Gold metal at the expense of $30,000 of taxpayers money? Unconstitutional maybe? I never agreed to this. Hey congress..why don't you all cough about a couple hundred bucks yourselves if your serious about awarding medals. The bill's appropriations section is listed below.

SEC. 5. AUTHORIZATION OF APPROPRIATIONS; PROCEEDS OF SALE.

    (a) Authorization of Appropriations- There is authorized to be charged against the United States Mint Public Enterprise Fund, an amount not to exceed $30,000 to pay for the cost of the medal authorized under section 2.

    (b) Proceeds of Sale- Amounts received from the sale of duplicate bronze medals under section 3 shall be deposited in the United States Mint Public Enterprise Fund.

These people maybe heroes, I am not saying that they are not, it's just the question of whether or not congress is allowed to yank money for you and I for these purposes. That' it.
