I have read over the OPEN Act and I agree with the general direction of the BILL. It seems to be geared towards going after those that are making money on pirated software (Advertisers and Transaction Gateways) and those that are registered under the domain name of the piracy sites rather than bystanders, websites and forums that basically shared or received information on the site. However I saw one section of the Bill that raised concern:
“The Commission
(A)may investigate an alleged violation of subsection (b) on its own initiative;“
This section worries me that the government will be left with the power to begin the investigation process without even contacting the copyright owners. This would make a loophole to the complaint process. I would suggest that at the very least the copyright owners consent would have to be given for this type of investigation to begin. Please let me know what you think and whether you agree.
This bill eliminates free trade, and hampers free trade/free speech and other such rights! It will continue to be shot down, REGARDLESS of what names or how many bills you people try to send it through under! Enough is ENOUGH already!
