I’m sure most people saw this pepper spray video on the news by now. I think that those officers should have been immediately fired, and arrested for assault, not put on desk duty. The video got over 1.3 million views in two days just on You Tube. I’m sure it got tens of millions more on all the other sources showing it so far.
One huge accomplishment so far for Occupy is exposing the true police state we actually live in, and how the rights many still believe we have are actually an illusion now.

As you have probably heard, Congress is working with Big Content companies and unions to quickly pass legislation that would give corporations and the government new powers to take down websites and censor the web. Public-interest groups have been trying to get a seat at the table to explain why the bill is maybe not such a great idea, but so far they’ve been shut out.

I watched that the other day and was totally impressed by the tremendous discipline of those students, keeping to the tenets of non-violent protest in spite of the way they had been treated. Everyone should see that UC Davis pepper-spraying and then this video of Chancellor Katehi. I wonder if she actually realized how much brutality was going to be released on those students before calling in the police. If not, she does now.
The less well-circulated part of the pepper-spraying incident I think is the part that happens after that. When you watch the longer versions of the video(s) some of them continue on and show the cops just backing up and leaving while the students are shouting en masse, “You can go! You can go!” The police looked as if they just didn’t know what to do. It was quite stunning, a psychological victory in spite of the pepper-spray.

CALL TO ACTION – VETERANS:
To help win the ‘hearts and minds’ of our fellow citizens, we are starting a photo album with the stories of veterans and those currently serving. Please write large and legibly on a piece of paper. Hold it up and take a photo. Send it to us by posting on our wall. We will add them to the album and post continually. No names will be used in the photo album. Please end all statements with " I am the 99%" "occupywallstreet.org "
We’ve heard so many moving stories of people struggling and it’s important to get those stories out. If you are having a hard time, or if you just want to protect the rights of our citizens to peacefully protest; let us know. Thank you.

It would be pretty hard for them to be able to sweep all those people on extensions under the rug if they all got cut off during the holidays. Unlike they did with the 99ers.
I wonder if they will call everyone collecting extensions “99ers” again this time, and make a big deal again about how they helped the 99ers…
