As Nero fiddled, Rome burned! Will we allow this insult to happen?
Hear that drum in the background, slowly beating but getting closer/louder? That is a call to action for patriots to once again ensure they are safe from this new form of government tyranny. It’s powers are far too easy to abuse, and too tempting!
The “handwriting is on the wall” in this bill; who is courageous enough to call-out our “representatives” on this? WHEN THE VOTE IS COUNTED, THE LIST OF SUPPORTERS will be revealing once and forever. And these new POWERS will become next to impossible to ever be changed. THINK ABOUT IT!
While the issues addressed are valid concerns, of far greater concern should be the additional powers granted SOLELY to the Executive Branch. We should be very, very concerned about these particular powers. They are too easy to abuse, and far more tempting to do so that all the gold in Fort Knox!

Let me explain this to you from an Information System (IS) Security perspective, (yes, I actually have expertise in this as I have a MSM of IS Security), the US Government’s IS is one of the most vital areas. It is of great strategic importance. What do you think happens if a Chinese hacker is able to bring down our Defense Network?!? Or maybe another network infrastructure that is of vital importance to the Government IS infrastructure?
I’ve said this, I don’t know how many times, this Bill DOES NOT govern the public internet! IT GOVERNS US GOVERNMENT INFORMATION SYSTEMS SECURITY POLICIES!
Oh, and to answer your question, I am NOT for big Gov’t. I am opposed to it. That doesn’t mean that I don’t believe that the government doesn’t have the right to police it’s own agencies in regards to Information System Security.

Let me explain something to YOU… There will ALWAYS be something going on out there that you will not know ANYTHING about because of two things… Clearance and Need to know. These are the two governing principles that bar the general public from knowing all that goes on behind the political interactions of government leaders.
This is not Nazi Germany, this is not the USSR and this is not Communist China. There are REAL threats to this country. There are REAL threats to it’s Information System Security infrastructure. It is essential that it is protected from extra-governmental bodies and internal threats alike.
People don’t buy into this Republican fear tactic this card is always played to get their way just like the PATRIOT ACT 1,2,3 which is in it’s current form in violation of our Civil Liberties, Privacy and this bill is no different more government control.

Dont confuse the Patriot Act with this Cyber Security Act. The Patriot act is a gross violation of civil liberties. All it does is exercise more control over Government IS Policies and Procedures.
Justamick, Network Security should be taking care of by qualified professionals such as those in the field of networking, etc not BIG Government mandates.

Did you know, that Information System Security IS handled by qualified professionals with certifications like CCSP? Of course you didn’t, because you’re speaking like you know what you’re talking about when you actually have no clue.

One additional thing, this bill is not suggesting someone besides a qualified Information System Security professional should handle aspects of the GOVERNMENTS IS Security policies. Do you even understand how Government Agencies work? OR are you just another uninformed citizen that bases all of their limited information on hearsay, and baseless information? I find a lot of comments like yours come from people who haven’t the slightest idea how a government agency works.
FYI, this encompasses more than Network Security. Information System Security is an all encompassing concept that covers networks, servers an workstations as well as the domain in which information is shared between all of these systems.
At the risk of sounding extreme I believe this bill to be evil and against the constitution of the United States. Congress nor the president have the power to control the flow of information to the American public. This bill is an end around to the US constitution.
The US constitution does not allow this kind of bill to become law.

This proposed bill is a complete disgrace to the American people and our constitutional laws. By constitutional LAWS, this bill would, without a shadow of a doubt, be illegal to be passed! Not even parts of it. The Senate should simply know that the government should have zero control over the internet and trash the bill as whole. I would like to introduce a bill that brings back Canning in the senate and house, We need a few people who know the constitution and want to protect it too give these people a good beating and then throw the constitution on them after their ass is wupped. The first amendment covers this and a natural disaster or severe attack dose not supersede the rights of the of the people or freedom of speech.
