Oh Mr. Reid. Have you given up on the Patriot Act for Food so quickly? Now you are ramming the massive union bargaining bill for Fire and Police through under a different name? Come on now, why not call it what it is…. A massive power grab!
S.3194 – Public Safety Employer-Employee Cooperation Act of 2009 NOW CALLED (S.3991 – Public Safety Employer-Employee Cooperation Act of 2010)….
Same pig, different face! This move proves how deceptive you are.
Great work, Senator Reid. It’s refreshing to see somebody stand up for those who keep our communities safe. People across the country may not realize how important this legislation is for job security of cops in the south. In some states, cops can be fired without cause, as long as there is no proof of discrimination. This can lead to politics playing a huge role in day to day public safety concerns, which is never a good thing.
S. 3991 is great. It will place additional tax burdens on citizens, grow union coffers, reduce services, and further bankrupt our nation. Thank You.
I think most of you who are against this bill have no idea as to what law enforcement personnel do. We are not ever allowed to strike. We are, with few exceptions, almost never allowed to participate in any considerations regarding working conditions, pay, budget, policy, or anything else. About all this bill does is give us a voice. Next time you need a cop, or you see one who has committed suicide due to the nastiness of our job, or one who has been killed in the line of duty, please remember this is one of the most dangerous vocations in the world. Divorce rates are sky high, injuries are a fact of occupation. Why should we at least have SOME input as to policy, etc. ??
The police in America, especially in the South, are grossly under paid. Their working conditions are deplorable. If a private company worked employees under the same set of parameters, the government would come in and close the doors. This bill would strengthen the security of the nation because it would make the incintives better for the good officers and firemen to want to stay. The pay is so bad that officer are forced to work extra jobs to just sustain a basic way of life. I am sadden that my sentaors and representatives are not in favor of the bill.
