What the hell country are we living in?
We are living in the United States of America! But it seems many of our politicians don’t know this!
“We The People” seems to be something of the past for many of them. The Love of Power seems to reign.
This is why many Individual States are Declaring Their Sovereignty. You can learn more about this at The John Birch Society Freedom Campaign.
You live in a nation that is taking a new direction. The majority are behind this direction. You will have to adjust for that.
“Single acts of tyranny may be ascribed to the accidental opinion of a day. But a series of oppressions, begun at a distinguished period, and pursued unalterably through every change of ministers, too plainly proves a deliberate systematic plan of reducing us to slavery.” – Thomas Jefferson
“The Constitution is not an instrument for the government to restrain the people, it is an instrument for the people to restrain the government – lest it come to dominate our lives and interests.” – Patrick Henry
Stop fooling yourself, the majority are not behind this decision. If you want a “new direction” move to another country.
No one would want to wait 3 months to get a cavity fixed, or have their doctor tell them that they can’t have chemotherapy because they are going to die anyway.
DO NOT use MASSACHUSETTS as a guide. That is a mess and not worth it in any form. How dare Patrick call it a model. I rather take the fines that insure with them. It is cheaper.
I am self-employed and fall through all their cracks. I am so sick of supporting the welfare crowd. I work for a living as a SINGLE LEGAL TAXPAYER AMERICAN of mixed minority descent.
Who at this time, would like to move out of the country and give up my citizenship.
Things are getting way out of hand with our gov’t. They are not listening. We have got to MAKE them hear us! Any suggestions? I write my congressmen almost daily and I get an automated response email or letter. I’m sick of this! Is anyone else as tired as I am? It seems that others are speaking out as well with no response. Our gov’t officials are supposed to work for us! I am attending a ‘TEA Party’ on April 15th but who’s to say that will work? I think we need a revolt! If everyone in America stopped paying taxes would they listen? I think they would have to! We could all claim married and 9 and then refuse to pay. I don’t think that is unAmerican. I think it is revolution in its greatest, loudest form! What do you all think???? They can’t arrest the entire nation! Can they?
They are not listening. They do not care what we ask or say.
PRINCIPLE: AGAINST
Grows government, increases spending, nationalization of an entire industry, power grab.
If States want this type of thing, they can vote on it.

Are you kidding me? Give the govt. control over your healthcare? They can’t seem to be able to figure out to effectively control the cost of all govt. programs from the postal service to the secret service. They will have to hire mounds of beaurocrats to oversee this project and it will be cost prohibited. It will take us out of the lead for medical research and developement. Medicare and Medicaid is a primary reason for not giving the central govt. control over our healthcare. Extreme misuses by individuals and hospitals and doctors are given the burden to provide care at costs that do not cover expenses for that care. Big mistake!
Part 1. The Federal Government does Not have Authority according to the US Constitution to pass this bill or any others like it.
The Fed Gov already enacted the Federal Welfare System many years ago [which was Un-Constitutional] to take care of people without insurance and that system in and of itself is Costing taxpayers way too much already. A person does not even have to be a legal citizen of the United States to receive medical care from this program. This of course Helped Inflate Health Care Costs for everyone, except those on it!
Part 2. It was also the Fed Gov that wrote bills to force companies with the aid of Unions & Insurance Companies to provide Health Care to their employees, many with co-pay of premiums shared by the company & the worker [also Un-Constitutional]. Thus this made competing on the “World Stage”, that you seem concerned about, more difficult for the companies. It cost them much more to be in business because of it. This Also helped Inflate Health Care Costs to individual families.
These wonderful plans by the Federal Government, weren’t very Successful, so now that their policies for those projects Created Many Problems including sky rocketing Insurance Premiums to have health care, They Want Even More Control over health care so that they can create even More Problems! Because they LIKE to Spend Money when it is NOT theirs! And of course, you, your children and grand-children will pay for this!
Part 3. And BE WARE! After they Paint it All Up Pretty and Rosy, after they convince people that is for their own good and get it all passed, and Spend all of these Billions of dollars to set up New government offices and hire thousands of new Government employees, who’s pay check you will be paying by the way, they will Have to! Then and only Then, decide, even though you are paying for this health care, Then Decide that with all the paychecks they write for the employees they are paying with tax payer Dollars to run this system, that Now, they need to raise taxes even higher, to pay those paychecks and Oh, ohm, Health Care, well, ohm, we will have to Ration that so that we can pay these Gov Employees and their pensions, vacations, etc. [Do you even have an idea of what a Billion Dollars is?]
Part 4. Socialized Health Care Does Not Work.
If you right Now in this Wonderful USA have a serious accident or a heart attack, you will be taken to an emergency room and treated, yes the bills for this will be outrageous, But you will more than likely be alive to pay that bill. With Socialized Health Care, some Jerk sitting in a Government office somewhere decides if you will be treated on the basis of everything in your file that they will pull up when you need that health care! Hope that person isn’t Out To Lunch in a real emergency!
You know what happens when the Government steps in, More regulations, Higher costs. The Federal Government can tell you what kind of care you need and what Meds you can take. Look at the long lines at the Vet clinics, Mr. Obama said this at his press conference with the press last week…..better fight this one with your reps…..
George
All you have to do is look at Medicaid and Medicare and know that this is a terrible idea…..Politicians are not good businessmen and they will run Healthcare into the ground just like they have bankrupted Medicare!
I love when people complain about how the US is headed toward universal health care and say that they want to leave the country or somehow start a revolution…. good luck finding another Western nation that DOESN’T have universal health care, much less one that speaks English. Canada? Check. United Kingdom? Check. Australia? Check. New Zealand? Check. Looks like you crazies are out of options…
Health care is a fundamental human right, and we in the United States treat it like a privilege. This is just wrong. Looks like the auto makers aren’t going to get their bailout….. can we take that money and toss it into H.R. 676 (a REAL universal health care bill)?
You obviously spend no time in the healthcare facilities to see the abuses and misuses of Medicaid and Medicare. Healthcare is not a right. I do not see it listed anywhere in our Constitution that you have the right to healthcare. Let me just say..you get what you pay for. National healthcare will mean substandard outrageously expensive care for all. NO Thank you!
It is a good thing for America that the Republicans keep losing elections. This bill, or one like it will pass, and it will good for the majority of Americans. The minority will have to learn to accept that they are now powerless.
You should tell your friends to sing up here and vote (on this site) because I don’t see those numbers reflected… At the time of this post the vote is Nay almost 6:1. Maybe its the majority of the people who care about their country and government happen to be Republican, Libertarian, or Independent.
“Popular sure doesn’t mean right.” —Penn Fraser Jillette
This argument isn’t just about health care, it’s about more control over our lives by the federal government. This administration is already grabbing enormous amounts of power with the “stimulus” bill and bailouts. Why would any sane person want to give them so much more power over such an important part of our life?! We need to fight this to the end!
Maybe if the government showed that it was responsible, and it knew how to balance a budget I might consider this. However, the government has repeatedly shown it cannot be trusted adn we want to trust them with our health? Support this only if you want to see your healthcare go down, and our country to go even more into debt.
I would rather place control of my health care in the government than a health insurance company whose sole purpose is to make money any day.
And Other than Control of You, the Government wants that money you are talking about. The more control they have, the more Power they have and the More of Your Money they have.
Socialized Health Care Does Not Work.
If you right Now in this Wonderful USA have a serious accident or a heart attack, you will be taken to an emergency room and treated even if you do not have insurance, yes the bills for this will be outrageous, But you will more than likely be alive to pay that bill.

This bill is about insurance, not health care. Single payer insurance is good, and it will pass. Adjust for that.
I am not going to put my health in the hands of a power hungry government that can decide whether or not I would get the care that saves my life based on whatever whim they have at the time. My family works hard to pay for our own health insurance plan.
The government is over-reaching itself. Tell them NO.
If the FQHC pay for themselves, why do they need such large grants? Almost everytown has a Health Department which is operated by the State. We do not need anymore Government interference.
FOR THOSE WHO SUPPORT THIS BILL — 1)By what stretch of the imagination does Healthcare become defined as a “right”? The most ridiculous argument I’ve ever heard about – even if Obama’s lips have uttered it! and 2) Cite me ONE PROGRAM run by the government that has resulted in IMPROVEMENTS to your standard of living! As other commenters have said, we need only look at what they have done with Medicare and Medicaid. And, the list of countries who have tried this and are MOVING AWAY FROM IT is very, very LONG! If you think healthcare is expensive now, just wait until it is run by the government!
I would hate to see the Gvt take over health care as they have ZERO business sense. Look at the post office…it has lost money forever. Anytime government gets involved it costs more – gives less!!! People that are not working already get free health care from the state welfare systems – this is just plain nuts.
