    The language of this bill is far too open-ended as are the requirements for prohibiting the possession of a firearm. It doesn’t say that the individual was sentenced to at least one year in jail, only that it “would be punishable by” at least one year. Not all states have the same sentence for the same crime and some sentences are decided by juries. An excessively rough schoolyard brawl could easily fit the requirements and prohibit someone from gun ownership for the rest of his/her life.
