WasMiddleClass – I have been watching that show too. You are correct but I have to add that it is sad to see many Americans today who are for self and only come out with a helping hand when something disastrous like (9/11) happens. Times like they are now need ALL Americans to join together and help each other even if its over the smallest thing, a cup of coffee and being able to talk to one another. Simplest things to help one another goes along way. We have missed our roots some where. Old American values of being neighborly. When I was EMPLOYED my family made it an old tradition that on each holiday (Did not matter race, color or ethnicity)we took in 3 homeless people in for two days. Let them shower and enjoy a warm meals (Even if it was not a big Meal) and sit down and talk (We Listened) to their stories.
I agree. It is extremely sad what has happened to many in America.
There are still many good people left though.

2011 Unemployment Extension – 99ers Hold Congress in Contempt
http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/7883290/2011_unemployment_extension_99ers_hold.html
The 112’TH Congress is so dysfunctional that it can’t even pass a budget. What can 99ers expect from Congress; more of the same?

and that 80% included the ones that oppose this Bill and you know who you are!!!!
@sclark113: Appears many are concentrating on world events that don’t affect America’s unemployment crisis. There IS news on HR 589 surprised none of the unemployment websites have posted it on OC and others. What solutions does anyone have in regards to Peace on this earth except her demise which has been said. “GOP leaders agree to meet with Dems to discuss bill for long-term unemployed”
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/03/22/99ers-bill-meeting-long-term-unemployed_n_838970.html
I remember the big article in Time last year when the reporter went on the road to talk to people all across this land. He said the one thing he heard the most was “Washington is broken beyond repair”.
I couldn’t agree more!
“GOP leaders agree to meet with Dems to discuss bill for long-term unemployed”

I have a couple HUGE questions these days…
Why didn’t the Democrats try to come up with a way to pay for it when they controlled both houses of Congress, and before the elections when it would have gained them countless votes from the 99ers.
Why would they not even bring it to the floor for an up or down vote?
And why would the Democratic leaders not push for it, or even allow it to be included in the tax cut deal when the rich overwhelmingly benefited from that deal while taxes on the poor were increased?
Now the conversation in DC is all about how much more is going to be cut in help to the poor we are supposed to think they are finally going to actually try to help the 99ers?
I say BS! The Dems had every chance in the world already to help us and they did nothing! They left us to freeze and die on the streets!
And everyone knows the Republicans have no intention of helping us besides talking more about their phantom job creation BS.
I’m no economist, but I spent decades watching the prices of everything go up and up while my pay did not. The only way to make more money was to get promoted. It sure seems to me that is the big problem with our economy. Most people kept going deeper and deeper into debt to try to live a halfway decent life as prices skyrocketed until it reached the breaking point.
There are many people trying to tell us now that we should be happy with working for much lower pay (if we can even find a job like that), and it is necessary because of the economy.
When I last worked full time I made about $50K per year. That bought me about the same as a little more than minimum wage did in the late 70’s.
But the pay of top executives went up over 1000 percent!
A good place to start:
Staff salaries up for U.S. House aides
A newspaper’s analysis of spending reports shows that salaries have been on the rise for the staffs of U.S. House members.
The newspaper says it compared total staff salary costs for the 429 U.S. House members who served all of 2009 and 2010 and found they rose 4.6 percent. The House has 441 members in all.
They do nothing while we die. These bastards need to feel pain. They need to feel our pain. Screw pacifism, reaction to inaction.
JoHamm go easy there buddie! Give yourself some healing time afor you get into the angry stuff

I just want to stand WITH you not in remembrance of you!
Here is some fun new news!
money.cnn.com/2011/03/23/news/economy/state_unemployment_benefits/index.htm?hpt=T2
Wow, that was a quick recovery! Still, there’s a post-operative recuperation period ahead of you so it would be best to get that out of the way first. Let the wounds heal, literally. Will you be released to take care of yourself at home, or will they look after you for a few weeks?
MrsChang, I bust out tomorrow
“Where” articles like that should be fuel for our fire (if we can ever find our fire!) These things affect union & non-union and at a time when benefits need to be expanded, benefits are instead being quashed, by people that have never worked an honost days work in their rich spoiled lives. There are no ditch diggers in this bunch, nor factory workers. These people don’t face lay-offs nor unemployment at age 50. They have no idea what we face and go through every single day. We are who made America what it was, they are who have made America what it is today. We cannot allow the “robber barron’s” to return. They must be stopped. Their minions have quietly crept into positions of power to chip away at those benefits we’ve worked for over the years. Now, one by one, they strip away those benefits. Ronald Regean & his bad of thieves started this, year by year more & more has been taken. I say, no more. The greedy rich must be stopped, now.
That sounds too early, but then, it’s better not to hang around too long at a hospital, which has more than its share of germs. I suppose they’ll follow your case with frequent checkups?
I definitely agree that we are severely oppressed by a totalitarian system. Writing to Congress and marching in protest can only go so far. However, there’s a big danger, in the case of an angry demonstration, that the military will fire at civilians. Remember the Bonus Army in 1932 or thereabouts?
It’s a problem, it really is.
I’m glad to you have your fighting spirit back my friend :)
Ooops… to see you have…

The World’s Super-Rich
Billionaires Flourish, Inequalities Deepen as Economies “Recover”
by Prof. James Petras
The bailouts of banks, speculators and manufacturers served their real purposes: the multi-millionaires became billionaires and the later became multi-billionaires. According to the annual report of the business magazine Forbes there are 1,210 individuals – and in many cases family clans – with a net value of $1 billion dollars (or more). There total net worth is $4 trillion, 500 billion dollars, greater than the combined worth of 4 billion people in the world. The current concentration of wealth exceeds any previous period in history; from King Midas, the Maharajahs, and the Robber Barons to the recent Silicon Valley – Wall Street moguls of the present decade…

Your quick action is urgently needed to help stop a major cutback to unemployment insurance that would set a dangerous national precedent. What was a state issue is now an urgent national issue.
In a shockingly harsh, reckless and cynical move, the Michigan legislature has approved a bill that would reduce the maximum weeks of eligibility for regular state unemployment benefits to 20 weeks from the national standard of 26 weeks, while allowing for a technical fix to continue the current federally-funded Extended Benefits program.
http://www.nelp.org/page/speakout/Veto_the_UI_cutback_Pass_EB_fix
Continued assaults by the Republican held legislatures in many States are quickly making it apparent that we would all be better off without their representation. Michigan Republicans, in their infinite wisdom, while representing the citizens of one of the historically highest unemployment states during this entire recession have decided that after seeing the state’s unemployment rate recover to 10.7% that we are now out of the woods. We can now attract new business to the state by limiting state supported unemployment benefits to 20 weeks instead of the historical 26 weeks.
Dumb can be fixed, stupid is forever…and this action is way past dumb!
That’s a disaster, our dumb Republican governor just reduced unemployment benefits in Florida to 20 weeks and also reduced the amount making us the lowest unemployment benefits in the nation. We are one of the 3 highest unemployed states in the country. He is a bastard.
Just like the article I posted last night says…
And If they are not already, I am sure they will be saying how they want to cut taxes for the rich some more there next.
This has become all out war by the elite on everyone that is not elite, and they don’t even bother to try to hide it much anymore because many of the brainwashed people in America actually think it is a good thing.
