“Those who ignore history are condemmed to repeat it”
America’s backbone is broken
America’s heart is in despair
There needs to be protests, there needs to be riots, there needs to be blood shed & this spineless Congress needs to be stood up against a wall & shot. Not just ‘pubs either, Reid & Pelosi too, or these bastards will let us all just die.
We paid our dues by working our asses off & having taxes taken out of our paychecks for decades. By what right do these assholes, most of whom have never done an honest days work in their lives, get to stop us from getting what we’ve paid into for decades?
JoHamm Now your talkin! Those rat bastards shoved healthcare up our arses when NOBODY wanted that! They been playin politics with UI bills when they could pass them! Screw them ALL! Let them know we arnt the Fools they think we are!!
I believe it’s safe to say that not a damn thing will change in November, the ’pubs will take over & we all will be living in tents & be lucky to have a can of beans to eat.
Maybe those concentration camps that George W. “the Deserter” Bush had built by KBR will finally get some use.
Come on…is it really so hard to try and be positive? Post your story and what your plans are for promoting the bills.
As to November, each vote counts…if you don’t want to the Republicans in there then go vote.
Let’s try and be encouraging to each other. Do we really want to see this site turn toxic as S.1966 did? Or do we want to do what we can to support each other and be a united, but positive, voice?
100 protesters in all of NYC? Yet 30,000 turn out in Atlanta for “applications” for public housing? That’s some real support now isn’t it. Yeah, its hard to be positive when a mere 100 protesters turn out. You have no idea what kind of message that sends. That message is exactly how we are being portrayed…as being lazy
Let me tell you something being on unemployment for 99 weeks means fixed minimal income . Most 99ers can’t even afford food let alone traveling to one of the most expensive cities to visit in this country.
Not a peep on the rally from the Big 5 (CNN, MSNBC, FOX, ABC, CBS).
Also nothing on Huffington or Change.org
there won’t be either….100 people showed up
status of petition on change.org….since August 4th…583 signatures
PATHETIC
NO ONE CARES, get your affairs in order & prepare to die.
I was just looking for information on that myself. I’m finding the same thing you are…silence. I thought it was supposed to be covered by MSNBC?
This is why we “ALL” will just die…..
In a ridiculous attempt to silence the 99er movement, the PA permit to speak on loud speakers was mysteriously revoked, at the last minute. Rally organizer Kian Frederick said “My personal opinion is that we have grown to where we may actually make an impact, especially with Ed coming, and now we are facing opposition from either the higher ups in the NYPD or the Mayor.”
Another disappointing fact from the rally was the turn out. Only about 100 people bothered to show up at Federal Hall, in the heart of Wall Street. What is up with that? Ed Schultz again was the biggest bright spot in today’s event and will have coverage of the rally on his MSNBC TV show tonight, 6PM EST.

If the 99er movement cannot gather even 500 protesters for their first major rally, it does not bode well for being taken seriously as a political force come November. True the 99er Nation is battle weary from months without any income, since most lost benefits in March this year. Still, if we do not get our act together, the movement will stall before it ever really gets off the ground.

The day of the 99er Rally in NYC Harry Reid calls the Senate back – but not for the 99ers
Today the Senate came back from their summer recess. Apparently Harry thought the 99ers would be too busy to bother him, due to the NYC rally.
The Senate convened, briefly to approve a popular $600 million border security bill in a do-over vote that was required because of a procedural mishap in passing the measure the first time.
The Senate also voted on a resolution honoring Ted Stevens, renowned for directing hundreds of millions of dollars in worthless projects to his home state of Alaska until he was convicted of corruption and thrown out of office. Stevens was killed in a plane crash earlier this week.

I did, as soon as it was posted
Good job!
These Petitions are nothing but a exercise in futility and a quick buck. Tier V petition over 40.000 signatures and nothing for the 99ers. We fought with calls, emails and faxes and Rallies like the one in NYC. We need to be trying to get financial backing to stage a massive rally in D.C. and not another petition. S 3706 is a live bill, it will have amendments to it and there will be another fight just as with HR 3548 and no petition is going to change that! Most of us are ALL petitioned out.
I am really flabbergasted at the seriously low numbers we are getting, We know there are over 1 million 99ers out there, Maybe it is lack of funds for the internet, Cable tv ect, And they probably feel defeated. Its 7mo’s without a check for me I have begged borrowed and sold everything I can, Except my Gun =) So I wont be laying down and Dying anytime soon, Stay the course everyday thousands more are added to our ranks and we gain power, Expect this to last till the Nov, elections and if the Democrats win we will receive just what they have been giving us, Shit! They have always been able to pass these Bills but are pretending the repub’s are holding it up, So you might forget how they Shoved Obamacare up our asses! And if the Repub’s win you will just get Zip! Don’t let them Fool you!! Vote out the Friggin INCUMBENTS!!!
To That – if all of the Democrats are bums, why are all of these comments being posted for a bill sponsored by a Michigan Democrat & co-sponsored by another Michigan Democrat? I couldn’t be prouder of my two Senators!
To sclark- I cant Itemize All the senators here, If yours is doing a good job vote for them! But if you vote party line you are the party tool! Goes for both partys! Kyl has said over and over that if the bills were funded he would support them. IDK if he really would because the dems, wont put a funded bill forward. And the repub’s barely say anything! its all a pile of Crap! They think we are morons and they can play the game on us! If you have a good sitting senator then by all means vote for them!
Where was the “Deb” & the “Levin” between March 29th & now & why didn’t she do anything between those dates? As a matter of fact, there’s more than 1 published article that she states that there would be no tier5 period.
I do believe you nailed it…most have lost their internet service for lack of funds. A great many may not know to look. I have talked to many who are not aware of Open Congress and some found what happend ON S.1699 offensive and do not want to be a part of a group like that.
My last check was February and I have also begged, borrowed and sold…but I refuse to let it get me down.
I personally feel that something will shake loose on these bills just before the elections – one way or another. I am not being discouraging just practical. Most will want to use it as a way to get votes. Far be it for me to argue as long as all 99er’s can get 20 weeks…there are tradeoffs, unfortuantely.
If you are a Republican, use it as leverage for your vote…this is not prostitution but leverage. Enough votes from 99er’s and one could lose their race.
I told you all on 3548 what Congresses game plan is. This is by design & a repeat of last year. If they do this too early, citizens will be freezing to death come winter. If they do it too soon, they will have to give another extension by January.
What’s sad is I think the same thing, only this time I don’t know if they will actually do anything at all. That is what scares me.

Look at the shape our country is in and they take a break. They should be putting their heads together to figure out what to do and get this country headed in the right direction. Not just bandaid fixes. If companies want to move their factories to other countries they should move there themselves too. Stop immigration and close the borders until they can make this country a land of opportunity again for its own people first.
I agree, Nana!
To add:
Yes, the 99ers are the least fortunate in this recession who have been hit the hardest and the longest. They have lost their homes, cars, and have no food or shelter. Many do not care because it did not happen to them, yet.
Please note that food banks are running out of food and the most that you get is a bag or two of white rice and some sodium filled canned goods that are usually outdated and dented. The portion is usually half a bag per family and the wait is from 5-8 hours in extreme heat, cold or rain it doesn’t matter. The people in these lines are becoming hostile and confrontational. The shelters are over crowded from before the recession.
Why isn’t there any compassion for these people who have lost their homes, cars, and belongings and are now suffering depression and anxiety? How do you think they acquired these things that they are losing, by working that’s how.
Additionally, they have no medical insurance to obtain medicine to treat these mental disorders and are now desperate and irrational (many). The 99ers include many middle aged people who have medical conditions and are forced to go without medication or medical treatment. Prisoners get treated better, my goodness.
They (the 99ers) are being ridiculed and bashed on top of everything else; perhaps, what’s worse is that they have children and pets who are suffering as well. The jobs that they apply for including McDonalds have many other applicants and the resumes are being submitted by the thousands, electronically and this is why there are no call backs. In my town, the fast food restaurants are working with the prisoner re-entry programs and give most of the positions to them. I am not complaining, but explaining.
