Hawaii will just say they have their own native laws and you can be born outside of Hawaii and be an Hawaiian as long as you apply for a birth certificate in 2 years.
Obama is lying and misleading about his birth and when he’s impeached everyone will agree.
I don’t know that this is targeted toward our president, but I think it is helpful in addressing the immigration problems we face. Still, it is only a drop in the bucket.
This should help stop the problem with some crossing our southern borders to have their child.
Obama.
This amendment – besides being a singularly stupid idea – is a poorly worded ambiguous mess. If this where ever enacted it would be tied up in court for decades trying to sort out who was and wasn’t still a citizen.
For you idiots saying that this will solve some problem — what problem is that? That people who have lived their entire life in the US are citizens? Since when is that a problem? Do you realize this mess would also strip citizenship from children of LEGAL immigrants (who just haven’t received their green card yet)?
Unfortunately, it wouldn’t strip those that are here illegally and send them back to where they came from. Other legislation would be added giving some grace period to those already here. I have nothing against immigrants being in the United States so long as they come through the front door with permission and not under the cover of darkness.
It will stop the swimming of the river so you can have a kid in the states and not get sent back south yourself. If you are not a citizen your kid should not become one just by birth. A parent should have to be a citizen before the kid is!
I would only support it if items 2 &3 added “and said person becomes a naturalized citizen”.
Wow – that would make it an even more idiotic proposal.
If you really want to do this how about you offer a suggestion to improve the proposal instead — like have it only penalize children of ILLEGAL immigrant parents. Since that is the group you claim causes you the concern. (Although I expect its more likely the same anti-immigration bigotry that seems to pop-up again and again through our history.)
How about just not mucking around with the constitution at all. How about we just guard the border. I’m guessing the pregnant women should be especially easy to catch.
We are the only country that have acknowledged that a child born in this country is automatically a US citizen. It’s about time we passed legislation to prevent this. In too many cases illegal aliens have been allowed to stay because they had a child here in the states. If a child is born outside the US and both parents are US citizens that child does not become a citizen of the country where it was born. It has the same US citizenship as it’s parents.
“We are the only country that have acknowledged that a child born in this country is automatically a US citizen.” – Of course we are. It’d pretty stupid for France to claim people were US citizens because they were born there.
Actually in the Western Hemisphere, citizenship by birth is the norm. Most of the North, Central, and South American countries I looked up grant automatic citizenship to children born there. Canada has an exception that excludes children of illegals. (Which is a more reasonable idea than this complete rewrite)
You can look up other countries rules at http://www.multiplecitizenship.com/wscl/ws_MEXICO.html Alternatively, you can keep on citing false facts based on no information in order to back up your opinion.

What about people who have been in this country for several years and are law abiding, tax-paying folks who just don’t have their Permanent Residence yet because the fudged-up Legal Immigration process takes years for someone to get their Green Card?!
People saying NAY to this – those folks don’t deserve to have kids born here who can live here all their lives by becoming US citizens? BULL!
Fix the borders, then fix the immigration system. When the immigration system is fixed, legal immigrants get a green card or become a citizen. Illegal aliens are then criminals and have no rights whatsoever!
This bill is a poorly disguised effort to legalize Barry Soetoro’s eligibility to serve as President of the U.S. It would save him a ton of money fighting lawsuits that are currently pending to seek the proof of his citizenship and it implies a redefinition of “natural citizen”. One parent born in the U.S. is NOT ENOUGH! By that parameter, the progeny of a radical muslim male and an American female will be eligible! WAKE UP PEOPLE!
Upon initial reading I thought this Bill might be something worthy of passing. However, upon further consideration I tend to believe it is SNARE that will enable Obama and actually assist his eligibility to serve as President of the USA. He is not an American Citizen, neither were his parents, Because this remains a growing and pressing issue I wouldn’t want to do anything that would enable him to remain.
I am all for shutting down the borders, [however temporary to regain control] and I am against the Dream Act and any other bill that allows Illegals to remain, parent and or their children. The answer is simple and exists in sending them all back – let them seek counsel in their native country, and if and when they are able to re-enter legally, so be it.
