There is no reason to use live farm animals to teach trauma medicine to the military and plenty of evidence that it is not even helpful due to the differences in anatomy between humans and, say goats. The Battlefield Training through Superior Training (BEST) Practices Act (H.R. 1417) will responsibly phase out the U.S. military's use of live animals in trauma training courses and require the use of ethically and scientifically superior non-animal alternatives, which are more effective at simulating battlefield injuries.
