1/24/2012--Passed House without amendment. (This measure has not been amended since it was introduced. The summary of that version is repeated here.) War Memorial Protection Act - Permits religious symbols recognizing the religious background of members of the Armed Forces to be included as part of:
(1) a military memorial that is established or acquired by the federal government; or
(2) a military memorial not established by the government, but for which the American Battle Monuments Commission cooperated in establishing.

Measure would protect religious symbols at military monuments

The War Memorial Protection Act (H.R. 290) would clarify that such religious symbols that exist may remain and can be included at new monuments if either government owned or if the American Battle Monument Commission assisted in establishing the monuments.
