12/17/2011--Passed Senate amended. Haqqani Network Terrorist Designation Act of 2011 - Requires the Secretary of State to report to Congress on:(1) whether the Haqqani Network (an Afghan insurgent group based in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of northwest Pakistan) meets the criteria for designation as a foreign terrorist organization; and
(2) which criteria have not been met, if the Secretary determines that the Haqqani Network does not meet such designation. States that nothing in this Act may be construed to infringe upon the sovereignty of Pakistan to combat militant or terrorist groups operating inside its boundaries.

I am writing as your constituent in the 4th Congressional district of Oklahoma. I oppose S.1959 - Haqqani Network Terrorist Designation Act of 2011, and am tracking it using OpenCongress.org, the free public resource website for government transparency and accountability.
Declaring them as a terrorist group is the right thing to do. If they are a threat inside the US by all means stop them.
However that is an internal issue between Pakistan and Afghanistan. They should fight their own enem...
