There’s no definite time period for full Senate consideration. Today it is being debate and possibly voted on in the Judiciary Committee. Its likely it’ll pass the committee, but the Senate Republicans will filibuster it. It by some miracle it gets passed the Senate, it’ll die in the House because of the GOP majority.

I’m not sure how long it will take to finish in the committee and head to the floor for debate. However I would suggest you check the Wiki so you are familiar with the detailed process of a bill becoming law.

No one really knows the chances of this passing. I think it will be a struggle in the Senate and nearly impossible in the House. Be sure that you and all your friends and family are voting for Democrats and telling them you support this bill, and calling Republicans and also telling them you support this bill.

sigh, held over again. I don’t know what the hell Leahy is waiting for. They know it’ll get filibustered in the Senate so they might as well just get it to the floor to at least legitimately debate the issue.

Keep up the good fight. I say equal rights for all.
Never actually been married, but just from observations, things DO certainly appear to be biased in the direction of the “traditional”/Christian/anti-gay aspect toward the laws governing marriage.
It may just be a simple piece of paper to a lot of people, but to those being descriminated against with the biased laws that are in use, it can be an extremely grueling process. DADT needs to be repealed as well! Some of these laws, it actually dosen’t matter about your personal life (which regardless of status/lifestyle, or lack thereof); it’s overly intrusive nonetheless.
Someone’s personal life, is definately THEIR business. Therefore, ANY descrimatory laws, DO need repealed and put a stop to!
Wish all involved, minus the pro prop-8 groups, the best of luck!

Descriminatory laws hurt a lot of people.. Not just those, who the laws are initially targeted toward.
People should keep these factors in mind, before just trying to get the things passed. Brings to mind the whole bandwagen mindset, just because everyone is jumping off a cliff, does that mean the rest should just blindly follow?

I think if Celebrities can shame marriage with a 72 day marriage, everyone else should have their right to do what they want. A same sex marriage can’t make marriage look worst than the Rich&Famous do!

The laws are changing day by day and i have full respect for the ongoing act of marriage and would like to see some of the changes in the same in future.
