I really hope this law comes into place, just a horrible event that NO parent should ever experience.

I agree! Processors that produce tainted food need to be shut down much more quickly. In Kevin’s case, he had already died and several days had passed before the producer of the tainted meat was forced to close. This does not make sense! The government needs to be able to close such plants and keep the populace safe from tainted food.

Please re-introduce Kevin’s Law. The food industry needs better regulations, we need to be protected from eating contaminated food.

  • paul06harley 03/07/2010 2:34pm

Make this law how can we let this great injustice continue? Are we not the people we need to protect. NOT THE GIANT CORPERATIONS.

  • cobalt360 03/07/2010 10:24pm

people will learn the truth sooner or later – stop wasting time and put this into effect

  • milene 03/12/2010 7:26am

What if this were Your Child??? This is not Fiction and it could and will happen again and again.

This is a NO Brainer. Passing this law would not only prevent future needless deaths but have a domino effect. First, protect the consumer. Second, reduce greenhouse gasses by forcing these mass producing companies to go back to common sense and getting rid of the corn fed cows and livestock. Eating grass naturally removes the Ecoli that is a killer. This boils down to “we are purposely poisoning ourselves for the mighty dollar”. Third, not only going back to eating grass to rid disease but it would drop the “greenhouse gasses” because the waste would simply go back into the ground vs. tons of gasses being released in the atmosphere.

So, we improve food quality. Improve health (health care reform), reduce greenhouse gas (global warming). Wow what one bill could do!

Stand Up for what is Right.

Reintroduce Kevin’s Law, Simple. I mean you look at the people dieing, and I mean it’s stupid, If you make people sick, take them out. If people did not get sick, less money on sick people, and I am sure people are tired of seeing loved ones die because of things like this. Why wouldn’t this pass? It makes more sense then the factories hiding how they treat the animals, and raise them!

On this site alone, 244 in favor and 7 opposed. In a democracy, that should be enough. It doesn’t take much to see the value in this law and the importance in passing it. Pass the law.

  • cjacquez4 03/29/2010 3:46am

Pass Kevin’s Law. Not only “Food, Inc.” was an eye opener but also “Earthlings.” How is the government going to actually care of the American people when it can’t even control the food the factories are producing. The more unhealthy the food is the more unhealthy American’s are going to be. I don’t want the government to tell what I can or can’t eat, but I don’t believe the choice should come down the my wallet.

  • alucero 04/10/2010 5:38am

Please pass this bill. For the safety of our food.

  • brucemaclachlan 04/19/2010 7:45am

    Please re-introduce Kevin’s Law.

As citizens of the United States we are covered by ‘life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness’.

Contaminated food takes our lives and those of our children, the corporations that are preventing us knowing this fact anf force us to continue to eat from repeat offenders are denying our liberty, and being riddled with food borne pathogens is a serious impediment to any degree of happiness.

Please choose the American people over the greed of a handful of companies and the farmers who have no option but to submit to their tyranny because of massive debt and intimidation.

Surely it is common sense that a business that continually issues people with life threatening poison should be shut down? Surely we are allowed to eat food that has been stripped of contaminents, and surely the permitting of pathogens into the food simply because it makes it cheaper and it’s too much effort to get them out is vile at best, evil at worst.

I’m so glad that somebody has the courage and intelligence to say what we are all thinking.

  • yraddict 04/22/2010 4:52pm

Please reintroduce and pass Kevin’s Law H.R.3160. Plain and simple…get it passed!

  • mamajosie 04/22/2010 7:54pm

I agree 100% with brucemaclachlan. Our country has a history of letting large corporations slide and avoid any ramification of their careless actions simply all due to greed. We have made our mothers, fathers, and grandparents suffer injustice through the leniency that the government has given them for so long.

And now what? We think our judicial system is just. We think that our government is for the people. They are the ones we are told to turn to and they ask for our votes, and our support. Then why do they not care to pass such an important bill as this?? Our children’s lives are in danger because of the food that is forced upon the Americans. It only takes a small amount of common sense to realize just how wrong the system is!

Please reintroduce this important, and potentially life saving bill. Get these giant corporations shut down for their repeated violations.

  • dbradzieta 04/23/2010 5:46am

I also agree 100% with brucemaclachlan. Please reintroduce and pass Kevin’s Law H.R.3160. How can big corporations get away with threatening our farmers? How can they get away with such violent animal cruelty? Please reintroduce and pass Kevin’s Law H.R.3160 so we can make our food supply cleaner and safer!

I dont understand why a child has to die for some thing like this to come about its not right that boy should have never gotten sick in the first place. If god had intended cows to eat corn, he would have made their stomachs fit to do so.

  • smartkid19 04/26/2010 1:35pm

im 17 and even i know its wrong not to pass this Bill….COME ON!

  • lewis22908 04/27/2010 4:23pm

after watching the PBS special on the industrialization of our food production in America, it makes me ill (figuratively and literally) on what they are doing to our planet, our hard working American farmers as well as us consumers! We need to pass this law and I will be eating even more organic and local food! I have already quit eating red meat, and dairy products!!

  • BarbShillinger 04/28/2010 9:11am

Government subsidies, etc, need to go to those who are producing HEALTHY food, not high fructose corn syrup, et al.

  • vee 04/29/2010 2:54pm

This bill needs to be passed asap!!

Barb you are so right. We should have a Grass Fed Beef Subsidy. Ill explain.
Here is part of an essay i am writing as part of my grad school project.
It is imperative that we ask congress to pass an amendment to the National School Lunch Act and the Child Nutrition Act which would allow for congress to pass a new act-The Grass Fed Beef Act of 2010. This law would allow farmers to concentrate their efforts without the fear of economic distress looming in the event that markets fall or prices fall. Like the organic movement, farmers would be monitored by government inspectors to ensure that there is minimal grain being fed to the animals. Any grain must be from a self sustaining farm that is not using Genetically Modified Organisms, nor is it relying on fertilizer for the grass, antibiotics for the neither

  • TChristine5000 05/19/2010 6:44pm

I believe that what this comes down to is that all food operations should have a HACCP plan. A HACCP plan is the basis of a clean, safe, and sanitary operation. It’s ridiculous that people are getting sick from things such as E Coli and Salmonella, when it could be so easily prevented by incorporating HACCP plans and more rigid food safety guidelines.

  • possea48 06/15/2010 5:12pm

Please reintroduce and pass Kevin’s Law H.R.3160. We all deserve safe, clean food. Without these regulations, what is the point of having a FDA?

  • JasmineKuzner 06/26/2010 4:56pm

As a business owner I answer to my patrons needs and wants. I demand the same from the businesses I patron. My family and I need and want our liberty to safe food and my government needs to ensure that.

  • faithd06 07/03/2010 9:42pm

    Please pass Kevin’s Law.

  • ocice 07/16/2010 1:16pm

Why do corporations continue to (literally) get away with murder when the People are screaming for tighter regulations? Pass this law now! How many more people have to die before Congress takes this seriously?

  • ginhul 07/22/2010 7:35am

Our nation’s citizens have a right to healthy foods. Today’s mass production of industrial, genetically modified food is detrimental to our health, inhumane to our livestock, enslaves our nation’s hardworking farmers and their laborers, and adds decay to our planet. And it does all this in the name of profit for the handful of titans that control the industry. Why does a cheeseburger off a “dollar-menu” cost me less than a head of broccoli? It’s insane!

  • sweetrevenge019 07/25/2010 4:47pm

I agree, watch the documentary called “Food Inc” It’ll open up your mind on the way food is made and what you’re really eating. Pass Kevin’s Law.
