I am writing in opposition to bill S.978, which would criminalize the streaming of any video that contains Copyrighted material (i.e.: not directly belonging to the producer of the streaming video) and subject the violator(s) to five years' imprisonment.
The biggest problem I have with this proposed legislation lies not so much with the overwhelming sponsorship this bill has from many major corporate names in show business (although that is considerable), but with its over-reaching intent.
