Regarding Phthalates: This appears to have been hastily tacked onto the lead issue. There was a reprieve which Grandfathered in all existing inventory made before the deadline that was already in stock. Then a Federal judge in NY overturns this reprieve on the 8th of February making it go into effect the 10th of February. This give us 2 business days to do what with all our existing inventory? As it stands today, we may very well have to destroy 3/4 of our inventory. This will undoubtedly force us to lay off nine workers and close our doors, we cannot absorb this type of loss. It should be noted that we deal in small toy novelties that may or may not contain phthalates, we simply cannot afford the testing on all these products to confirm. In all cases, it exceeds the cost of our inventory. Also, our toys are not meant to be ingested which seems to be what the rats that showed possible phthalate damages had done. We need the reprieve re-instated!

The costs of following the standards should be subsidized by the government or taken as a tax deduction.
