    One of our “coalition”.

Let me explain something here that far too few know about. The Tea Party started out as a group of smart people that saw what was happening on Wall Street, and what cause the situation we are in now, and decided to organize people to fight back.

Protest were organized and carried out against the thieves on Wall Street. More and more angry people were joining in.

Then big money got involved, and with help from the main stream media we ended up with people like Palin, and Angle, and Odennell, using the Tea Party name. We ended up with people like Paul Ryan getting elected on a platform that started out as fighting back against big money and Wall Street but was hijacked by those who can afford to buy what most people hear on the news to make all the really angry people believe that they were voting for people that would fight against big money, and help them.

Maybe the fact that many really smart people were screaming about how the Bush tax cuts would eventually require huge cuts in many programs to pay for them before they were even passed has something to do with it?

The whole reason the Bush tax cuts were passed is because we had a big surplus at the time. Do we now? But we are told it is a “non starter” to not keep them now. Why is that? Even Bush did not try to say they would stimulate the economy back then.

I should add this one last thing, since little gets posted about the 99ers here anymore. That is basically because we have little new information on anyone doing anything for the millions of 99ers in DC.

What is the common denominator from both sides on help for the 99ers?

WE CAN NOT AFFORD TO HELP YOU SURVIVE

But some rebels we know nothing about in Libya is another story…….

Job cuts for poor seniors could up homelessness

    Really? No shit…you’re joking…right?

LOS ANGELES – For $700 a month, 65-year-old Esmeralda Calderon cares for children part-time through a federal community service job that’s in jeopardy because of cuts to the proposed federal budget for 2011.
Under the Department of Labor’s Senior Community Service Employment Program, more than 75,000 elderly Americans living in poverty in all 50 states earn their keep by the slimmest of margins. To qualify, participants must be over 55 and earning less than 125 percent of the federal poverty level — $13,600 a year.
In the budget bill signed Friday by President Barack Obama, the program was slashed by 45 percent, from $825 million to $450 million a year. Advocates say it could mean as many as 58,000 fewer jobs if states or national groups are forced to discontinue the program because of the reductions.

    Those kind, caring Koch boys…

“In late 2000, as the Clinton administration was preparing to leave, Koch was served with a 97-count indictment for covering up the discharge of more than fifteen times the legal limit of benzene, a known carcinogen, from a refinery in Corpus Christi, Texas. The company faced penalties of more than $350 million and four employees were criminally charged and faced up to 35 years in prison. Three months after the Bush administration took office the case was settled out of court. Koch Industries agreed to pay $20 million and plead guilty to one count of concealment of information; in return, the Justice Department dropped all criminal charges against Koch and its employees. Not surprisingly, in the 2000 elections Koch had contributed $800,000 to Republican candidates, including presidential nominee George W. Bush

They may be able to fool some of the people some of the time but our army of strange bedfellows grows every day…

Who knew Harry Potter’s magic powers were for real? Okay, excuse my Muggle-like ignorance, but I didn’t believe it until I attended a session at the recent National Conference on Media Reform in Boston, organized by the non-profit organization Free Press. This particular panel was headlined “Pop Culture Warriors: How Online Fan Communities Are Organizing to Save the World.”

One can, of course, take the position that we don’t care about the problems people face today, and want to think about a possible tomorrow. OK, but then don’t pretend to have any interest in human beings and their fate, and stay in the seminar room and intellectual coffee house with other privileged people. Or one can take a much more humane position: I want to work, today, to build a better society for tomorrow – the classical anarchist position, quite different from the slogans in the question. That’s exactly right, and it leads directly to support for the people facing problems today: for enforcement of health and safety regulation, provision of national health insurance, support systems for people who need them, etc.

That is not a sufficient condition for organizing for a different and better future, but it is a necessary condition. Anything else will receive the well-merited contempt of people who do not have the luxury to disregard the circumstances in which they live, and try to survive

Ok, I admit I had to look that up, the quote that is, from Noam Chomsky. You’re making me do research work I usually charge for, Was. :)
