For those who spent day after day trying to untangle the arcane rules of the Senate in this fall’s circus of procedures to get HR 3548 passed, here’s a new wrinkle. Senators have actually been talking about this for a while this year, but maybe more seriously after that fiasco.
This article goes into excruciating detail about possible ways to get rid of the filibuster, a historic move, but one that might be necessary in order to actually get anything done to get this country out of its current mess.
It will be interesting to see what, if any, moves Harry Reid takes in this direction at the start of the new session in January.

GEEEEEZ—-I just got word and the state just changed their website stating that my benefits will be cut off because I have one more payment left after the end of December!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a great Christmas this will be?? And save money now? I don’t have time!! There was no notice of this, everything changed on the state website and they even took off the old URL so you can’t see what it was 2 weeks ago!! This is soooo stupid, why don’t they pass this now? I have a right to extended unemployment benefits as well as the people who have already exhausted theirs!! Vote for this and write to your congress NOW!!! I will be out on the streets! My checks aren’t big enough for a “reserve” of extra cash!!!
