Come on 99ers lets keep fighting… Bless congress woman LEE! There has to be some Republicans that will back her up! The lord knows how hards its been for us. Lets all pray to the lord and await a fast and good report!
Income inequality: It wasn’t always this way
In recent decades, the bulk of income growth in America has gone to the top 10% of families, but that was not always the case. Throughout most of the 20th Century, the bottom 90% claimed a much larger share of income growth than they have in recent years.
Between 1948 and 1979, a period of strong overall economic growth and productivity in the United States, the richest 10% of families accounted for 33% of average income growth, while the bottom 90% accounted for 67%. The overall distribution of income was stable for these three decades. In an extreme contrast, during the most recent economic expansion between 2000 and 2007, the period that led up to the Great Recession, the richest 10% accounted for a full 100% of average income growth.

@WasMiddleClass,
This is why we need less federal government involvement. The bottom 90% has given power to the top 10%. If we stick to a strict construction of the constitution, then the states should be the ones making most of the laws and paying out most of the support. For example, if you want 113 weeks of UI, wouldn’t it be easier to have 1 state vote on it instead of 50? Also, this is a good reason why we were never supposed to have a pure democracy (mob rule) but instead have a pure republic (rule of law). If each person can cast only 1 vote, it doesn’t matter how much money you have if Bill Gates’ vote counts as much as mine. The problem is, we’ve forgotten the people should be the ones voting on this in the state legislatures and we’re letting the mob rule what does/doesn’t happen.
c-span is just more pandering to a TV camera…..we know that :)
There you are ;)

Solidarity Amid Connecticut’s Unemployed
HAMDEN — Beth O’Connell earned $22 an hour at AT&T before she was laid off three years ago.
The mother of four has since lost her home, declared bankruptcy, moved in with her mother-in-law, and exhausted her 99 weeks of unemployment assistance.
After applying for hundreds of jobs and getting only a few interviews, she landed part-time employment as a lunch aide at an elementary school. She now earns minimum wage for 15 hours a week. There are no benefits, and if there’s no school, there’s no work.
“We want our benefits extended beyond 99 weeks,” she said at a rally last week outside the state Department of Labor’s office in Hamden. “We need help.”
As O’Connell spoke, volunteers handed out flyers to people entering the Department of Labor. The flyers advertised a new group in New Haven that aimed to help the jobless get access to services and asked them to lobby U.S. Congress to extend unemployment benefits.

Wait, so someone who found a job is complaining about not having UNEMPLOYMENT insurance? REALLY? If she’s been out of work for almost 2 year, no matter if it’s PT or not, minimum wage or not, shouldn’t she be thankful to have a job?
I assume you never “subcontracted”.
No unemployment. No workers comp. No nothing.
It is a big scam many companies use to save big dollars while screwing the employees.
Oh yeah, I’ve subcontracted. And after 1 year, I got the hell out. But still, shouldn’t she just be happy to have a job?

People need to really realize what caused the recession and why it is not going to just fix by itself!!!
They need to realize what the definition of a 99er really is:
With the exception of the COPY CAT 99ers (people taking advantage of the free money) 99ers are mostly a LARGE group of people that were chosen to be laid off ‘FIRST’ from SPECIALIZED TYPE POSITIONS in large prominent companies when and because of illegal RESIDENTIAL LENDING practices THE HOUSING MARKET CRUMBLED (hedge funds collapsed) …AFFECTING…. 69% of RESIDENTIAL builders (construction) and residential bankers WERE THE FIRST LAID OFF!! –(bank had to many foreclosures thus stopped giving out anymore RESIDENTIAL CONSTRUCTION LOANS).these LAID OFF 99ERS were professional people who work in luxury industries;, ARCHITECTS, DESIGNERS OF ALL AREAS, MORTGAGE LOAN OFFICERS, ADVERTISING & MARKETING AGENTS, MANUFACTURING DESIGNERS PROFESSIONAL –
THAT DEAL IN CONSTRUCTION MANUFACTURING SUCH AS WINDOWS DOORS ECT…..Spam Comment
