Requires this Act to apply to: (1) proceediOfficial Summary
9/12/2012--Introduced.American Victims of Terrorism Justice Act - Amends the federal criminal code to extend from 4 to 10 years the limitation period for bringing certain actions for civil damages resulting from an act of international terrorism. Requires this Act to apply to:(1) proceedings pending or commenced on or after the enactment of this Act; and
(2) civil actions brought under specified provisions of the federal criminal code for recovery of damages from international terrorism, provided that such actions are filed within six years after enactment of this Act. Permits any private civil action arising from a violation of the Anti-Terrorism Act of 1991 to be refiled within 90 days after enactment of this Act if the action:
(1) was dismissed as time barred prior to the enactment of this Act, and
(2) would have been timely filed pursuant to this Act.
